There's also a wide range of people and body shapes. It's never usually that busy to where you can't get to the equipment you need. Their classes are included in the monthly fee. They also have a couple different pools, an outdoor water park, putt putt, and tennis courts. They have a sauna and each locker room but it's kind of small. I also wish they had a regular hot tub but they do have a small saltwater pool that is warm. They offer child care and discounts on your monthly fee depending on your financial status and if you're a city or school employee. They also have an outdoor pond that you can walk around when the wheather is nice.

However, the girl in there mumbles thats she's not open yet and that they don't open until 4. Already sounds like she doesn't want to be there. I'm nice amd say that its okay I'll just wait. So i'm standing there waiting and she walks out the room at 3:56-57. She say's nothing so I'm assuming I can just still stand there amd wait. Right at 3:58-59, ONE minute or TWO before opening no one is still there untill...... a lady and another girl come in. The lady has this worried look on her face and instead of being nice and speaking to me like a person. She was rude and her demeanor towards me was soo off. She basically said I wasn't allowed to be in there unless a worker was in there because its basically the rules and not allowed. But the way she said it was just rude. I told her NO ONE had told me that and mind you it's like 3:59pm and as she was basically expecting me to walk out and I am, she put her hand on my shoulder and to me that felt like she was helping me walk out but not in a nice way. My question is why be all that rude a minute before opening. All she had to do was tell me the rules and by then it would have been 4pm and I wouldn't have had to walk out. I just left. I was too stunned. I definitely wasn't going to leave my child with teenage workers that look like they hate their jobs and that other lady must have been the manager or something. Someone should definitely check her and tell her it's not okay to be rude or put her hands on people. I'm upset I had to cancel my membership but yeah. Not worth it. I'll take my business elsewhere.

I don't remember the individual staff members, but it was cool to think about the place I learned to swim, tread water and dive, valuable life skills and great memories. Later in life, my aunt used to let me come here on her membership to work out with her when I was visiting. Pretty neat! Great family vibes and a great place for kids. The Y has gotten crazy expensive everywhere. I think it's great if you have a family, but if you don't, it's hard to justify the cost.

Two years ago, I was in a spin class and the pedal that my left foot was strapped into broke, and…read moretrashed my foot. It did not start hurting immediately but a few days later I could hardly walk. I repeatedly tried to get management to respond to the incident by speaking to the front desk folks. Finally contacted the director, had a meeting with him, and sent a report of the accident to him. The instructor did not write up the accident but said that the machine had just been repaired and she hoped that I was not hurt. The insurance company representative got back to me just after the two-year limit was met, which meant that I could not sue them due to Virginia law and denied the claim. He also said that the YMCA does not maintain any repair records of their equipment and that there was no indication that there was a spin bike with a broken pedal. I have pictures of the bike and it is still in the back storage area. The insurance company also said that I could not sue the YMCA which is a lie. All I wanted for them to do was to pay for my deductible expenses and cover the cost of orthotics due to the plantar fasciitis injury. Please be careful if you use this gym because they do not maintain their equipment. Very sad about how I was treated by this company and I had always held them in high regard but not anymore.

Despite this, it wasn't until a month into the program--during a conversation with one of his counselors about some concerns they had--that I learned the counselors working directly with him were unaware of his diagnosis. I was told that now that they were informed, they would "be more patient moving forward," which is a bit concerning--especially since counselors should be patient with all young children, regardless. Another issue was swim time. My son is somewhat hesitant around water. Prior to enrollment, I was assured that there would be at least one counselor in the pool with the children to support those who may feel anxious. I understand that the camp staff are responsible for many children and that some require significant attention. However, based on the information I was given, I expected a level of support that would make my son feel safe and included--particularly in environments he finds challenging. That wasn't the case, and I later learned the pool is 4ft deep--about the same height as my son. With no adult in the water, I don't feel the environment is safe for such young kids as small as a 5 year old, especially one who isn't completely comfortable in a 4ft pool. I also experienced a lack of confidentiality and security. During the first week, neither I nor my son's other approved pickup adults were asked for ID at pick up. Only when I brought it up did someone check--once. Additionally, when I raised a concern about my son's stretched-out shirt at pick up, the counselor named the other child involved, which felt unprofessional and violated that family's privacy. As someone who holds fond memories of attending YMCA's summer camp myself, I had high hopes my son would have a similarly positive experience. Unfortunately, due to these communication gaps, safety concerns and unmet expectations, that hasn't been the case.

Gym area is not air conditioned well probably because the dehumidifier doesn't work. They need an operational manager there that actually cares and comes out to look at everything and everyone. The employee at the front desk as soon as you walk in to your left said there was not an indoor track and wanted to know if I wanted a tour of the facility. Of course I said yes, why not?. He showed me where everything was at, the outside pool, the room where you take classes and also the weight room along with the location of the men's and ladies room and the locker rooms as well.. I didn't get a chance to snap any pictures because he was brief during the walkthrough. I would visit this location again, but next time I will know that there is no indoor track to do my cardio workouts, but there is everything else available here for all your other workout needs! It's located right off the exit and only a stop light separates me getting back on the exit...super convenient to home. They have recently added an outdoor playground in the past year or two... great addition. I absolutely love it when the weight room is pretty much empty. The weight room consists of free weights, a Smith Machine, a couple of benches, cardio machines and weighted machines. While this isn't the best center in the world to someone who appreciates the simplicity of a workout center... this is your place to be. The parking lot can get a bit tight, but I have never had a issue with parking. I am usually in and out in 30 minutes. A few years ago I enrolled my daughter in their Summer Camp... very super active children. But one year in that camp was enough for my child. Instructor classes are offered throughout the week and on weekends as well. Check the schedule or ask an employee for a listing. There's only an outdoor pool here...
