EDIT; in reply to the owner's response: I was never told that the salon was understaffed on the original phone call or when we entered for our appointment. We noticed ourselves that only 3 people were working and we were fine with waiting. Her response also has nothing to say about the bad service we received. She also did not say anything about her being the only one who does designs, and my design was done by one of the other employees. (Early apologies if this feels like a novel, but I want to give as clear and accurate as a review as possible.) Unfortunately, my mom, friend and I had an unpleasant experience at this salon yesterday. I called at 9:30am asking if there was any last-minute availability for 3 manicures at 5:30pm the same day, and the owner told me that we could come in. When we arrived at 5:20, there were 3 appointments being worked on by the 3 employees, so we didn't mind waiting since we were a little early and they seemed short staffed. They gave my mom a bowl of hot acetone to start soaking her nails in as well as a paper towel to "play with" (exact wording). I've been to a ton of different salons around but I've never been to one where they make you take your own polish off, so this seemed pretty strange to me. At this point, I myself have been waiting about 15 minutes to be helped and they just got started on my friend's nails, which again was fine since they seemed understaffed and finishing up other appointments. I was then also given a bowl of hot acetone and a paper towel to play with, but when I tried explaining that I had dipped nails and I didn't think that it would come off unless the top coat was shaved off, they told me to keep trying. For the next 15 min, I kept soaking my nails and trying to scrape the polish off with the paper towel, but nothing was happening aside from my hands becoming pretty dry from the acetone. The owner seemed annoyed when I was only soaking and not "playing," but again, nothing was happening because of the top coat. When I was finally seen by an employee, I was then helped by a nice man who was unfortunately very rough with the dremel tool and kept slipping off my nail onto my skin, which was pretty painful. Today, my fingers are very puffy and irritated from the roughness of the tool. He did a great job with my dip application and I'm really happy with how they turned out, but the whole time I felt like a burden because it felt like they were trying to get the 3 of us out of there as fast as possible. All of us felt very rushed especially because halfway through our appointments, two women came in and asked if they could do pedicures, and the owner agreed. I felt uncomfortable when my nail tech sped up even faster in order to finish and was annoyed when I asked him to make a small change to the design that was only on my ring fingers. Hopefully this was just an off day for the salon and it's normally not like this. I had high hopes especially from all the positive reviews here, but ultimately I won't be returning in the future. I'm very disappointed in Lux Nails. I came back to give them another shot and was greeted kindly upon walk in appointment arrival. They asked which service I needed and I answered with "Just a color change please." They said a few words in another language all laughed an pointed at the very young girl, in the back. She rolled her eyes, walked up to me and asked me to pick a color the guided me to the seat. I tried to have a little conversation but she did speak much English. The first time around she painted a clear coat for nail strengthening over my nail before putting the color on. After finishing the color and turning on the fan I noticed the sides were not all painted and there were a couple large bubbles on my thumb nails. I asked her if that's normal and the guy behind had to translate to which then she tried painting over the bubbles making them taller. Eventually she took the polish off one thumb nail and started over not using the base strengthening coat as she did before. The second time around had no bubbles but you can tell where one layer of color overlaps the other.. In fact on all of my nails you can see that and the sides are dramatically not painted. I tried communicating with them about this issue then decided it's fine I just liked the pink and wanted everyone to be happy. A couple days after leaving I called them and asked what to do because my nails were insanely white on the sides and you dramatically see the layer of paint overlaps, not because I've worn them out or anything it was just an unfortunate paint job. I feel like they wanted the young girl to get practice and that's why they put her on an "easier" job but that's not fair to the paying customer who is expecting a quality nail job. When I called them they told my color changes only last a couple days anyways, not listening to the fact my nails weren't painted correctly to begin with. At one point a couple ladies spoke to each other in their language then one responded to me but the phone was distorted so I said "I'm so sorry I couldn't hear you the phone broke up could you repeat that," and they hung up. I always believe in giving businesses second chances when I don't have an amazing first experience but in this case I was more disappointed by the way they treated me the second time around and not offering to complete the job in a professional manner. I will not be recommending them or coming back here. And don't fall for the Axxess promotion deal online because they do not follow through with it in shop. read more

Sadly this place was a total disappointment to say the least !!!! I called and spoke with a gentleman and made appointments for mani pedis for my mom and myself. When I asked why it was "too late" for at least manicure, (it was the middle of the day) she rudely told me "NO special gloves for you!!!" It felt like a TV episode?! I asked again if I could just get a manicure. "NEXT TIME!" She exclaimed. uh, what? "SORRY?!" I SAID , "NO NEXT TIME!" The next thing I know, I gave her my credit card to pay for my mother. And the woman is charging me full price for my moms manicure? No polish, no buff?? And handing me the hand held device to fill in a $12.58 tip! Or more?? Huh?! I've been to Lux multiple times now and have had my nails done by numerous employees there. While the quality isn't the same across the staff, each are consistent and will deliver the same level of work if you visit them again. Having said that, my favorite is Sophie! She is very detail-oriented and meticulous about shape, color, consistency and experience. I have very thin nails and sensitive cuticles so I often bleed a little during my manicures. Sophie has never accidentally nicked me or been too harsh with the sander drill thing. You can tell from watching her work how focused she is on delivering a good end product and I appreciate that quality! I got a dip powder manicure and Sophie did a different technique than the last person who did one for me at Lux. Her technique led to a smooth, clean finish. I recommend NEVER coming to this nail salon. The manager is incompetent and has absolutely no idea how to resolve an issue regarding customers complaints. After my nails were finished (dip manicure), I had complained about a lack of consistency in shape, thickness, etc. My nail technician didn't cut cuticles, remove dead skin, etc when I had paid for a full manicure. I was cut multiple times, every time I had pulled away to show I was in pain, he just continued the same way - no apologies or correction. No sanitizing of the area either. As I was paying, I mentioned to the manager that I didn't feel like I should have been paying a full $50, as there was barely a manicure and almost every single nail was uneven or sloppy. She gave me a $10 discount (which was more than I expected) and I left. About an hour later, the top clear coat layer of almost every single nail started to peel off (I attached photos). I wasn't going to go back, but seeing as I paid a full $40 (PLUS tip) I thought it would be a good idea to see what they had to say. When I got back, I was barely paid attention to. I was asked to come back later and received a very rude attitude from the manager. As I tried to show her the problems, I was either ignored or told "that's nothing" (talking about the clear coat peeling off). The manager said she was not responsible for my nails, that it was her employee's responsibility. I've been going to this nail salon since it opened in 2016. I cannot say enough good things about it! Chi is amazing, kind and her work is incredible. All the staff that works there are really good too! They've all been doing nails for a long time and have really perfected their craft. From regular nail polish to gel, dip, designs, they do it all. I've went to other salons in town because people have given me gift cards and they don't compare to Lux. I like getting dip powder and most places do them too thick. Lux doesn't make them thick like other salons. They make them look so natural and even. The massage chairs for the pedicures are new and it feels so good/relaxing. I am not one to write negative reviews, and quite frankly I do not want a response back from this business because they reply back quite rudely to their customers and thats why I did not return for a refund. I called and asked for a gel manicure and they told me to come right away. I already had a gel manicure done on my healthy natural nails and I asked for a polish change, a shortening of my nails, and a simple gem design. I told the nail artist exactly what I wanted again when walking in and thought it would be clear because I did not have acrylics. Things were going well and the guy filed my natural nails into a coffin shape, which I asked for. I had one broken nail and was fine with getting regular gel polish on it and I thought he suggested an acrylic for it and I agreed for that one nail (so I thought) because it's going to be my birthday and one of the last times I am getting my nails done since I am a broke college student so I was fine with splurging a little to have the broken nail match the rest of my natural nails. As my natural nails were already pretty long, I asked him to shorten them a little and he said "cut?" and I said yes because I did not want them too long. He then cut all my nails down to my finger and that's when I knew this was going to turn bad. He pulled out the acrylic nail tips and put them on my fingers and I did not know what to say, as I was already extremely clear with what I wanted and I knew that since he cut my nails to their base that my nails were not going to look good short. When putting on the acrylic powder, the electric file that he used kept touching my cuticles and irritating/cutting my skin. I have gotten dozens of acrylic nail sets when I was younger and stopped getting them because they destroyed my natural nails and I have never been cut by an artist. He then asked if I wanted my cuticles cut because it would look better for $5 and I said yes because I trusted him. Since my cuticles were already cut, the hot water that I placed my hands in burned the cuts and I said that it was too hot but he did not do anything to cool the water off. Usually, nail salons include cuticle care in with the price of a manicure so I was caught off guard. When doing my cuticles, he cut my actual skin to the point that my finger wouldn't stop bleeding until I got home which is very unsanitary. He used a brush to wipe off the acrylic dust from filing my nails, and I just know my blood got all over it and the brush did not look clean either which should be a violation. ADDITIONALLY, the nail color on the display was not the same color that I received. On the display, it was a grey toned ashy blue, but the polish in the bottle was brighter and more of an "electric" blue. When I asked to put the gems on my nails, they were put on unevenly and the gel polish got on the side of my nails which I know will peel easily from having experience with nail salons. I came in expecting to get a $40 gel manicure, like how it says on their yelp page, and walked out spending nearly $100. My friend, who came into the salon with me, did not like her nails either and decided to tip $3 since she pointed out the mistakes made on her nails and the lady did not offer to lower the price of her nails. The lady who helped us when paying yelled "She only gave you $3" to her nail artist, so when it came to my turn to pay, the lady HOVERED over the payment device and I saw that the only tipping options were 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35%. It is extremely disrespectful to hover over a payment device and I tipped 20% (over $15) for the worst manicure I have ever gotten in my life. I am not one to complain or tip below 20% at any establishment, as I know people work hard for what they do, but the overall atmosphere was very disrespectful especially when I came in for a $40 gel manicure + gemstones and walked out with a $100 full set of acrylics. I am genuinely surprised that when I showed the lady at the front desk my bloody nails, that she did not offer to lower the price, as any respectful company who cares about their clients would. I felt scammed walking out of there since I did not ask for acrylic nails nor did I ask for bloody nails. There was acrylic all over my fingers and the sides weren't even filed correctly and are already starting to lift, hours after getting them done. My blood is literally cured into the gel polish and will probably be there until these fall off. I posted my nails on my social media, and literally every person that replied said to get a refund, but I definitely do not want to walk back in there after the mannerisms that they so clearly displayed. If i asked for acrylics, it would have been a decent set, but walking in expecting one thing and leaving with what I did not ask for is what soiled my experience read more

I would not recommend going here. I asked for my nails to be evened out but they cut off my long nails right to the end so shaping was limited. When I asked for them to be shaped round they said "short nails don't round" despite there still being room to do that. They proceeded to try but they still didn't round them and after my second time asking with them still being uneven and portly shaped I ended up taking the file and rounding it out myself.... Normally I would never do that but they were VERY uneven since he had made very little effort to actually shape the nails. They also CUT MY FOOT.
