The staff member on the phone told me to come in person since their system showed a room was open. However, when I arrived, I was told there were actually no rooms available, and it had been that way for some time. This was very disappointing and frustrating because it felt like a miscommunication between staff, and it ended up wasting time and effort driving there just to get a "no" in person. I truly wish the information had been accurate and consistent. The facility itself looked very nice, and I would have loved to book it, but they really need to organize their reservation process better. Hopefully they improve this so future guests don't face the same issue.

But with that, you loose space to lay out. And then there becomes no place to walk around. Not complaining. Thrilled we have the water level back to 100% Hippie Hollow is the only nude beach in Texas. So I'm told. Started many decades ago when the catch phrase "keep Austin weird" actually meant something. Weddings have actually been performed here. Maybe someday mine will too. Haha. I went all the way down to trail 6 to see if there would be an easy way down, and easy to get out of the water. Now that the water level is so high, it just becomes a cliff. Easy to get in, just jump. But climbing out, can get a little tricky. Picking a trail to go down can be tricky. Of course you want to give people their private space. You need a spot where you can lay out on a blanket. And getting out of the water easily where you don't have to be rescued. I needed rescuing last time, and luckily I was able to get in and out fine on my own. The second time a gentleman was walking past, and offered his hand to help me out. People are just so friendly here. I met two gentleman separate occasions. Very nice. Apparently they are regulars here. Water was choppy again. It's hard to just float and relax. You just have to keep treading water and keep your head up. Super freeing. Natural. Water is refreshing, the Texas sun is like no other. But the ants! Oh my word, they bit. Next time ant spray. The splash pad has a dedicated fenced in area for the water fun, and a nice grassy area with tables and seating. Perfect for a picnic! I love taking walks with my daughters along the lake, admiring the views and enjoying the wildlife. If you're adventurous you can rent a canoe or kayak from the boathouse and take it out onto the lake as well. This park is a beautiful place to spend time on a weekend!

The main trail is wide and paved, which is great for biking, running, or just walking the dog. The lake itself is super peaceful--I highly recommend renting a kayak or bringing a paddleboard out on a weekend morning. If you've got kids, the playground and splash pad are fantastic, especially when it's blazing hot outside. There are also plenty of shady spots and picnic tables by the water to just hang out and feed the ducks. Just a heads up, parking can be a nightmare on Saturdays when the weather is nice, so try to get here before 9 AM if you can. Otherwise, it's a super clean, well-maintained park that never really gets old. Definitely worth checking out.

I think it's important to download a map that outlines the whole trail. There are parts when you think it ends but it actually detours and continues. One of these parts is at Kenny Fort Blvd, the trail really goes an additional two miles east if you start at The Rabb House on AW Grimes. The doggo loves this trail and the shade it provides. There are some awesome benches to stop, rest and enjoy the sights and sounds of the creek. There are also plenty of poop bag stations and fountains along the way. I absolutely love these Round Rock trails and we visit often. Just be prepared for a crowd during the weekend.

This was after being lucky enough to set up an appointment after multiple unreturned voice mails and emails. I confirmed the appointment one day earlier over the phone, so there was no question about the time. One day later, there has been no response to any of the voicemails we left when were waiting for her. What is particularly disappointing is the advice we received from the entrance booth at the city park. I told them we were here for the jetskis. They said, "She isn't here yet. Sometimes she doesn't show up, so you probably want to park outside and walk for $1, rather than paying $10 to park next to the lake in case she doesn't show up." At least we got good customer service from someone that day!

Since I'm also afraid of heights, ropes courses are a good way to get a dose of this. The Georgetown Challenge Course is designed for team-building exercises, so you can't just go by yourself and have fun, unfortunately. But it's a great place to go for corporate, club or team events. I went in February with about 15 people from Hill Country Outdoors, an outdoors, sports and social club. We started the morning doing some silly but surprisingly fun games on the ground. Then, we got to the good stuff. There's a large number of activities that you can do here, from climbing up a pole to crossing high wires or logs... there's actually more than you can do in a day (you talk over the activities when you book, but can change them during the day). All are safe, as you are belayed, but also scary, since they're up high. I think I had fun, as I'd go back, but whenever I do these things I'm always asking myself why I thought it was a good idea, it's never fun until it's over. The downside to this place is that you are actively belayed, it's not like the Cypress Canopy challenge course where you're always hooked in and can do stuff yourself. That's also a plus if you're actually doing a team-building exercise, of course. None of the activities require you to be in super shape... if you can climb a ladder, you can do pretty much anything here. Though you may not really want to ;) If you're looking for something different to do, get a group together and try this place!
