I purchased a Groupon for microdermabrasion and called them to ask questions, but they didn't pick up the phone so I went to my appointment as scheduled. When I got there, the receptionist gave me a form to fill out and said I would be attended when my appointment time came. She was courteous enough and I obviously had no problem waiting. During the wait time, I noticed a woman walking back and forth and she would stare at me every time she passed. They were rather odd stares, but I figured she was just observing her next client so whatever. When my appointment time came, she came over and I said hello & smiled, but I didn't get much receptiveness from her. Not the best of starts, but here we go... Once in the room, she had me lay down and stared for a good couple of minutes until she said that my face was "too inflamed" to do a microdermabrasion. I had a few bumps on my face (as an acne sufferer) and this could have been avoided had someone picked up my call when I called to ask questions. I had a few scattered bumps, but not a face completely covered in acne either. Online it says the procedure helps with acne, so what would I know? That's why I called! Her tone the entire time was deeply condescending. I've NEVER had someone speak to me that way. Next up, she had other people come in to look at me. One of the girls was very nice, but I unfortunately do not remember her name. She essentially told me to get a pumpkin mask. Considering I had just gone through the worst cservice experience in my life, I declined. When I stepped out, the receptionist said she would schedule another appointment for me, so I sat down while she did this. Meanwhile, the woman with the condescending tone was chatting lowly with another employee while looking over every 5-10 seconds. 1+1=2. There are ways to talk to people, especially if you are part of a small business. I had ABSOLUTELY NO problem with her telling me that for a microdermabrasion my face had to be an exact way. I did have a problem with the tone, her clearly talking about me while the receptionist rescheduled and the fact that I did not have to waste my time had someone picked up the phone to answer my questions. read more

I am a kind of particular when it comes to my face, can you blame me?, and she went above and beyond. She also educated me on what would work for my skin, and how to improve my daily skin routine. Scheduling was kind of a pain, they tried to change my appointment to be with someone else, but I specifically wanted Elizabeth as most of the yelp reviews rave about her! First time I try this place and... Even though i had an appointment they made me wait almost an hour. Not cool at all. I'm very disappointed because the girls were just chatting and another one was using her phone while I was just waiting there until I asked them 40 min later what was happening and finally someone called me in for the treatment 10 min later. Massage therapist was 'on call' so they said she'd be in for me a couple hours later. I was very nice about it & said that would be fine. I got a call 45 minutes before my 2nd appt saying massage therapist would not be able to make it in that day. No apology, no offer to extend my coupon since they screwed up. I have no desire to even try this place. That person missed out on a good tip. Worse haircut I've ever gotten. The girl who did it was pretty rude, didn't say a word when I went in, took about 10 minutes just to wash..totally silent, then began to tell me about her terrible cramps when I sat down. I asked for a very simple Bob cut.. Easy I would hope. Unfortunately the whole thing took almost an hour and a half and instead of a Bob I got a cut that looks a lot like Madeline.. Ya know the childrens book. After a day I noticed after staring in the mirror that its actually longer on the left side and the bangs look awful. Massage was not great at all. Felt more like a skin rub down than a massage, I've never been rocked back and forth so much during a massage. I purchased a 4 for $99 Microdermabrasion Groupon and have had 2 treatments so far. I've had to cancel an appt or 2 due to work but they are accommodating which is something other spas are not. Nice little gem in the center of city chaos. Thankfully there is parking on the street in front, although it's paid, but reasonable at $2 an hour, I usually pay $3 for hour and a half in case time runs over. There's also a Dollar Tree walking distance so it makes my trip to Luxe a 2-fer :) The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, pleasant and personable. I never give 5 stars because I feel any business has room to improve but I will definitely keep going here after my Groupon is complete. read more

I give them 5 stars I found the spa via group on and they had a great deal. I was there today for my first microdermabrasion treatment ever. I was quite nervous and had lots of questions and concerns. I spoke to over the phone Claudia the day before my treatment and she was VERY pleasant and informative. She answered all my questions and assured me I was in good hands, that she had been performing various procedures for over 6 years. The day of I arrived at the spa much more at ease. It was a calming and soothing atmosphere inside. I went with my roommate, we filled out some paper work and was offered coffee or tea. I was 5 degrees outside, ouch! I volunteered my roommate to go first, she had had various procedures done in the past. About 20 mins later it was my turn. Again Claudia explained everything to me before she started, the she began! At first my face was massaged and cleansed, then she tested a small section of the mircoderm on the side of my cheek close to my ear. As I'd been told, it was not unpleasant at all. She increased the strength of the suction, still not unpleasant I dear even say it was rather relaxing, then she proceeded with the treatment. About mid way she stopped so I could see and feel the different in my skin. Believe me when I say I have never felt my skin feel so silky smooth, it was amazing. She completed the procedure the applied a warm towel to reintroduce some moisture back into my skin. This was followed by another cleanse and message. All done. My skin felt absolutely amazing and I was already hooked! My skin felt naturally bright and rejuvenated. I have a lot of hyperpigmentation for old and not so old acne scars. I know I will need multiple treatments to see a significant difference in their appearance so I really do want to return to achieve this goal. Claudia is very pleasant and skilled. I was given a Groupon by my Mom for Christmas along with my Sister, I called and asked for an appointment where we could go in at the same time, meant two rooms, not us in the same room waiting on the other. Our appointment was to 2:00, I got a message at 12:45 that she was running late, could we make it 2:30? Well I guess. . . we arrived a bit early and were told she had to run out and should be back by 2:30. She arrived at about 2:30 wearing a college sweatshirt and boots, not very spa like. We were ushered into a room together and I sat on stool while my sister was treated for about 15 minutes then I went. I know the Groupon included something in addition to the microdermabrasion but that was all we got. I wouldn't recommend this place, I felt like they cheated us and were not professional in dealing with us and yes, we did tip her. So I bought a groupon for microdermabrasion, 4 for $99. It was my first time having a microdermabrasion, and it was a very relaxing experience. I had Rosa, she explained everything she was going to do before hand. I loved that she washed her hands IN FRONT OF ME, prior to the procedure! A++ for hygiene! She talked to me, but not like a chatter box, which i appreciated very much, because I really needed a relaxing environmnent even if it was just for a short period of time. She didn't try to sell me anything, but I did ask about what services they offer and she told me about the most popular and gave me a pamphlet with some prices at the end. My face looks slightly brighter, just slightly though. I'm hoping for more noticeable improvement after I use all 4. Face is super smooth/soft and my husband said the black heads on my nose are less noticeable. Already scheduled my next appt! read more

So my roommate bought me a deal from livingsocial for the microdermabrasion & a full body swedish massage with the thai bodywrap for my birthday week. I love getting massages so I was pretty excited for that, never had a thai bodywrap or the microdermabrasion so I was overall excited for the whole experience actually, but I know that sometimes when buying these deals online the places can either be a hit or miss. I read some of the other reviews on Luxe Blue before my appointment but they were not really helpful so I walked in optimistic. First. The receptionist was friendly and attentive but I did find it very classless to have their customers pay before the appointment but no big deal whatever. I started off with the microdermabraion with this extremely sweet and obviously well experienced polish women whom I wish I could remember her name. But she did a great job and started my appointment off nicely ( which is why I did give some stars) Next was time for my massage. ( again wishing I could remember names ) Took my clothes off , laid on the table, Ive had my share of massages so I knew the drill. I really hate to be the person to complain but so many things just started going wrong from that point. It was completely silent in the room which I didnt mind but most spas have relaxation music playing ( which was actually playing in the microdermabrasion room ) but for some reason wasnt in the next room I was in and the only reason it was brought to my attention was because all of the sudden I started only hearing every conversation everyone else in the place was having. The lady had began her massage where I felt uncomfortable for the sole fact that I could feel how uncomfortable she even was for some reason. It was almost like she was nervous to touch me. Number one way to spot a unexperienced masseuse is when they constantly ask you questions. PLEASE do not ask me one more time if i am okay ? or what would i like ? You as a masseuse should know the body I have never had to talk so much on the table. Meanwhile the music was actually broken so people were coming in and out of my room as I was laying on the table still naked under the blanket having people trying to figure out the music situation. Their solution at that point was to just put a speaker in my room where terrible and loud music then began to play right in my ear. After that I just didnt even want to continue laying down. My back way itching me from how light she was touching me, she kept doing the samethings over and over again because everytime something distracted her she would restart, the music was giving me a headache , I could still hear people talking around me. It was my birthday, I did not wanna stick around. Didnt even get to experience whatever the thai bodywrap wouldve consisted of but I was not worried about it. Awkward moment was walking out , everyone apologizing to me a million times , trying to figure out how to refund me now since I of course already paid upfront...... 6 business days later my refund was complete and the receptionist did follow up which I did appreciate. If youre gonna do the microderambraion session I would totally say go for it. As far as a massage goes. Book it somewhere else baby. read more

The salon is beautiful and in a good location. However, the service was horrible. Went in for an eyebrow wax with Claudia. I knew something was wrong when I was asked to remain upright in my chair facing a wall - not laying down as normally done for eyebrow waxing. I walked out with two different shaped eyebrows and the area still looks like it needs to be cleaned up. She waxed, but not between the brows and zero shaping. To top it off, the guy at the counter asked me if I wanted change at checkout. Rude. Of course, I want change and then I want to decide how much to tip, if anything at all. One star because there's option for no stars! I was a walk-in trying to get a polish change or manicure. They said the mani was $20, which I wouldn't pay for a mani unless I really knew they would do a good job. I was just walking in so I opted for the quick polish change. The girl painting my nails couldn't even be 16, let alone have any professional experience with nails! She went straight for the polish without even filing my nails, which is standard for a polish change! I quickly took note and said I'd go for the manicure instead. Big mistake! She didn't even soak my nails! She put cuticle oil on and that was it! The worst part of it all was that I waited at least 15 min in the salon for my nails to dry. They were closing and I felt rushed so I left doubtful that my nails were completely dry. They got so smudged and ruined I had to take the polish off and redo my whole mani again. This is my second time coming here. The staff is very welcoming, warm, and professional. Both times I got my hair done by Claudia. She did a fantastic job. She listened to every detail and took her time to ensure that I was satisfied with my look. I absolutely love it! When I came in my hair looked dead. I needed a color and cut that would add shine and body. She helped me pick out a perfect natural brown tone by discussing what would look good for the season and with my complexion. It came out even better than I had imagined! It is clear to me that she is an experienced stylist who understands her work. I also appreciated that she showed me how to work the round brush at the right angles to add more volume to my roots. I left feeling very happy with my new look. She was very friendly and welcoming. since it was my first time she described what the process did and how long it would take. I apreciate that b/c if she had just started scraping my face i would have probably cried. She was also very informative on giving me tips for my skin, staying hydrated, what face moisturizers to use, etc. The spa itself is very quaint and welcoming and not a lot of noise . NEVER AGAIN! They have a young man who is still in school and he actually cuts hair on his own with NO guidance. It took him 3.5 hours to cut and style my daughters hair. When he was done, she didn't even look as if she had just had a cut. When I complained as to how long it was taking him, I was told that he was one of the top 10 students of the school. I was charged $30 for her haircut that was done by a student. In that case, I could have gone to the school and paid $10. I noticed that the staff is either students or recent graduates and their pricing is ridiculous. read more

The aesthetician (Alicja) did an amazing job by measuring my facial & brow features and then tracing the exact outline of the brow with a white pencil prior to waxing. My brows have never been nicer and more symmetrical. I purchased an online deal for a microdermabrasion treatment since it was uber close to my local neighborhood (I'd never heard/seen this place before) and scheduled an appointment online to come in. First off, let me just say, the scheduling was hilarious since I have a very hectic life and as such, the salon was very accomodating and persistent in keeping in touch until we could finally arrange a good day/time. Was very impressed they wanted my business and were willing to work for it, as it were. Having said that, I scheduled an appointment (this was this last Friday) and came in anticipating what I've become accustomed to at other facilities - that being an interrogation over what products I use and why they're horrible and why it's my fault my skin is so awful, etc, etc, etc. I was also not in the greatest of moods the day of my appointment - having had a pretty horrendous day at work so quite honestly, I wasn't sure I could deal with any further mental anguish about my personal appearance. In any case, I was most pleasantly surprised and grateful to find everyone at the spa to be friendly, down-to-earth and 'soothing.' I know that sounds ilke a strange word to use but it couldn't be more accurate. I was immediately and consistently relaxed throughout my appointment during which time, product suggestions weren't forced upon me (I actually had to inquire on my own which was very refreshing) and I wasn't scolded for skin care regime (or lack thereof). I was most satisfied with the results of my visit and have just purchased another deal. I look forward to returning and suggest you guys give this place a go as they have such a meek sincerity about them I find quite rare in this industry. read more
