I'll start off by saying I have longer than average hair- for a guy at least. After going to barbers with mixed skill levels and results over the years, and after going to a barber in 2016 and getting my hair ruined, I knew I needed to go to see someone who was more professional and experienced with cutting and shaping longer hair. I was referred to Marissa at Luxe by my mother and every time I've gone it's been a great experience with her and my hair has been exactly what I wanted it to be. Everyone else is super friendly too, and in the one time I had Deborah style my hair for an event she also did an amazing job. This is a great salon and I'll continue to go here every time I need to get my hair done or touched up. read more

Honestly, I feel really terrible about my experience. So I had faded blue ombre and I went in to get my hair colored dark brown for my wedding. (trying to treat myself since it's my wedding). The stylist recommended that we put the color over my blue and try and cover it up, so I agreed to that. She cut and colored my hair and she did a good job but mentioned that once I wash my hair I might see the blue come through. She said that if it starts to show, I can come back in to get a gloss or something put on top. First appointment cost for color and cut: $190 Fast forward a week and you could definitely see a green tint in my hair in the sunlight so I called back in and made another appointment. When I get there she explains that we actually need to lift the color out of my hair before we color it again, which is why it didn't work before. I'm not sure why she didn't recommend this to me at my first appointment. :-( She said it will be $40 to do the lift, so I go ahead and agree to lift my hair color. So she does a shampoo/bleach wash and the blue comes out pretty quickly. We get back to the chair and she dries it and it turned out a light brown color. She then tells me that if I want to color my hair darker brown it will be another $100 for the color. I've already paid a bunch of money and I'm feeling uneasy so I just say I'm fine with the light brown/blonde color. During this appointment, I also got an eyebrow wax. I paid at the register, not even thinking about the cost because I was just ready to be out of there. I didn't realize that the receptionist charged me $120. I ended up calling the salon back to ask how $40 for the lift and $20 for the wax turned into $120. Her answer is that they charged me to blow dry my hair!!! After all of the money and time I spent I am so mad that they charged me to blow dry my hair. When she asked if I wanted my hair styled, I even told her no because I was just heading home. They let clients pay those salon prices and let them leave with wet hair if they don't want to pay??? So I paid $310 for me to go to Sallys and color my own hair at home. read more

I was trying to get an unplanned last minute appointment and tried my chance with Luxe again and voila , I found Bernadette Garcia. She patiently listened to what I was looking for, kept me honest on what will work and will not and politely recommended suggestions. She took her time to give me a great base color and partial highlights. I received a great haircut as well. She not only knows what she is doing but is a great one at it. Had some highlights done a couple of months ago and my roots were growing back and of course you could see the line of demarcation. But Mai came to the rescue! She was able to darken my hair and blend in my roots with the highlights so that it looked more like an ombré instead. Amazing work, followed by some bang trimming. She's so sweet and talented. Emma is wonderful. Finding a stylist who is good with both cut and color (highlights in my case), who listens to you, and delivers on point can be challenging. In the past I typically didn't like how stylists fixed my hair. I would return home to redo it before going anywhere, but that is not the case here. Emma consistently delivers. I really want to like this place....It's close and super convenient. The inside of the salon itself is nice. The color I received was just o.k. The girl that did my hair reeked of cigarette smoke which made the appt. a very miserable and long process. The fact that the owner will not allow tips to be added on the credit card tab alone is reason enough to never come back here. I've never heard of a high end salon doing this. I had to leave, go to an ATM, and make a special trip back to leave a tip in cash. My stylist, Kristina, made it a point to create a relaxing, detox-from-the-day environment as she cut my hair. Not only did she fix a terrible haircut I endured at a different salon (which my husband attempted to fix *disastrous*), she also used her expertise to interpret the look I was going for and shape my hair to match it. As a guy, I used to get my hair cut at a barber shop or anywhere where I could get my hair cut inexpensively and fast. The results tended to be a bit on the abysmal side, given that I have curly hair and it tends to look a bit sloppy when cut poorly. Then I found the Luxe Salon and I have been coming here to get my hair cut for about 8 months and I must say that the service and the quality of the haircut are phenonmenal!! Got my haircut at Luxe 3 times. First time was awesome. Then I found out the stylist had left. Second time, it was okay. I was hoping for a cool-unique hairstyle, but there was no WOW factor. On my return visit, it was better. Then I find out this stylist had left also. At Luxe, you definitely get what you pay for. The service is top-notch. The stylists look and act like professional stylists. The place is clean and they treat you like a loyal customer. My haircuts have ranged from $35-$45. The interior is very swanky yet with an almost industrial look - VERY pretty! There is a great little gift shop area with random things like jewelry and picture frames. Seriously, I cannot thank Luxe Salon and specifically Mai for the amazing work on my hair. Last weekend, I went to a different salon (despite being recommended Luxe) to get a brown-to-red balayage and cut...and they totally botched it! It wasn't at all what I wanted, my hair looked terrible, and I was so embarrassed. The customer service at this other salon was so bad that I couldn't imagine going back to ask them to fix my hair. I emailed Luxe a few days later after finally deciding to take up that recommendation. I didn't even know specifically I needed Mai. The woman who replied was prompt and concise (replying to my email on a day the salon is CLOSED!!), telling me that they could squeeze me in this week and that the woman who could fix my hair was Mai. She offered to call me the next day to get an appointment set up. They were able to get me in TWO days later! (I emailed Sunday, they replied Monday, I was called on Tuesday, and my appointment was Thursday. It was a very fast turnaround) I spent all Thursday morning in the chair with Mai. She gave me thoughtful comments and options on what to do with my hair and was completely honest. Even though I was mostly happy with the cut of my hair, she offered to also give it a quick trim to even up the layers that the other salon botched (I coudn't even really tell). I spent way more hours at the salon and a bit more money than I had wanted to, but it was completely and utterly worth it. Mai was amazing. The atmosphere is awesome. Everyone was so friendly. And the best part, Mai completely fixed my hair! It looks amazing now and I haven't stopped receiving compliments on it. I realize now that if I had just gone to Mai in the first place, I would not have been so upset about the money I had to spend to get my hair fixed. It's my own fault it was so pricey! I will be going back to Mai for as long as I'm able to. She's simply a goddess among stylists and I am so lucky she could work her magic on my mane. I'm so, so, so happy with my hair. Amazing! I wish I had before and after pictures. I went into Luxe after a frustrating week of contemplating whether or not to shave my head. I have a lot of long straight hair that got chopped to pieces by a stylist that overused her texturizing shears Dale fit me in the next day and accurately assessed and reshaped my hair then charged me for a bang trim (!). He told me how to style it and I left a new woman. I now love this place and will be going back again soon. read more

Deanna was my stylyst and she was very caring throughout the process, helping me to select a color and figuring how to best add highlights to my curly hair. Mai is the absolute best!! If this review was only for her I'd give her 5 stars. She's so meticulous and detail oriented. I've had my hair cut with her and I've loved it every time! I recently had an experience with another lady there and my experience was pretty awful. Mai was booked and I only had limited dates so I went with another staff member that was supposed to have a lot of experience and her price point was in the higher range. When I got there she was not at all friendly, did not provide guidance (my first time getting a balayage) or ask questions about my preference. When she was done you couldn't even tell I had colored my hair except for the fact that my gray was covered. I asked multiple people and they could not tell I had my hair colored. I really tried to let it go but decided I needed to call back especially with the amount of money I spent. I didn't even bring up my hair cut which by the way I had to fix on my own at home because there was a strand of hair that was longer than the rest of my hair. She definitely added more color to my hair but it looked more like thick highlights AND she charged me $70 to fix it. I wish I had more balls to say something again but I figured at this point I just accept it for what it is and move on. I would hands down recommend Mai. It's otherwise a wonderful salon but this experience really ruined it for me. read more

I've been hopping around trying to find a decent stylist who knew how to cut and color my hair and I think I've finally found it! I came in with the worse haircut since my mushroom cut. Clearly she had no idea what I had envisioned! So, my adventure for a new salon began! I took a chance with Luxe. I was roaming around Preston and I stumbled upon Luxe, and boy am I thankful! At first glance this place seems a bit out of place. A salon combined with a gift shop kind of threw me off, but it was nice to roam around while waiting to be consulted. At the front desk I wasn't greeted as friendly as I would have liked, but it was 3 hours close to closing and I could see she was agitated with working. Still no excuse for an attitude. Although, my whole experience from the wash to cut to style was amazing. My stylist, Denna, made it clear to formerly explain to me before hand what she was going to do to my hair and how she would be bleaching and highlighting my hair. Denna is a miracle worker! She was able to kept my length while maintaining a great shape around my face. She made sure to guide me each step of the way. As a result, my hair was healthier, shiny, and full of volume; which was quite a surprise! I'll definitely be back for Denna! read more

I have been going to an Aveda salon for quite some time and became unhappy that my hair stylist wasn't listening to what I wanted, and my hair was looking terrible for as much as I was paying for highlights. I was so unhappy with my hair even though I recently had it done, I started to look for a new place. I was nervous and worried about starting over and picking a new place without a recommendation. I made an appointment with Deborah and took a chance, and I'm SO GLAD that I did! Deborah listened to what I wanted and absolutely hit it out of the park! She did my highlights and cut my hair, and it looks amazing, I could not be happier with the result. I will most definitely be back to Luxe to have Deborah do my hair again! read more

I came for a consult for hand-tied hair extensions with Ryan to get a price for how much it would cost me. We talked about what I wanted for about 10 minutes and then when I asked for pricing she took me up to the counter, so I was with her and one of the owners, Angela, and said it would be $1,380 for them to purchase the hair today and then later $150 for coloring my hair and $200 for installation of the extensions the day they would be put in. The price was right for me and I had seen good reviews, so I paid for the hair and was under the expectation I would be paying approximately $400 (including tip) the day we scheduled to put them in about a week later... The day I had them put in, I enjoyed the initial service, but it turned into a very upsetting experience overall when I went to pay. I got up to the counter and I was given a total of over $1,700. I told the woman that there must be a mistake because I had already paid for the hair. She went to grab Ryan and that's when I was told the $1,380 I had already paid was a "deposit for the hair" and was expected to pay ANOTHER $1,380 for it. I mentioned several times that I was not told the amount I paid was a deposit, nor that I would have to pay anything more than the coloring and installation service. I was repeatedly told "I thought someone told you", but she and the owner were the only people I talked to during my consult and she was there the whole conversation and had to have known that no one had told me. My concerns were ignored after several attempts as multiple stylists just kept telling me that "oh, your hair looks great". I should not have, but I was blindsided and felt pressured and they made me feel stupid with them ignoring me as if it was a dumb question to ask about payment, and I ended up paying the total. After fuming at home at the overcharge from my quote, I went to the salon in person the next day to talk about my negative experience and see if something could be worked out. I spoke to Angela, one of the owners, over the phone the next next day, and went in as soon as they opened the third day after the service was done. I spent about an hour in the salon trying to explain how I was overcharged from the quote both her and Ryan gave me the day of my consult. She kept saying how "they normally are very good about telling people" and were "sure I was told", but I wasn't. She said she could not reverse any charge without her husband's, the other owner, approval. Joel called me later that day and we spoke for about 20 minutes. Apparently, Angela, had exaggerated my stance and he came off very aggressive at first until I assured him I did not ever want a full refund, just to pay for what I was told initially. He would not accept the idea a mistake in telling me the true cost was made because he had "two people telling him" I was told and "one" (me) telling him I was not. But those two people made a mistake that would cost you money, so of course they're going to say I'm just a belligerent customer. He ended up giving me a partial refund of a little over $400, but it still left me with over $640 overcharge. Whether they scammed me outright or it was just a mistake by Angela and Ryan relying on one another to tell me, so in turn nobody told me of the expected additional charge, I do not know. Regardless, you should not spend your money here... The owners are grossly unprofessional. I was completely and truly overcharged and was not told I was expected to pay an additional $1,380 the day of my service or ever. I was pressured into paying without regard for my calm and concerned questions. My extensions also slipped almost completely off my head on one side within 4 and a half weeks of installation (I tried to attach picture, but Yelp wouldn't let me. I was truly wearing them like an earring on both rows, not even just one) and had to be fixed, and, of course, I did not go here to get them fixed. I went somewhere much better. Somewhere that is much better and kinder to their clients, almost anywhere would be better. I hope this saves you some money, frustrating experiences, and gives you the advice to always get a confirmed list of expected charges upfront so this doesn't happen to you. read more

The inside is very chic. On one side of the salon is a little gift shop with lots of cute trinkets for purchase. When I first arrived, the lady at the front desk (who was very nice) led me to the back of the salon where I then changed into a nice robe before my dye job. She then brought me a specialty coffee drink while I waited for my stylist, Kristina, to arrive. Kristina was super friendly and a pleasure to be around. I was highlighting my hair for the first time in years and she really listened to my concerns for a natural and subtle color. Let me tell you, the end result was spot on!
