Not worth driving out here (I hear the CP aquatic center off New Hope is better) but it is the best option for residents with children, especially babies.

When they do, they shoot the messenger and protect the guilty. There is one woman lap swimmer who nearly everybody is afraid of. She is as mean as a snake. She has been lying to people about me repeatedly. She called me an asshole to my face in front of others, for no reason. She has been pissed off because when people ask to share my lane, if they have plastic paddles I ask them not to use them because I have been hit hard by good swimmers and it hurts. You can look it up- injuries and pain from plastic paddle hits in lap pools is a known problem. Yesterday an obviously competitive swimmer asked to share my lane. At first I said ok but then I saw he had plastic paddles so I asked him not to use them and I told him why. I was polite and so was he. He went to another lane. Next I saw the woman talking with the lifeguard- this is what she does- she befriends the female lifeguards then manipulates them into coming after me. Next, a guy in the middle lane starts talking loudly for all to hear saying "everybody has to share". He too obviously was upset at me. I have never spoken to the guy. I think he may have also been manipulated by this terrible woman. I corrected him. I said that I have no problem sharing, but I have a problem with the plastic paddles because they hurt when people hit you with them. He accused me of poor arm control, which was a lie. When sharing I always stay far on my side, and I never swam with this guy. Then I see the lifeguard standing near me with the assistant pool manager, who until recently, I thought was a friend. They were whispering. I said "Hey, come here. I want to talk to you about what has been happening here. Only the assistant director came over. I told him exactly what had happened. He told me that I cannot ask people not to use plastic paddles. Today I got a call from the pool director. Before he could say anything, I said- I am going to tell you what really happened. I told him the true story. He said that was not what he was told by multiple people. Clearly, the others were lying- probably repeating the lies the old woman told them about me. Before that, I offered to never occupy an entire lane, to demonstrate that I have no problem sharing. And I said if anybody asked to share with plastic paddles I will give up my lane and share with somebody else. And I said if that is not good enough, you can give me my money back and I will never go to your evil pool again. So that is the situation. I have more horror stories about the Lakeway Swim Center lap pool but thats enough for now. The best example I can give of what Lakeway Swim Center management and staff, and some lap swimmers, did to me recently, is PUBLIC LYNCHING. Yes, you read that right. Huge water slide for bigger kids/adults and a smaller one for smaller kids. Outside volleyball, soccer, bmx trail, 2 separated playgrounds (one for bigger kids and one for smaller). They also used to have a rock climbing wall (unsure if it's still there). This makes for one of the best parks in Austin in my opinion.

The layout is split between a young children splash pad area and a full size pool that is split into multiple sections. I was incredibly impressed by everything they have to offer. The splash section has a slide and plenty of shade for the kids. The big pool has a walk in section that gradually gets deeper as you get in. To top it off, the have the diving boards to get out all your high flying energy. We will definitely be back all summer long.

The larger one has swimming lanes, 2 low dives, 1 high dive, water-basketball, wade out area, etc. The smaller one is PERFECT for kids. It's probably no more than 1.5-2 feet deep, but has sprayers/fountains everywhere, a jungle gym in the middle of the pool with a slide, whale statues to sit on, etc. I saw kids from 2-12 in there having a blast! Not a swimmer? Not a problem! There are shaded areas to sit at if you just want to watch the others swim. I saw plenty of people sitting back with a book or laying out to get a tan. The prices are only $3 for youth (under 18) and $5 for adults. You can bring your own food and bev and spend the day in the sun, but cooling off! My husband and I just moved into a house in the Anderson Mill Mud district and out of our awesome apartment. Living in a house is awesome, but man.... how I missed the pools at the apartment complex, especially with well over a month of 3-digit tempteratures. But with this pool and it's appeal for all ages, I'm not missing that apartment complex anymore! I will definitely become a regular!

There is no shade to speak of when in the water, so be sure to apply plenty of sunscreen. They have lockers to store valuables on site, but you need to bring your own lock. They also have dedicated dressing/shower areas and relatively clean toilets. If you don't use a locker, you have to place everything on the sides of the pool in the grass/dirt (be sure to bring a picnic blanket if you plan to hang out there at all). The grass/dirt area is nicely shaded. No beverages apart from water is allowed by the pool. Entry fees were $5/person for Austin residents. It was an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.

When you stand on the pool platform the vastness of the pool rushes to the forefront. Everytime I stick my foot in the water of the Deep Eddy pool, that cool refreshing feeling envelopes my body.
