This little restaurant packs a punch! I've really been enjoying their large portion sizes and freshly cooked dishes, especially the chicken teriyaki with noodles!! Their teriyaki is sweet and savory, and slathered in sauce. This is perfect for if you like saucy noodles/rice to go along with your chicken. I also think their "bento box" meal was very worth it, as it was essentially the same dish but with added dumplings and rolls! Definition of hole in the wall spot. Walking around one night and was craving teriyaki, MJ has $4 chicken skewers so decided to stop by. The skewers are listed as grilled on the menu but are actually lightly fried, perfectly juicy and decadent. Asked for a bit of teriyaki on the side and they gave me it for no extra charge. I had me a craving for boba tea so decided to get one from here. Got a Taro Milk Tea with 30% sugar. There wasn't much of a wait to order as there was only one person ahead of me. After ordering I only had a short few minutes wait before I got my coveted tea. It was milky and tasty and the bobas were good/ok as some were a bit crunchy. Not too sweet just the way I like it. The place is not that big but there a few tables to dine in. There is bright yellow interior with interesting art on the walls and the counter. Not a review of their food, just for their drinks. I have to say this was one of my more interesting bubble tea experiences in some time! While other bubble tea places seem to be conforming to a certain vibe and image (I'm thinking Gong Cha, Chatime, Kung Fu Tea, etc), M&J does it differently. Their drinks come with free toppings! You can get pearls, mango jelly, or coconut jelly. Unfortunately they forgot the pearls in my drink so I can't say much about them... The drink cups are also quite large, and for $4.25 they are a good deal. The menu gave me "powdered mix" vibes and unfortunately I was correct. While the various flavored milk teas sound fun, my classic milk tea tasted like the powdered variety you can buy from the Asian grocery store to make your own milk tea at home. What was very interesting to me was their strawberry and banana smoothie ($4.75). I'm pretty accustomed to cafes blending a fresh/frozen banana with either fresh/frozen strawberries or some sort of strawberry puree. Instead, M&J uses banana flavored syrup. My friend and I got here on Saturday night. It was super crowded and there was only one staff who was doing casher/drinks/serving. I kinda feel bad for her but I felt that restaurant is heavily understaffed. There was no instructions or signs for ordering so we sat down for couple minutes and realized that we need to order at the counter first. It was confusing and chaotic. We got our food about an hour 45minutes after. We had beef teriyaki and eel teriyaki. They were okay, nothing special that I can mention about. We came here literally because while we were walking to Isabella Gardener Museum, I told my husband I was craving boba, and my husband immediately pointed at the sign picturing bubble tea at M&J Teriyaki. After I ordered a taro bubble tea, we waited about 10 minutes before they started making the tea behind the counter. The boba were deliciously chewy, but the taro milk was still kind of powdery and watered down by the ice. Portion size was on the smaller side for the price. Fantastic experience at M&J Teriyaki! I work right down the street from the restaurant, and just last week- my coworker told me about this place. I got the Chicken Teriyaki and Crab Rangoon last time to go- both were amazing- so just yesterday, I decided to pop in again, except this time for a dine-in meal. I got the Fried Chicken- spicy salt and pepper style- with "soba" noodles, an order of scallion pancake, and a watermelon milk tea with boba. I say "soba" in parentheses because the soba that they use is actually yakisoba, not actual buckwheat soba. Though I was expecting buckwheat noodles, I got yakisoba instead. That is not to say that the yakisoba weren't good- they actually were; seasoned with fragrant pepper and vegetables throughout. I'd definitely get them again, but just wanted to give people a heads up! The fried chicken was PHENOMENAL! Really crispy chicken- and the salt and (chili) pepper was amazing. I'm not lying, but here was probably the best salt and pepper chicken I've had. Not neglecting the vegetables- the broccoli was properly cooked- just blanched enough so that they retain their crispness. The scallion pancakes were okay. I'd get them again, just because I've always loved scallion pancakes growing up, but they are not too memorable. The milk tea- contrary to what I've heard- was good. Granted, it tastes like just adding boiling water to milk tea mix without any actual tea in it, but I loved the sweetness of the milk "tea" drink. It has an odd taste though- it's like "watery and chalky" at the same time, so it might put some people off (my coworker who told me about this place), but I like it. The boba pearls are slightly over cooked compared to other places, but this is not an issue for me. Above all, the service was AMAZING. For a fast-casual restaurant, the workers were really attentive, checking up on my food and asking how everything is. They also held friendly conversation too, and even BUSSED my plates for me. There's a bus bin that customers are expected to leave their plates in (similar to a tray system at fast food restaurants), but upon finishing my meal, they were really helpful and nice to not only get me some two go boxes, but they just gave off an extraordinary customer service vibe. read more

Came here for lunch one day and it wasn't super busy but had a few people waiting for their orders. It's a small setting with several tables and chairs. If you come here with more than 4 people you will have to combine a couple tables. The place was very clean and they took our order with no hassle. I ordered my food to go and it came in a packed up bag with napkins, a work, and a fortune cookie! They use the good containers and not the cheap Styrofoam ones too. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was good! It came with a side of veggie coleslaw which I find nice to balance out the teriyaki flavor and add some texture along with the chicken and rice. They can't keep track of orders (staff asked me and several others to repeat their orders so they could make sure they knew what they were making more than 10 minutes after ordered), they don't understand what you mean by "plain fried rice, no vegetables IN the fried rice" because even after confirmed there are still vegetables. Their phone number is temporary, it's a staff members cell phone number. They don't have consistent hours. They get orders wrongs even when double confirmed. This place definetely surpassed my expectations when it came to the quality of the food and to top it off the standard portion provided was large enough so I had leftovers to take home :) BTW they also offer a wide variety of bubble teas which is a nice addition, although those are somewhat overpriced for te quality in IMO and TOO SWEET. I ordered the chicken teriyaki, the spicy salt & pepper fried chicken, a thai milk tea, and a jasmine bubble tea. For both dishes the meat was cooked perfectly and while I am accustomed to getting some barely-green-mostly-white-iceberg-lettuce as a side, I was pleasantly surprised that they actually include properly steamed vegetables (maybe that's just my experience)! The bubble tea wasn't anything like the Kung Fu Teas or Shareteas of the world, but I didn't really expect it to be. It satiated my cravings, and the drink was huge!
