My family and I visit the Lyndon Diner about once a month or so and I keep forgetting that I don't want to come back. I have it in my head that I love diners. And I do love diners... in New Jersey. The Lyndon has serious issues that need to be addressed and even then I don't think we will return. On our visit there yesterday there were new menus. Probably like the 5th or 6th menu change I've seen in the few years I have lived in the area. If you read the menu carefully you'll note some things that don't make sense. Like in the "Favorites" section, the header says all items come with 2 sides, soup or salad, and a bread basket. Now, I have never seen a place that touts its bread basket as a special feature you only get with certain menu choices but okay, whatever. In that list there are multiple items that say, come with 1 side or comes with rice. If it doesn't fit the header of the section, list it somewhere else. (eye rolling) The specials menu had no details on it- like someone hastily put together a word document with some lame choices on it. There really aren't that many choices and the text is very difficult to read. Prices are inconsistent as well. So we were there on Labor Day and the place was dead. We stood at the front of the restaurant for several minutes with 2 other couples, waiting to be seated, while the young man at the register dealt with an angry old man who was short changed or something. We were seated and our server was wonderful and attentive. Our server was the high point of the experience. I ordered the Baked Stuffed Chicken Breast. My sons had Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and their "Super Cheese" Burger. My husband ordered a Broiled Seafood Platter from the Specials Menu. My sons' meals were good. I think that the serving of fries is insufficient for the price of the meal and they're served in this stupid cup thing lined with a sandwich wrapper. The fries were limp and pale. My stuffed chicken was still frozen in the middle. FROZEN. It was also doused with a chicken gravy with lumps from the thickening agent in it that made it very unappealing to look at. I asked our server if they could microwave it so that it would be at least room temperature. My husband enjoyed his seafood, mostly. He eats things in order of appeal, saving his favorite thing for last. So he ate the haddock. He ate the shrimp. He ate two of the scallops and then said, "Hey, can you smell this?" Yeah, it smelled strongly of ammonia. Not a good sign. We let the waitress know. When we received the check I asked to speak to the manager. When he finally came to the podium he seemed aware of both situations with our food. He comped the baked chicken, which I didn't eat even after it was nuked because the inside was still cold. He also deducted $5 from the check for the rotting seafood. I think I'll save diners for my trips to New Jersey. We definitely won't be back to the Lyndon. A stupid aside: they had decorated the dining room with red, white, and blue stars and had a sign that said "Thank you for your service." Someone should educate them that Labor Day has nothing to do with the military. read more

I've been going here ever since I was a little kid. This place is great. The food, especially the breakfast, is outstanding. The staff is also very sweet and kind. Super disappointed in the food. Love the Lyndon in Lancaster for their all day breakfast. Recently moved to York and tried this location tonight. I've ordered the mushroom omelette in Lancaster and it always came with cheese - no cheese in York (possibly my fault for not saying a specific cheese?), husband ordered the pancakes and they had zero flavor (a dash of vanilla would help), and hash browns were blah. I used to frequent this location weekly for breakfast at midnight and it was amazing; will give it another go down the line or stick with one of the diners on the east side. read more

TIME !! We went for breakfast on Saturday, March 26,2022. When we placed our order, we had to wait 45 minutes before we got our food, eggs, 45 minutes for eggs? Three tables were sat after we placed our order, they all got their orders, ate and left before we got our food. When we did finally get our food, it was cold. I did get country fried chicken, gravy on the side. The gravy covered my chicken, which was wrong. I paid $2.39 for coffee and only got one cup, even when I kept asking for more. I said something about our food being cold and taking so long and they said oh well, we are not going to do anything about it, have a good day. read more

As my friend and I were perusing the menu trying to decide, one of the diners behind us asked if alcohol was being served. This was around 9am, but the answer was yes. He then asked for a shot of Yukon Jack. From there it just got better. I ordered the Number 6 Breakfast Special. When it comes to breakfast I want to try everything. So I usually try to find the one meal or combo that gets me as much as I can get. My choice included eggs, home fries, toast, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Oh, and coffee and juice. I couldn't believe all this was included for the price (I can't remember exactly, but I want to say around $7). It took me awhile to finish, but when I did I felt a great sense of accomplishment. Until we went to leave and I saw all the amazing looking desserts. Service was okay. I had to ask for a few things (refill of my water, more creamers for our coffee) that I didn't feel I should have had to ask for but our waitress obliged. Love the Lyndon Diner--my favorite eatery in York! It just seems to be the place to go to after a show or a late night out. They are especially good about accommodating large and rowdy groups! The Lyndon Breakfast Special is a staple in my diner diet (especially the sausage!) and includes all the best breakfast items (as opposed to having to choose between them like at so many other breakfast places). I've tried various other items off their menu, including lunch and dinner items, and they are all mostly good. I'm not going to say I've always had the best experience there, the food is sometimes blah and the service is not always the best, but the atmosphere (including the cool look of the place) overcomes all that. And more often than not, it's a hit rather than miss. Your other option in the area is Denny's--good luck with that. read more

Solid food but nothing remarkable. My parents love nearby Weiner World but I wanted to try a place with a less unfortunate name. I consulted Yelp and Lyndon diner seemed to have a good reputation. Dad said:"The portions are ridiculous" as in way too big and he was sorta right. Coffee was fresh. Waitress did decent but not stellar. Had to ask for coffee refills. Food was just ok. I hate to say it because I was hoping to shake my family free of Weiner World....but Weiner World food is just as good and half the cost. I think given the choice between the two I would still go with Weiner World. Also I ordered a bagel and realized just now that I never got the bagel but I paid an extra dollar for it. I don't think that oversight would happen at Weiner World but I shall continue to explore alternative breakfast haunts in the big metropolis of York PA. While breakfast was good, the chocolate eclairs I got to go were awful. That's the only time in my whole life I have thrown away a chocolate pastry but it tasted like wax instead of chocolate. I gave one star because I couldn' t give a zero. Once seated, if you look around you begin to notice the floors are filthy with chunks of food all over the place. Employees are standing around and No One bothers to sweep. The tables are generally clean but if you like your feet crushing french fries as you eat then this is the place for you. I decided to leave and mentioned these issues to the young lady at the front desk. Not only was a nasty cuss but she couldn't have cared less. I asked for the manager, and get this, he was on the phone and too busy to address customers. Maybe he will be too busy as his business goes down the drain. Secondly, after the shock of the filth we received our food. It, too, was as disgusting as the floors. (That was the cue to leave). Do they actually get away with serving frozen food that has been microwaved. Do the customers not know the difference. It must be a PA thing. Not bad, not great. Typical diner...except they serve alcohol. There was a group of 12 or so in our party. We ordered a variety of items...breakfast, entree, burger, salad. Everyone seemed happy with their meals. I had the chef salad. It was huge and had a lot of meat. However, it wasn't chopped up meat, it was rolled up meat and cheese together and put on top of the salad. It was fresh and I had no complaints. Service was also good. But it's still a diner. And if I'm in the area I might stop by, but as I don't live particularly close, I'm not going to make a special trip. read more

But after we got our food the hostess seats four people RIGHT behind us (no partition) when ALL other seats in our section are open. The food was fine. Typical diner fare. Unfortunately we were seated right next to the wait-station an we were regaled all meal long by the waitresses complaining about their tips. They where mainly complaining about how many credit card tips they were getting as opposed to cash tips because they have to report credit card tips. It was tacky and not something that should be discussed in earshot of customers. To top it off, when I paid for the meal at the front register (with a credit card tip) the cashier turned around to our waitress and with me standing right there said 'Oh, you just took the lead tonight with that tip'. Since we moved here three years ago, I have really wanted to love Lyndon diner. While househunting we came across the restaurant and had a wonderful meal, but since then, especially since Covid, the quality has deteriorated significantly. Last night my husband and I went in there and had soup and I had a turkey bacon club. It tasted amazing and I was really happy with it, although the crab vegetable soup was almost too salty to eat, the sandwich was yummy. Last night I had some really odd heart palpitations, which I've never experienced before, and I thought nothing of it really. Today I was excited to take the other half of my club to work with me for lunch, and was horrified to find that it is covered in black mold!!! Mind you, I've already eaten half of it. I am disgusted! You cannot tell me this was unprovable to the maker of the sandwich. This is the last time I will be a Lyndon Diner customer. To Mgmt of the diner, you have a great location and an opportunity to have a booming business, but you have to do better! Higher prices and poor quality food are not the answer! read more

The parking lot is always busy every time we are in town, so we take a chance and stop at the Lyndon Diner. Why have we passed over this place before. The mixed reviews here are an indicator of inconsistent food and service. Surprisingly, our experience at the Lyndon was very good, bordering on excellent. Our Senior menu selections of the Meat Loaf platter, Eggplant Parmesan and Fish dinner were excellent for flavor and value. The portions were generous and the sides were homemade from scratch, a real bonus in this era of manufactured food. The Lyndon Diner was a real treat for us. I'm from New Jersey so there is nothing like getting some good diner food. I stopped at this place right after going to a Jeep show at the York Fairgrounds. It's a clean diner and looks like it was renovated not to long ago which was nice. I can also say that the bathroom was in good condition as well. Regarding the food I got the buffalo chicken wrap with a side of cole slaw. The wrap was packed to the exploding point and it was grilled chicken drenched in buffalo hot sauce. It was really good and refreshing. The cole slaw was finely chopped style and was not too heavy on the mayonnaise which is good because I really dislike when places go overboard with the mayo. To back up the great diner food the service was just as good. Our waitress had a southern style to her and was genuinely nice and attentive. Before we got to low on the drinks there was another on our table. This place has a few chain restaurants around it and is still doing well as it was packed, that should be sign enough if you like diner food you'll like this place for sure. read more

Lyndon's is great. I guess I'd call it an upscale greasy spoon. They have all the normal diner favorites complete with breakfast all day. Unlike other diner options they also have a well stocked bar and usually have a couple of higher end items on the menu. I once had a steak Diane there that was amazing. Definitely better than several of the nearby steakhouses. The staff have always been top notch and the atmosphere inside is pleasant. The only complaint I can lodge is the parking situation. When the place is busy, it's a nightmare. There always a half dozen idiots or more who choose to park in non spots rather than spill into the adjacent lot. I've seen several fender benders so if the lot looks full, proceed with caution. It's a great place to get a quick and satisfying bite and a step up from other diner options not only in the area but in general. read more
