My boyfriend and I stopped in here to grab gifts for some family. The staff is super helpful and knowledgable. We decided to do a wine tasting as well. We do not know much about wine but I never felt judged - the staff just gave great suggestions! We had a vague idea about what type of wine the family liked and ended up grabbing a gift card for a tasting and a nice bottle - the perfect gift! This place is cute with a large tasting counter and plenty of other wine-related gifts. I love the variety they had available for tasting, plenty of reds and whites but also some specialty wines for the holidays as well as fruitier options. This place is perfect for date night or just trying out new wines with friends. They have a location in Roselle as well. I've usually had good experiences here but last weekend we left unhappy. My husband wanted to come here for his birthday for a tasting. Upon entering, it wasn't too busy which was good however the person who served us was not very friendly and basically seemed to rush us to order something, didn't give us any time to look at the menus, and told us to 'just tell her what we want'. Well we need to look first! Most disappointing was that we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the weather and we noticed that someone thought it would make sense to put an open can of coke at each corner of the patio to keep the bees away but it just attracted them everywhere so we were forced to sit inside on a beautiful fall day. We noticed a few other parties try to sit outside too but came back in due to the bees. The person who served us asked us if we came inside because of the bees and told us that they put the cans out there to keep them away, to which we replied we thought it was doing the opposite and attracting them to that area. The cans were left out however and not taken away. We were so disappointed in our time at Lynfred for what was supposed to be a special day :( read more

We are members of this location even though it is the furthest from us in Normal. The reason for that and the five star is the staff everyone working there from the manager down welcomes us like they have known us forever. I would rate the wines good to really good work fruit wines and dessert wines being the best. The wine club member is a great deal that offers a lot of perks. I thought about taking a star off for the lack of bottle services but that is made up for now with the member's loft. I highly recommend this location for its need venue (old house) with outside seating and great employees. read more

Did the guided tasting and it was not guided very much at all. Same glasses were used for 6 different pours. Host did not talk about the grapes or wine much, mostly told stories about people- same story I read online before I came about Lynn & Fred. The snacks were good. We were so impressed with Amber and Becky. They go above and beyond with their customer service and are super sweet. Due to COVID, our delicious blueberry wine was served in souvenir plastic wine cups, which we will definitely be repurposing poolside :) We sat outside at one of the picnic table on a beautiful day and it had a nice ambiance. We both got the blueberry wine and enjoyed it very much. When we went to tip, we were told that they are a "non-tipping" restaurant and all tips go to charity. Thoroughly impressed. This is a really cute place to come for some wine tasting. They had a few different options to choose from, so everyone could pick something that they liked or wanted to try. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, which helped the overall experience. There's a cute little shop inside where you can buy fun stuff and wine accessories. They also sell their own wine, which is nice. The only negative, is that there isn't much room to sit. They have some tables out front, which is where we sat - but it's quite noisy from all of the cars on the main road. I had been to the location in Roselle once and the customer service there was terrible. I would definitely recommend that you check out this location out and skip out on Roselle. It's almost like a cute little getaway in the middle of the burbs :) read more

Living in the Midwest and having an appreciation of both domestic, south american, and italian wine, a good local wine AND winery are hard to find. This is definitely a hidden gem that exceeds expectations. Of all the locations, the Wheeling location is the one to frequent. Though it's one of its smaller locations, it's a cozy, down-to-earth tasting space where the staff (especially Matt) not only have an extensive knowledge of viticulture, but are super friendly. Their wine club more than makes up for itself with the discounts you get on the wine and tastings, compared to many in the Chicago area. Since it gets its grapes from all across the country, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the variety of reds and whites AND dessert wines they make! If you are interested in wine making, the Roselle location provides a nice tour of their winery led by a very passionate and knowledgeable staff. read more

This is a sweet little gem of a spot. I had been to a winery in Long Grove, and it had a very standoffish feel. Matt and Deb are always very sweet, and do not mind if we bring our shelter dog to sit out on the patio after our Sunday afternoon walk. I will say he gets lots of nice attention from the fellow patrons! The wines are great, they have just about every type of grape you can imagine, and have suggested things for me to try since I am allergic to Merlot, yet I like the taste. I have come to have some new favorites, the wine club membership is a great bargain if you love to try new things! The atmosphere is always welcoming, everyone is super nice and the gifts are unique. We have not been there much in winter because we always bring our dog, and it is too cold to sit outside, but we will always come back! read more

For 12 dollars I sampled 8 wines, the portions were slighly large but to my liking! They have about 9 wines to choose from and it changes monthly. My husband and I sat outside whilethe wine guy brought us our wines and left us alone it was really nice we left with a buzz! I slightly expected them to have like cheese or artisan breads...they did but not paired you could buy a container of cheese if you wanted. All in all it was a nice place. read more

It's simple; I love Lynfred Winery. Lynfred Winery is not only a great deal, it's a great experience. The place is charming with details like a hand-carved wine bar and wine/grape themed decor topping row after row of bottles. The staff and management of this location are exactly the way you want : they greet you with a smile, converse if you hint at it or leave you to taste in blissful silence if that's your thing. Then there's the wine ... Flights abound and tastings galore! Every month there is a new tasting of eight to 10 wines. This is a neat way to taste a variety of grapes that you didn't even know existed (hellloooo Norton!). If you don't like a wine after a sip, hand it back and have it replaced with something else from the tasting. Bread to cleanse the palate is provided and cheeses/fruit/sausage snacks are available for purchase. I became a member of their Red Wine Club and my husband joined the White Wine Club. If you drink only one bottle of wine a month, this free membership pays for itself. If you drink a glass with dinner each night, you'll be kicking yourself that you didn't join earlier. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and a wide variety of delicious wines make Lynfred Winery a must-go for any self-proclaimed wino (oenophile, wine lover, connoisseur, etc.). read more

They offer a 25% active duty discount on bottles, and members' pricing for flights. We both had seven tastes. I tried four fruit wines and three reds (plus a sip of my husband's two whites and another red). I love fruit wines, these were exceptionally sweet, especially the mango. Bonus points, as I adore sweets. Reds were decent, we bought a bottle of Dolcetto. We both agree it was the best of all the reds we tried. read more

We live 2,000 miles away and had a membership to the winery. Whenever in Chicago we would make the commute and make a day out of it and visit the antique shops. The wine is good and the prices are affordable. We ultimately cancelled our membership after many visits of poor customer service. We were rarely offered tastings and never told of new wines. There were many times when I actually felt like I was bothering them when picking up my wine. We would of more than likely purchased many more bottles but hate to give my money to a business that doesn't value it's customers. We will be taking our money to other wineries in Indiana. read more

This place is amazing. The wine is incredible, I am a wine club member. I have yet to have anything I do not like. The staff knows you by name. They are also extremely knowledgeable on all the wines they make. You can have a nice afternoon or even doing some samples, and have cheese, and bread with it. One of my favorite places in the Chicagoland area for a few reasons. 1) The wine, obviously. The winemakers (from Chile) aren't just making a commoditized bulk wine, each wine is an art. An experience. The different notes and how the wines open up are part of what makes Lynfred wines first class. 2) It's educational. They don't just stick to Merlots and Chardonnays... there are so many varietals and I've learned a ton about the different grapes, how the wines are made, etc. Lynfred expanded my wine horizons! 3) The staff. At Wheeling, they know their members and treat us very well. My friends and I actually call it our "Cheers" because we're there so often and the staff know us by name. I am posting this as a ex member. Last weekend stopped for lunch accross the street and had a few drinks at the bar. Might I mention is actual glassware that went with the drink. Afterwards we went accross the street to do a tasting with the idea we would pick up a couple bottle of wine for during the week. We were seated outside and waitress came by and asked if we wanted any cheese to go along with our tasting. We acknowledged that we did. The wine came first and it was in very very tiny plastic containers exactly what you would make jello shots with. Along with that came a plastic stemless wine glass. Amount of wine was less than what you use when you use mouth wash. The cheese came and it was a shrink wrapped item on cardboard. Waitress was nice enough to make tell us you have to grab cheese or it sticks to the shrink wrap and falls to the ground!!!! This was a complete joke and completely tacky!!!! If you honestly are that afraid do like Cooper's and only serve glasses (actual glasses) or stay closed. After this experience I wont ever step foot into this place. Complete rip off with a totally cheesy set up. Goodbye!!! read more

I was so excited that the Lynfred Winery in Roselle finally created a tasting room a little closer North! Wine from Illinois? Who would've thought, right? The wine is AWESOME! They make so many different varietals and they always have a few reds, whites, fruit wines, and a "premium" open to taste. One bummer is that you can't try anything you want, but they change what they have open each month. I also love places that give me options- flights, tastings, glasses, bottle service. Love it. Most weekends and some weekdays, they also have little cheese plates for only $5. Cheese & wine = all I need in life. It's also nice that I can go in there, not looking to spend too much money, and the staff can help me pick out the perfect bottle for almost any occasion. I bring their Rose' almost everywhere- it's a crowd pleaser and only $12! It's one of my favorite places to come to after a long day or to have fun with friends- or just chat with the staff- they really know their wine. read more

I am here at Lynfred now and have never been so disappointed. The staff seems frazzled. Because there was no room to do a tasting I decided to pay $15 for a glass of Reserve Cabernet. It was disgusting. So I went back and asked to try the Zinfandel Cabernet which was $7 more (yes $22 for a glass of wine made in Illinois) and I was scolded that they will not give another glass of wine and I should have asked for a tasting. So it is my fault that the wine was terrible? I have come here for 20 years and not coming back anytime soon. I neglected mention that I offered the $7 difference. read more

My friends and I have been coming here for almost two years, almost every month. The monthly tastings (they change every month) are always refreshing and delicious. The location is adorable and it's an excellent place to spent a Saturday or a weekday evening. The staff is more than pleasant, and so nice to chat with while you are there. They are very knowledgable about their wine and what to pair it with. You have the opportunity to purchase wine, and gift like items, as well as join their monthly club. They have a red, white, and fruit club - which also has the benefit of discounts for purchases and tastings. When tasting, you can get bread to help cleanse your palette between wine tastings, and can also purchase cheese and honey (so delicious!!) We were informed that you can rent out the upper level of the location for parties which is something my friends and I would be interested in for the future (bridal and baby showers). There is also outside seating which is beautifully decorated and comfy. Overall this place deserves six stars. They never ever disappoint, and I'm still always looking forward to going! read more

The Sommelier was so friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the place and all the wines and also very patient with our seniors. This is a hidden gem! We had a tasting party upstairs and had a great time tasting some pretty good wines. The service was knowledgeable and attentive. The wine was good.
