Lyon's has been in this location in St. Charles since I was a lil kid. My Grandma used to take me to the library then Lyon's :) (library is next door). So anytime I am in the area and they are open - I stop in. My go-to is a strawberry custard, but everything here is good. They have sundaes, concretes, etc. Lots of variety! They are seasonal and recently opened back up for summer. They have walk up service with a nice pavilion in the front if you want to sit and enjoy or drive thru service if you are on the go. If you're looking for a higher calorie treat, they have the usual custard additives plus some novel options you may not have seen anywhere else. Came here for a turtle sundae and boy was it good. Lyons Custard has so many options, but I went for the turtle which is a family favorite. And it didn't disappoint. Glad I only got the medium. Got the kids smalls and they could barely eat half of them. There was a lack of consistency, however, as they put salted pecans on their small sundaes but not on my medium sundae. Strange! Lyons has been a St. Charles fixture for decades. The young people who work here are always upbeat and happy to serve the people of St. Charles. The concretes are awesome, but my favorite Lyons treat is the slushie, which is available in about 20 flavors. I guess they didn't flush the container out with water thoroughly enough. Decided to make this 3 instead of 2 stars b/c I tried Sean's Oreo concrete and it was decent. Still...meh. ok, so I was just in the STL area on business and just happened to run across this place and...well, to put it simply, it was GLORIOUS! So there is not really any new idea at this place, they are just very good at what they do. I got a "concrete" which is essentially a Blizzard, but there is a huge list of mix-ins to chose from (I got cookie dough and rice krispie treats) and you even have the luxury of selecting the delicious vanilla sugar-free fro yo as your ice cream for it. I couldn't have asked for much more. I can't speak for the entire menu, but this is one place you have got to check out if for no other reason then to grab a concrete. read more

Came here on a slow Tuesday evening in August with my brother and sister-in-law. Only ones here. The custard is ok, not great. It also isn't very cold and is practically melted having just ate half of a small concrete. (And it was only 75 degrees out) The girls making it seemed more concerned with giggling and making jokes than getting my order right. One concrete was supposed to be marshmallow, graham cracker, and chocolate chips, yet ended up with peanut butter cups. Good thing I didn't have my son with me who is allergic peanuts. I have been here twice. The concretes are fantastic! I found them to be much creamier than Ted Drewes or Fritzs. This is a St Charles gem, tucked away right next to the library. If I have any complaint it is that they need to improve on advertising. I have lived in St Charles County for quite some time, and I have been to the library multiple times. The custard is excellent, but the service is horrible! My husband and I love going there to get concretes because they taste amazing, but we rarely get what we actually order. And the prices are too high to never get what you order. Example - tonight I got my husband a heavenly hash concrete and when I got home and he tried it, it was literally just vanilla custard with hot fudge blended in it. Very disappointing.
