Adding difficulty was the timing -- the week of Thanksgiving. I researched and called many moving companies large and small. I read all the reviews from various web platforms, which plunged me into a deep dive of movers and scams. Many of the medium and large companies employ agents, despite claiming otherwise. After you make the deal, the person you spoke with will disappear and you'll be at the mercy of the actual moving company, which can turn out badly. We chose All About Moving and it was a blessing. The communication was great right from the initial inquiry. The move was from the Philly area to NY, with an extra stop at a storage unit, so there was a time crunch in order to finish before it got too late into the night (Abel and his team had a 3 hour drive back home). Start time would be 7:30AM. Except it wasn't. The morning of the move, apartment management informed us that we had to wait until the super got in with the key to the basement loading area. We lost 2.5 hours. To top it off, one of the 2 elevators was broken. Did I mention it was the Monday of Thanksgiving? Angry residents all laden with groceries, lots of outside deliveries, many visitors arriving ... it was chaos. Abel, Allie and Amador got right to work. Allie wrapped everything with care and they moved swiftly. They did back-breaking work with speed and patience. The move-in process was the same, and then on to a local storage unit for more unloading. These folks are the real deal, and worthy of your business. They have skill, muscle and hustle, yes. Their rate was unbeatable. And their generosity of spirit is a lovely bonus. Despite the obstacles, our move worked out smoothly from start to finish, thanks to Abel, Allie and Amador. I really wanted to write a good review because I liked this crew personally, but unfortunately the…read morejob they did was not up to par. First, I have moved many times and moving is hard. I moved into the place I was moved out of on this job one year before and had the movers pack up for me, disassemble and reassemble my furniture. For this job, the cost was twice the amount and took all day for a condo of furniture. I let it go because this was a new business and I chalked it up to being overly cautious, but after spending so much time packing, I did not have them reassemble furniture or move boxes to the right rooms and I've really just gotten to the bottom of the problem after a month of unpacking. First, this team was packing for me. All was moving at a nice clip until I left the condo with what I was told was about an hour to go. I waited at the new place and got cash ready. Turns out one problem is that they bubble wrapped everything in my home. Not just glass but plastic utensils individually bubble wrapped. For real. It took days to unwrap everything. They plastic wrap all furniture, which I actually thought was interesting and I liked the idea of preventing damage to sofas etc in the move. However, after unwrapping sofas, it was clear that the plastic wrap was sliced off with a knife and each sofa has a pillow with clear gouge marks from where the plastic wrap was cut. (I used scissors to cut through the plastic wrap while unpacking). They left some things in the condo and neglected to tell me. When I got there to clean I had to have my boyfriend come with his truck because there were furniture items as well as boxes. When we called the company, my boyfriend was angry and had words with the team so I had to apologize and explain the situation. But the response was disappointing because the owner basically told me that since I had paid with a check and he'd accepted it, I should be grateful for what service I got. Just to be clear, I paid with a check because moving the same furniture before cost $1500 less so I had not taken out the required cash. I sat around at the new house for 4 hours waiting for the crew after sitting with them for 2 hours in the condo before heading out. I kept calling to check in and they were saying they were still going. They explained to my boyfriend that it was the packing that cost so much. Just to note, it's really important to properly pack glasses and dishes. Every single dish of mine was individually bubble wrapped, which I consider a tad excessive. Bubble wrapped and taped closed. But the kicker was unwrapping the individually bubble wrapped forks, spoons, plastic serve ware, etc. It's no wonder it took so long for them to finish and they went through multiple rolls of bubble wrap and boxes adding to costs. Nice group of people. Hopefully these kinks get worked out. They're still learning.

I scheduled a move that was supposed to begin at 7:00 a.m., and the time was repeatedly delayed throughout the day (9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.), with little to no consistent communication. Meaningful communication did not begin until approximately 4:00 p.m., after the day was already lost. The agreed-upon terms were not honored. The job was supposed to include four workers, a 20-foot truck, and completion within 4-5 hours. These conditions were not met. At one point, they were unable to secure a truck at all, and I had to step in to try to resolve the situation myself. As a result of these failures, I experienced over $2,000 in financial loss and significant disruption over two days. Additionally, their handling of the truck situation caused a $1,608 issue to be connected to my U-Haul account. While I resolved the matter myself, it required immediate attention and time to correct a problem that should never have occurred. After the move, I was informed by the storage facility manager that an item fell during the move and a breaking sound was heard. This was never disclosed to me at any time. During our interaction, Adolphus Pinckney stated, "I wouldn't blame you if you don't pay us anything--I'm quite sure you're not going to pay us anything." Despite that statement acknowledging the situation, I still paid the full contract amount in good faith. There was no acknowledgment, no apology, and no effort made to provide compensation or resolve the situation. I made multiple attempts to address this directly before posting this review, but received no meaningful response. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.

They're incredibly quick with it, just make sure everything is packed and ready to go when they show up. Price point was great as well, particularly when everything is ready to go for them and they get it done in record time. Not planning on moving again any time soon, but nice to know when the time does come we won't have to ship around for movers again!

They called me when they were 45 minutes away and arrived promptly. When they arrived, they were organized, professional, and fast. With 3 guys, it took under 2 hours to unload a 15 foot U-Haul. My final total plus processing fee was actually lower than quote range they gave me. The best bit: my front door was sliiiiiiightly too small to fit my couch through. I was mentally over everything to do with moving at that point and was going to say we could put it back on the truck and donate it. But what did the Old City guys do? They tried to take it through the window, which was also slightly too small! They had to disassemble the window, bring my couch in, then put the window back together! I'm honestly still impressed at the dedication. Other stuff: They responded to my quote request through their website in less than 1.5 hours. I hired 2 movers and a 20-foot truck. Eugene and Serg were great. They clearly communicated their arrival time and kept me updated via text. There were 2 pick up locations - my storage unit and my parent's house. They had everything from storage wrapped and packed into the truck in 2 hours. Then we went to my parents for a few more things, we were out of there in under an hour. They drove to Jersey City and then had the entire truck unpacked and moved in and all the packing material cleaned up in 3 hours. It was an extremely hot day and the guys worked really hard and very quickly.
