I feel cheated and not like a valued customer. I have been coming to this salon for a few months. I would go to Betty for blowouts and haircuts. I always felt like the salon was clean and accommodating. In addition, staff was always welcoming. I decided to take a jump to have the top of my head colored. I had bayalage about 7 months ago at a posh salon in Soho. As opposed to going back, and breaking the bank, I decided to come here. I still had the baylage from almost the middle of my head-down. The week prior, I had a haircut and blowout ($45). I had asked Betty how much it would be to do color so it would blend into the color that I had now. Management estimated ($89). The following week: I had my color done, and the color came out to $140+tax+gratuity. It was not priced as quoted. I was told later that the blowout was a separate fee. I strongly feel that a blowout should be included with this service. If a blowout is included in a haircut, it should be included with color. I left happy because my hair was blown out into curls. I could not really tell how the color was correctedI called one hour after leaving salon telling them I was unhappy. Bottom line, I wanted a refund for $89 and not the entire cost of the service. I felt this was fair after being a valued customer. After really feeling uncomfortable, and several calls, I was offered a gift card. I just wanted partial refund because unneeded to spend the means to go somewhere else. Not only did this salon make a loyal customer unhappy, they won't have my business ever again. If you want your hair done naturally, I suggest going somewhere else. What was really sad was that they never called me back after they said that they would. Go somewhere professional. I already had a canvas that was done by someone professional, and they tried to charge me for a balayage that was NOT one. DEFINITION: Balayage: a technique for highlighting the hair in which the dye is painted on in such a way as to create a graduated, natural looking effect. Thank you, but no thanks. read more

They chopped all my hair off! What does 'trim' mean to you? I expressed to the stylist that I am desperately trying to grow my hair 'long'. 4 months during this pandemic and my previous short hairstyle finally grew out to a medium do. Not anymore. Stylist ignored my request of 'just a trim' and cut all my hair short again. Sides and top are especially too short! I explained I need to be able to put my naturally curly hair in a pony tail during the summer months. This is no longer possible! Why does this place rush customers to the shampoo chair instead of talking first about what the customer wants. Maybe examine the customer's style BEFORE you wash it. I will never go back. This is not a salon, it's a more of a barber shop. read more

I have been going to LZ salon for about 5 years now and i always walk out with a smile on my face. If you are looking for a place to get a blowout, color done, haircut eyebrows etc. this is your place. Zahava is THE BEST! Some hairdressers just do the hair for the money and don't care if they will ruin your hair. Not here though they care about the color you do and educate you on what is good for your hair and what is bad. Their prices are very reasonable and well worth it. This place is fantastic! The whole area is very spacious, recently renovated, and immaculately clean. I haven't come across such high standard of hygiene anywhere in Queens before. Modern equipment and furniture perfectly complete the place. There are separate rooms for hair works, mani, pedi, facials, relaxation and massage, waxing, and even drinking a complementary glass of wine or cup of coffee. However, all of the above would never be so great, if the owners, Zahava and Lana, didn't create personally the atmosphere of friendliness and comfort. They are both experienced and knowledgeable professionals who make you feel fabulous. I've only seen that level of service in Manhattan. I needed to get my hair done for a wedding but the hair salon opens at 9am and I needed an earlier appointment. They were nice enough to open a half hour earlier for me. The hair style i chose was very simple, a braided crown with curls. I wish I had asked who did my hair, I think it was Zahava, but she did a wonderful job. I was in and out in 30 minutes with beautiful hair that held up until the wedding was over at midnight!!! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!!! read more

My girlfriend and I went to get hair cuts here this afternoon, plus I got my eyebrows threaded. They have only been open about three weeks, and the place is very clean and professional looking. We didn't have appointment, but Zahava and Lana took us immediately. Lana was very gentle with my eyebrows, and they came out looking great. Zahava cut my hair and I am very happy with it. My friend had her hair cut by Lana, and she also did a great job. I'll be going here for my hair and eyebrows from now on. read more

LZ Salon is a great find right in Forest Hills I had been looking for a new hair stylist and I found this salon on Yelp. I must say Zahava is great I love my haircut lord knows I have had quite a few terrible haircuts in the past 2 years and 3 hair stylist later. Horray she listen to what I wanted and worked with the little bit of hair I had left ( I have short hair) she advised me to let it grow a little bit & then It can be styled better. She was so right my second cut was even better. I even sent my sister to Zahava she was visiting from California and was in need of a cut and color. Zahava did a great job!!! With the humid weather, I was in desperate need of a haircut. I know I wanted something simple, no styling needed so I wasn't too picky. I looked on yelp for the nearest hair salon with some good reviews and I stumbled upon LZ salon & spa. I loved the decor of the hair salon. It's very clean, modern and sophisticated. The decor makes it a stand out especially for a hair salon in Queens. I called prior to walking in and the lady said there was an availability if I went right then. So I walked on over. There were only two employees there and my boyfriend's mom told me that when she went, there was only one lady working there. They are definitely undermanned. They offer a variety of services such as manicures and pedicures and waxing. Despite being undermanned, the ladies that work there are super friendly. My hair was washed and the wash was standard. My haircut was easy as I only wanted a couple of inches taken off and my bangs trimmed. I'm happy with the haircut. It's what I wanted. So why the 3 stars you ask? Well....at the end of the haircut, she said she was done ...and my hair is still wet. So I walked out of the hair salon with wet hair. Not sure what to make of this. read more

Also, they do SUCH fantastic job in comparison to a lot places I've tried. Both Zahava and Lana are amazing and I've always been able to get an appointment when needed. I go often to get a blowdry especially during the summer and i have tried a great number of hair salons. This salon was very dissapointing, it started with two shampoos and a conditioning that was less than 1 minute long. I dont expect that all salons should entertain their clients with lavish scalp massages but i do expect a wash to feel like a wash. The hair dresser had literally placed shampoo on my hair and just rinsed it out right away. This is the first time that this happened to me while i truly say i have gotten this service done over 100 times at different places. The blowdry itself felt rushed as well and very mediocre. I really hate giving negative reviews but i expect to get some service after paying for it. Additionally i found that although the salon showcases morrocon oil products for sale, the products they actually use are very subpar quality, things that i personally would never put in my hair. The salon looks ok and clean, is in a nice area but the service that i was given would not make me return even if i had to pay $5 for the service. read more

Went on a whim to get my hair cut. After a couple of months of being in a hair depression. Went to LZ Salon & Spa because it was just down the block from my house. I walked in to the salon and was taken right away without an appointment. The girl asked me what I wanted I told her I wanted wash and haircut. Got the hair washed and then was asked what I wanted to do with my hair. I told the stylist that I wanted bangs and to just have an overall trimming. She went to work on my hair and the results were amazing. During the whole process the stylist answered my questions and even gave me recommendations. One of the best haircuts I've ever recieved. Mid way through the haircut I mentioned my eyebrows being horrendous and the girl said that they do waxing and other services as well. So after my haircut, it was the eyebrow's turn. They turned out amazing as well. Very nice place with friendly staff. Highly recommend this place. The prices for the services they offer are amazing. Finally found my salon! read more

Zahava is absolutely amazing and one of the most hard working people I know and you will always leave satisfied i guarantee you. I've been going to her since the day she opened up her salon for my nails, eyebrows, and hair cuts. I wouldn't trust a single soul to do my eyebrows other than Zahava and most definitely would not allow anyone to give me a haircut unless it's her. I've been to several different hair stylists and none of them have ever cut my hair that way I wanted it to be. They always do what they think is best for MY hair and leave me miserable with the way they have chopped off nearly half my hair. Zahava however makes it her first priority to make sure I like my hair cut and that i leave satisfied. I NEVER EVER write yelp reviews but I had to for this salon. Walked in scared back in February because I knew I needed a cut but from bad past experiences would always cringe at the sight of a scissor-happy stylist chopping away at my long locks. But after a warm hello and the simple offering of coffee (I didn't take- too scared) we got to business. Got a really good wash with nice smelling shampoo and conditioner, always a plus. After ten or so minutes of this, I was in the stylists chair and I was SCARED. I don't even remember the woman's name but I told her everything I wanted and shut my eyes. When I opened and looked, my hair was perfect and blown out even better than some celebrities. SO HAPPY. Been here twice already since and I always walk in knowing I'll walk out happy. Pricing is pretty good too considering the area, and idk about any of you but I don't want to trek to manhattan to pay 120 for what I could get near home from a nice stylist who actually cares. Just came back from an impromptu visit there for a manicure. Wonderful experience with Albina as the manicurist. Place is bright, CLEAN, friendly and cost is competitive. Compared to some of the other mani /salons on that stretch of blocks on Metropolitan, this is the one to go to. Parking can be hard, so try the side streets without the meters. While I only had the manicure this time, I intend to go back for a cut and color. read more

I have been going here for a year to get my eyebrows waxed and my hair cut. Last time I went in, about 1 week ago, I went to get my eyebrows waxed. The lady waxed off the hair around my eyebrows like every time. However, this time my eyebrows were stinging more than usual. When I left the store, I saw that along with the hair around my eyebrows, my skin had peeled off leaving red blotches on my skin. I went back in the store to complain about this and they said I had sensitive skin and put on some aloe vera which led it to stinging even more. For 4 days I could not leave my house because i had big red spots that turned brown because my skin had been peeled and burned. IT was very visible and stung a lot. Never going to that salon again! Even when I used to go for my hair cuts, the lady didn't do such a good job. For the price, it was a pretty average cut. The Eyebrow waxing was 10 dollars! Almost twice the price of other salons and they did worse than any other salon! Would not recommend! read more
