It is an absolute honor to be the first one to review Lupe's. I promise to do my best. Lupe's is one of my dad's favorite places to eat Mexican food. Like many of its East L.A. counterparts farther west, Lupe's is not really a restaurant. It's more of a food stand. I would call it a taqueria, but that's not exactly right. The good is as authentic as it gets, and the people who work there are friendly. I don't remember whether you get your food fast, but I don't remember ever waiting too long. It's on a strange part of Beverly between Rosemead Boulevard and Montebello. It's on the north side of the street, so if you're coming from Montebello, you'll probably have to make a U-turn at Rosemead. Been passing this place for years and never tried it. My boy had the taquitos with guac and he loved it. It was gone before I knew it. I had the crispy tacos and a chicharon burrito, can I say hot and spicy. I have to come back and try some of the other items. First time here. I purchased the special quesadilla with pastrami. I was about to eat it in the car. But right after I split the quesadilla in half I noticed that there was a hair inside. I went back to the restaurant and ask the heavy set old guy at the counter if they can give me a refund. He asked why. I told him that there was a hair in my food order. He asked to see it. I showed him the quesadilla and he accused me of putting it there. I told him why would I do that when I just ordered the food. It doesn't make any sense. I asked him politely if he wanted to resolve it and give me a refund if not I'm going to go online and write a review. He refused the refund. They were hard up for the money. He also told me that I tried this before. I told him that I never been to his business before and that asking for a refund is not a crime. I told him that I wasn"t satisfied with the quality of the food and I wanted my money back. I tried taking a photo of him and he was hiding his face. I told him why was he hiding. He acted very guilty. I'm posting the photo of him and the hair that I found in the food. Will not go back again. Now I know why they don't accept credit cards. It makes it harder for customers to dispute the charges. read more

Humm maybe that they have the most awsome beef hard shell tacos ever..!! the ground beef in the tacos is seasond well and they put a mound of cheese and a half slice of tomato..and their Special Quesadia is more like a Pastrami Buro with cheese, lettuce, tomatos, and watery but surpisingly good green stuff (guacamole), and they are very reasonably prcied.. My family has been going here for years. We eat something from here maybe once every two weeks. I usually get the 4 finger hamburger because it is really good. The guy who is always there is really nice and he has become pretty good friends with my grandfather. This establishment is cash only. I'm okay with that as long as everything else is great. The wait is too long given that there was no line. I ordered a couple of burgers for my family and the chile relleno burrito. I thought the burrito tasted fine. Not impressed my it but it was ok. The burgers were "tasteless" according to my family. I've been passing by this place for years. I'm a Pico Rivera local, and I've avoided businesses in this part of the city because growing up here, it was known to be a bad area. Boy, was I wrong not to come to Lupe's. The first day I ordered Carne asada tacos, and they were great! Next day, carnitas burrito, just as good. Beans are great, perfect amount of seasoning. Day after that, Chicharrones and beans. Took my son for a Torta and he now is a fan too! We shared chili fries with Carne asada on top and that was a meal in itself (you'll need to ask for it, it's not on the menu). They take your order and your food comes out fast and hot. Very displeased with the joint, felt ripped off. I ordered a carne asada burrito, which turned out mediocre, no guacamole and wanted to add cheese. I was charged a $1 for the cheese. When did cheese start costing more than guacamole? I asked the man who took my order and he just shrugged his shoulders. Never going back there again.
