That was the sweet potato and smoke turkey hash and he's still working on those pancakes

My boyfriend and I came here two days in a row for breakfast. Everything was DELICIOUS. Coming from the city, we enjoy and need some good food. Lydia's did not disappoint. Quiet and friendly atmosphere with a DIY coffee bar. Day 1 we both had eggs over easy with corned beef hash and we split the pancakes. Day two my boyfriend couldn't stop thinking about this pancakes so that's what he got. I went with the 2-2-2 w/ cinnamon French toast, eggs over medium, bacon and a side of the sweet potato and smoked turkey hash. That hash was absolutely amazing and I added the eggs yolk into it. I can't wait to try and duplicate that recipe as best as I can when I get home.

Lydia's amazes me yet again. It's a Monday, mid-afternoon, and my cupboards are bare. I think of where I've had reliably good food and Lydia's is the first spot that comes to mind. Looking at my copy of their lunch menu, I call to ask about the soup of the day, but then I see "Shrimp Poboy". Now you have to understand that I lived in Pensacola Florida for 29 years and had access to fresh seafood any day and any meal that I desired. Also I was a frequent visitor to New Orleans where poboys were born and bred. I wondered if I was up for possibly being terribly disappointed by ordering a Louisiana sandwich up here in the Hudson Valley, but I was hungry for shrimp. Shrimp Poboy, sweet potato fries and a Coke $12.10 -- so far, so good. Back at home I'm nibbling on some fries while opening up my foil-wrapped sandwich. It sure looks good, and shrimp are falling off -- a good sign that Lydia's doesn't skimp on their shrimp. Ok. Here goes. Biting into the Poboy brings me joy. I am impressed. The shrimp are fried just right, it's dressed with lettuce and tomato, and it has a nice spicy mayo that gives it a good 'ol New Orleans kick. I'm full halfway through, so I'm saving the rest for a snack when I get home from work later tonight, and there are enough fries leftover for two more meals. I was so excited about finding a shrimp Po boy up here that I forgot to take a picture before I ate half of it!

Great food, at amazing prices. Dinner was so good. I went in there thinking I would eat everything on my plate, because I was so hungry. I could barely get through half of my shrimp po boy sandwich.

We were visiting the area and after searching for restaurants that were open, and we ended up at Lydia's because it was open and nearby. I'm so happy this happened because we loved it! I had the beef soup and it was delicious. My wife had the burger and we shared chicken wings as an appetizer. I also had the chicken meal and it was some of the best fried chicken I've had - it was flavorful and very crispy. The place was cozy and the service was great - attentive, prompt and welcoming! Roni (the chef) was very nice and attentive to detail in her cooking. She spoke to us a bit about her process in smoking meats, making broths, and making her special crispy duck. We loved it so much we decided to come back the next night for their NYE dinner. They had live music and a delicious meal. I had the crispy duck and a delicious carrot cake for dessert. The place was full of what seemed to be family and friends, so it seems like it's a local favorite. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area. We'll come back here next time we're in the Catskills!

Great local breakfast place. Love the omelette. Fresh ingredients and quality eggs. Great service and attitude too.

Of course we cleaned up and walked over and were even more thrilled when we arrived to a completely empty dining room with the exception of our wonderful waiter and attentive host. It felt like the perfect, cozy intimate space to the end of an otherwise rainy, somewhat crazy but fun day. We shared a bottle of red on recommendation and had cocktails. The waiter was warm and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance is cozy and has an elevated feel. Service was exceptional and it was the perfect, memorable evening. Ended dinner with what I recall was a complimentary chocolate truffle. 10/10!

Service…read morewas indeed spotty on the Saturday night we came here and prices- well....they veer into sharp-intake-of-breath territory, but the cocktail and wine list are good in value. We'd just wrapped up seeing a property in the area- so coming here for dinner, fell just in line with timing before heading down home. Butterfield is Hasbrouck House's on-site farm-to-table restaurant located a bit north from New Paltz. While we didn't stay at the hotel, folks can certainly dine here. Don't even think that you'll be seated in an ultra-cheap bar area because their bar is put together elegantly with brushed, brassy-gold touches, navy, grey+cream patterned wallpaper and a comfortable tufted leather(?) sofa against the windows. Those are pretty much the overall touches with lots of tone and a lot of warmth. Music was a great mix of 60s-70s R&B. Yeah.... here. Hubs and I were digging it. Naturally, Butterfield's menu will change regularly according with what's in season and available. Between our 'Small Plates' of mixed Beet salad+ yogurt ($18) and hubs' crispy wonton Tuna Crudo+ yuzu tacos ($22)- they were very tasty and pricy for the small size. Mr. Mixologist packed our cocktails extremely well with an incredible TKO. Our main plates were very good- but again, small for the dollar amount. No one needs to gorge on food- but I wished my palm-size $44 Halibut was a bit bigger. To their defense, it had a tasty rub and done PERFECTLY moist though. Hubs' $54 "dry aged strip loin" was a total of 3 pieces. And my take-out Truffle Risotto had uncooked rice. Again, it's small and expensive at $38 for a main plate Hubs and I eat well and usually, money is no object- if it's within reason. I totally get that fine dining typically means splurging a little for high-quality items or that Butterfield is using 'complex cooking techniques' or that you'll get an original dining experience in these neck of the woods for those who want uniqueness. But there are a ton of restaurants that use the same skill set, quality organic ingredients, root veggies, etc- and they're way more reasonably priced than this location.

Our room 9 had the sweetest, all-around views from the multiple windows both in our corner room & in the bathroom of all the greenery, flowers & lawns. Although breakfast is no longer offered as part of the room rate, we were "grandfathered in" by the super amenable, welcoming head chef, who, in large part, is the engine behind the hotel's managing group, because our room had been booked when the breakfast plan was still in existence. Our breakfasts were presented beautifully & by servers who were super friendly & engaging, as is the rest of the staff here. The pool had not yet been filled for the summer, so we enjoyed sunning on the pool deck, the sweet sauna, walks to the lake down below the property, played shuffleboard, billiards in the way-downstairs which has stone walls, low ceilings, a wine closet, board games & game table, as well as darts. The first floor library is cozy, filled with couches, upholstered chairs, books, coloring books & colored pencils & the in-house restaurant offers 3 meals a day, either in the beautifully outfitted & sunny dining room or on the back patio, alongside a rain barrel, herb garden, smoke house, fire pit & the grassy lawns. The owners & the hotel's hospitality group are working on upgrading & updating the facilities & its offerings & we applaud them for their efforts & plans. We are glad that we could fully enjoy this welcoming, beautiful old stone home & its equally welcoming staff. AND, we thank the head chef for the bottle of Prosecco that he gifted us! P.S. I think I saw someone moving a rolling chicken coop from one part of the property to another!

Chef Mark's food deserves a full 5 stars, being delicious, fresh, creative, and well executed throughout our wedding weekend at the Elm Rock Inn. However, the administrative aspects were a 1-star at best. Throughout a 6 month planning phase we experienced a number of different changes in leadership of their catering administration, and were constantly experiencing communication lapses between the powers that be regarding the details of our wedding. We were consistently given information and pricing that someone else later deemed to be incorrect, thus causing serious chaos in our budgeting and planning. There seemed to be a serious disconnect between the GM, Catering Coordinator, and Service Coordinator in communicating any requests or inquiries we had up until the very end. Thus, everyone had more headaches than necessary because things needed to be double, triple, and sometimes quadruple-confirmed. The final invoice was still incorrect the week of the wedding and needed to be adjusted. Service the day of our wedding was warm and the staff did a solid job, although it lacked a certain proactivity that made it harder for us to just relax and enjoy the party. Again, I think this was a leadership issue. Candles weren't lit until AFTER all guests were seated. We physically had to move the cake ourselves into the center of the room for the Cake Cutting Ceremony. Then no staff took it away to be sliced and served until much later, causing it to be served awkwardly while people were already dancing. The slideshow video wasn't properly set up and there was a moment of difficulty when the groom had to fix it and make it work himself. Things like this the bride and groom shouldn't have to worry about on their big day were always needing attention. On a more positive note, our actual stay at the Elm Rock Inn was amazing. The rooms and decor were beautiful and well maintained throughout our stay. Halle the Innkeeper and his brother Joe made us feel so comfortable and well taken care of. Breakfast everyday was a full gourmet experience, and it's no secret that Chef Mark was behind the scenes for every meal! Having the Elm Rock be our wedding headquarters for the weekend was convenient, fun and cozy! In summary, Chef Mark's food is the highlight of this company and should definitely be considered as some of the best in the area. His farm-to-table approach and high level of execution equates to deliciousness on the plate! However, should you decide to work with Harvest Real Food Catering for an event, I would highly recommend a patient and overly communicative style in your preparations, and definitely hiring a wedding coordinator for the final month. They are a company that is still growing and ironing out their executional kinks, and hopefully with each event they do, they improve. We had our share of difficulties with them, but also some wonderful moments and amazing food!
