In April 2026, I went to Lyngso Garden Materials in San Carlos to get some medium size boulders for my front yard garden. Yez, at Lyngso was super helpful. I needed some sun kissed boulders with more angles and some interesting aquamarine coloring. Yez had one of the workers bring down a container full of such boulders from the back top row and personally helped me pick out what I wanted, going as far as removing the top layers of boulders one by one by hand in order to get to the described boulders beneath the top layers. And these boulders were heavy! Yez said Lyngso always strive to provide great service to all their customers. And Yez definitely did. my girlfriend and I went to get some rocks for a small project I had. I was astonished that none of the men who were walking around would help us put them in the bags. They were very heavy so we were only able to fill them about 1/3 full. When we got home, we realized we didn't have nearly enough rocks and have to do another trip. They said I would've had to make an appointment to get somebody to put my rocks in a bag. Ridiculous. I was disappointed. read more

Lyngso is one of the "go to" places for landscaping materials like bricks, blocks, rocks, etc. I like it, but would rate it at 4.5 compared to Stone Granite n Santa Cruz, CA. Stone Granite has better prices than Lyngso does on bulk rock (e.g. cobbles, Mexican pebbles) and boulders/large rocks. The shipping chargers are also pretty great. I placed an order of over $500 to complete 3 raised garden beds each holding 18 cubic feet of soil = 54 cubic feet or 3 cubic yards. Unfortunately, I received only 45 cubic feet. Errors are understandable as they measure volume by what a front loader can pick up. That may work when using soils to cover a yard but not when filling a container of known volume. Pointing out that my order was short, one of the beds is only half full, I was told that I was wrong and their measurement was right. Not a good way to run a business. read more

Lyngso was fantastic. The salesperson, Paloma, was extremely helpful figuring out with me how much soil I would need for my job and what type I needed and he set up my delivery. They reminded me of my delivery the day before and kept me informed when it left their location. Lyngso was an essential element when we landscaped our house a while back. Their extensive selection of hardscape, rocks of all sizes and quantities made life easy. However, we have not checked out their new location since they moved from Redwood City. With a new project to build a circular rock planter (6 foot diameter) for our burgeoning succulent collection we paid them a visit. One of the huge benefits is that you can wander the yard and look at the inventory to your hearts content. When buying by the ton you want o get it right the first time so we typically make multiple trips to see the stone, get ideas, come home and see if they work. Customer service is excellent and unobtrusive. Its there if you need it but otherwise they leave you alone to check things out which is perfect. For those not looking for multi ton palates they also have self serve bins for smaller quantities. read more

James the operations manager at Lyngso called me to discuss the poor delivery experience I had with them last week. I explained that sometimes things don't go according to plan and that's ok. It's the communication (or lack of) to the customer that matters most. I appreciate them taking this incident seriously and following up to make it right. That's rare nowadays and most vendors would have just ignored it and moved on. We just returned home from the center and were blown away by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff here. Specifically, Kenn (she/her) and Victor went out their way to help us find a specific stone/pedestal matching our garden sculpture. They were patient and kind and we cant wait to be back. Btw, the center has a huge variety of pebbles, stone, fountains, stone benches and bark (mini, natural, brown, black, etc etc) -- all sold at very reasonable prices. Nice place. Chock full of cool landscaping options and solutions. Nice. Clean. Fealt safe even though there was some large earth moving equipment being used. I felt it was being used in a safe and sane manner. Staff were all courteous and all answered and inquiry myself and my very curious wife had about supply. Order process. Calculating a budget ? How do we calculate what's needed ? Lots of questions and we were provided with all credible and understandable answers. As a person with zero gardening experience, I called Lyngso in hopes to order some soil, but the gentleman on the phone wasnt that responsive after I asked him some questions. I asked him if its better that I go to the store in person or send an email to set up the order, he said that would be better. So I emailed Lyngso about my interest with questions, and I received an immediate response from Carmen who provided some helpful information. I had emailed some more questions and Madeline took over the email communications and provided me with very detailed information that was very beneficial for my gardening education and for making purchase decisions. I live a few blocks from Mountain View Garden Center, but their service is so notoriously surly that I drove all the way to Lyngso. Wow, I'm glad I did. What a difference! The spacious lobby has a nice collection of books and samples. A guy at the service desk patiently answered my questions and suggested a good strategy for pursuing my project. Out on the lot, there were a bunch of huge machines moving around, which could be intimidating, except that a couple times drivers paused to ask if I needed help. The rock they had on display was interesting and beautiful. I did a couple loops through the yard just to look at all the cool stuff I totally don't need. I was a little nervous picking up a small amount of rock in my little car, with all the big contractor trucks and loaders roaring around. But people were super-helpful at every step and got me all set up in no time. A classy business! read more

Shoveling your own dirt, mulch, what be it. I'm helping my sister plant a garden, so we filled seven bags of potting soil and garden compost. Each bag fills about one of those five gallon pots...so, five gallons I'm guessing. Came out to about $4 a bag, including the tough paper bag. We could buy dirt at the usual places, but this is so.much.more.fun. read more

One of the best features of Lyngso were their rental dump trucks. I could get a few yards of mulch or soil and rent their truck for $25 and deliver it to my house. After the pandemic, they never brought back the rental trucks. Having them deliver a few yards of material for $100 or more is not economical. read more

This survey was for damage that was caused to my new vehicle from debris that fell off of one of their trucks. Knowingly their trucks deal with multiple types of materials that generate these kinds of debris the gentleman I spoke with was still not forth coming to want to rectify the damage that was caused ultimately resulting in this survey. My advise is to stay away from driving behind one of their trucks and if you have to have your video camera ready to record just in case any damages that may occur. read more

Without an appointment, they had me in and out in 15 minutes or so including weighing of my new out of state purchased vehicle and all paperwork. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I doubt I'll purchase another new vehicle from an out of state dealer any time soon but if I do, I'll be back to get my weight certificate. read more

Went there and bought two bag of black polished rock, brought them home and noticed about %90 was gray, took them back to the longso and they refused to take them back, my husband refused to accept and asked for manager, manager came first he refused to take them back and threaten to call the police on my husband, than he agreed to take them back mines %25 and called my husband an asshole because of my husband refusing to leave, finally In the end he gave my husband an IOU and told him that he will get his money in three weeks, needless to say we will never go back there again. I have been looking for some stone ground cover for months at the usual stores but the selection was very limited. My general contractor suggested that I checked out Lyngso and I was so glad I did! They have wide range of products and the sales associate was so helpful and explained the pros and cons of different materials (pebbles, granite, stone), and all the layers of materials I need for the construction. Ten gallons of Olympic sand cost $5.72. We brought our own buckets ($2.79 each at Home Depot) and drove to the u-sack section, used the provided shovel to fill the buckets, then drove by the front office window and paid. It's about half the price compared to bagged sand in other stores. They also have concrete sand, mulch, compost, all listed on their website. Very friendly service too. read more

Wow.......Paid $30 to attend a DIY class in how to build a dry stack garden bed and drove from San Francisco to take it. This class was a complete waste of time and money!! In the first hour you are in the classroom listening to a lot of non related stories and jokes and the second you are in the warehouse watching the stacking or flat or square stones. The instructor was extremely nice, but provided very little usable information. We ended up leaving after 1.5 hours. The customer service on the way out was non existent.
