I decided to try this location since I had gone to the one on 249 last week. There was a little difference in the aesthetics, but still very nice. I ordered the Spicy Chipotle Smoked Ribs Dinner (same as last week). I must say that they were definitely worth trying them again. These ribs were so moist and tender that I could pull them off the bone with my fork! The rice was moist and seasoned just right. This meal was worth the wait. My 16 oz strawberry margarita was delicious and well needed to combat the heat from outside. The chips, salsa and avocado dip were delicious as our appetizers. We were almost too full by the time our meals arrived. I want to thank Valeria for welcoming us into this wonderful restaurant. She greeted us with a smile and made the conscience effort to make sure we were enjoying the meal and experience. She came to check on us several times. Lupe's couldn't have chosen a better person to be the greeter. Our waitress was a lovely young lady who was not as enthusiastic. She took our orders, but she made us feel like she had rather been somewhere else. I won't mention her name because I want to be fair in this review (and this isn't to beat anyone down). However, I hope that she will read this and realize that her tips from her customers may be reflected by her service. But what came out was a shrimp that was so small that the meal looked and tasted like bacon wrapped in cheese. And even with the bacon and cheese, the flavor was lackluster. The dish was 25 dollars; maybe three jumbo shrimp would have been better with some flavor. Sometimes, you have to get heavy-handed when putting on the spices. But the service was on point, and it's a really pretty place. Had dinner here on a Tuesday night and it wasn't that busy. The chips and salsa with beans were very good. The margarita which was in happy hour was also good. The service was spent on. The decor is typical Mexican restaurant. For dinner I had the Lupe combo which was fine not great but not bad. The other order was fajitas and those were very good according to the person that ordered them. Plenty of parking out front as long as the shopping mall isn't busy. After standing in the front for MORE than 5 minutes waiting for someone to sit us down I see an employee and asked her if we could sit anywhere or someone will sit us down. We ordered the Fajitas Grandioso, the Queso Flamiado, and a margarita for myself. I opted for the classic margarita because it was our first time here. It did not disappoint. It was huge! Almost two margaritas in one. The Queso Flamiado with corozo was great with the huge tortillas it came with. The Fajitas Grandioso included beef, chicken and bacon wrapped shrimp. The beef cooked perfectly that it melts in your mouth. The chicken also very good, was soft and lean. The bacon wrapped shrimp with cheese could have had the bacon cooked a bit more but next time I'll ask for those extra crispy. The dish also came with a side of rice, beans, guac, sour cream and cheese. Everything was great, except for the rice. Personally for me, it lacked flavor. No dessert as it was so much food. I have to admit I am really shocked my epic review doesn't have any likes or any kind of traction. Lupe tortilla is my go to for beef fajitas in Houston Texas. You simply cannot beat them. They taste really good full of flavor and I just the best. The customer service is really good as well. I take several clients and vendors there and they absolutely love it. You cannot go wrong with this location. The management and waitstaff do a great job. They are definitely not the cheapest in town but you are paying for quality. I ordered over $65 online with a scheduled pickup at 7:50; I received a call at 7:05 that my order was ready for pickup. I told the curbside staff that brought out my order that the text I received clearly said 8:00 to 8:05 for pickup. I told her that for that amount of $$ I expected that it would be ready at the time specified. Not only was my order almost an hour earlier than expected and was now cold. I only got two (2) flour tortillas; one for each entree. So disappointed with one of my favorite places. My hubby has been wanting to try their brunch menu for a few weeks and finally today we were able to make it and brought our grandson along. The Bloody Mary, although it was made with Tito's vodka, which nothing is wrong with Tito's, it must be the mix as overall taste, was just of Tito. Moving on to good, or grandsons's waffle was extra fluffy and when dipped in the warm syrup, was delicious! He doesn't like whipped cream or anything extra on his waffles so we can't comment on those. It did come with two slices of bacon and it must've tasted good as not only did he devour them, he didn't want any to begin with. My husband and I both ordered the omelette except mine was with beef fajita and he had chicken fajita and he wanted it all scrambled together. This was our spot every Friday night pre-COVID. During COVID we started ordering curbside, things were great at first. They messed up our order several times, but considering we were in the middle of a pandemic, we were just grateful they were open and serving. Now things are have gotten even worse. I can't believe how small the portions have gotten. They get smaller and smaller. They also seem to always get our order wrong. This has happened more than just a few times. Let us start with the positive things. The food here is always superb. I highly recommend starting off the the queso of any type then segwaying into some bomb ass fajitas. Don't forget to add the grilled jumbo shrimps drizzled in cheese. I myself am a corn tortilla guy, but I will say the flour tortillas at this location go pretty well with the fajitas. Also make sure you keep that queso from before to drizzle on your selected meats. Lastly grab a margarita if you are in the mood as these have just the right kick to start your day off right. I am a fan of the prickly pear but you decide. My only problem with this location is the service, it is either a hit or miss here. I don't know the name of the best server but if you get the short guy with the long blond hair you are going to be treated like a king, if you get any of the other staff you will most likely not see your waiter to often as I have found on numerous occasions to this establishment. So to start we made a reservation 4 hours in advance for 25 people. At 5pm our party grew to 42 people! We totally screwed then. Shockingly they were able to make it work! We waited a few extra minutes for them to add 17 seats. The bar has excellent drinks & the blended margarita was above normal quality. So the bar entertained us. Lots of virgin Pina colada & daiquiris for the kids. They seated us timely to chips & queso on each table. They offered us a fixed menu to save the hour of special orders. It was great. 18 kids taco plates & 22 adult fajitas & 2 veggie fajitas. All the kids served at once & parents minutes after. You would think we had 4 servers. Nope just one hero named Jonathan. He handled 42 people by himself without any issues. The manager Sabrina was a master of our circus. She got us set up, helped with food, service, drinks, bussing & acting like James Bond. Without her guiding us and the staff this would've been a huge cluster. The food was all well cooked & tasted great. Drinks were poured with love! I still can't see how the kitchen got all that food out in a decent time. Next time we come back to Houston for a soccer tournament we will return for a team dinner.
