I came across this store when I was looking for Godiva, I had no idea they closed all their stores. Laderach is a family run Swiss chocolate manufacturer founded in 1962. The store is amazing with plenty of chocolates to select from. I sampled the raspberry blackberry I enjoyed the fruity flavor with the fresh white chocolate. The truffles as well, perfect for yourself of as a gift. The price points are fair and I will be coming back for more. read more

Non-existent customer service from the current employee who closes on Monday evening. Customers walk into the store wanting to buy chocolates and he can't be bothered to either look up or answer any questions about the chocolates. What a huge difference in the quality of the staff compared to when the store first opened! A suggestion for the store manager: when you're charging $62/lb for some chocolates, you may want to consider hiring staff that at the minimum pretends to want to sell anything. Keep this up and this store will close in the very near future. read more

Delicious truffles! I got to try chocolates from their 16-piece gift set twice and they are delicious. Probably the best gift set chocolate I've had so far. The booziness in some piece of chocolate are fun. They mix up the variety of chocolate in the pack so not everything you see in the box will have an identifying card and vice versa. read more

Had never tried or heard of this chocolate before and was walking by. The young guy working offered some samples and we were hooked! OMG the chocolate is the best I have ever had! The white chocolate, especially the raspberry was phenomenal. I ended up buying some of the white chocolate with berries and the truffles and then ended up ordering more online a couple days later! read more

Ordered online and paid a pretty penny for there chocolates.. the praline box arrived with a fair amount of them melted to the point they were inedible. Will never order from them again n beware of buying from them for deliver. Instead of dry ice, they use cold packs which have no span.. very poor shipping. read more

Laderach is a new chocolate shop occupying the space of the departed Godiva. I like chocolate. A lot. As in I was sad to see Godiva go. There might have been tears. Luckily Laderach is good, albeit definitely a bit higher end in terms of price. I sampled and purchased some of their bark--it seems to be a signature item and they have a diverse assortment. I bought small pieces of three different kinds, including some tasty almond and dark chocolate. Looking forward to eating it. I passed on a chocolate Santa which was a bit pricey, though probably tasty. Probably not an everyday visit but for a special treat, definitely a good option. Service was helpful too. read more

I've never had such smooth chocolate until coming here. The chocolate slabs (sheets) arrive at the store within two weeks it is made and you can definitely taste the freshness. My favorite is the milk chocolate with whole almonds. Get it, you won't regret it! If you like strawberries, get the white chocolate with freeze dried strawberries and rice krispies. read more

We went into a recommended chocolate shop in Lucerne 4 years ago. A huge selection of beautiful pieces of chocolates and so many varieties. I was sorry we didn't have time to go back. They were wonderful. So when we returned to Switzerland last year (2023) we found the same shop in the first city we visited, Lucerne. We found Laderach stores in most of the cities we visited and I bought more at each store. I loved their stores. I asked if they could ship to the US and the service rep said they had stores in the US. Looked them up and discovered a store in Pentagon Mall in DC. Our son works in the area. Selection almost as good as in Switzerland and candy was just as good. Great place to visit for authentic Swiss chocolate. read more

This is a review of the quality of the chocolates in the stores here in the D.C. area (Union Station and Pentagon City) and not the quality of Laederach itself. I've been to Laederach's store on the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich and was blown away by the great chocolates that I had there, particularly the tablets. You can tell that the Swiss love Laederach by how busy the store was in Zuerich. But it's crucial to remember that chocolate, like most food items, deteriorates in quality over time. I imagine that by the time these chocolates have been shipped and then sitting on the shelf before purchases, at least a couple of weeks have gone by. But the best chocolates start going stale after just a few days. I stopped by both Laederach stores in D.C. to sample the chocolates, remembering how much I loved them in Zurich. Unfortunately, they were a bit stale in comparison to what they were in Zurich. As a result, they simply aren't worth the high markup that is charged at the stores here (these chocolates would go for about 60% of the same price in Zurich). So, while Laederach is one of the best chocolates in the world, you won't experience how delicious it really is if you buy them in the stores in D.C. read more
