Unacceptably BAD Service - They Didn't Make a Mistake Right…read more Waugh Chapel Towing and Auto (WCTNA, nonresponsive by email at WCTNauto@yahoo.com) made a mistake when servicing my car. Hey, that's not the end of the world! Occasionally, even the best must clean up a mess. However, when a service provider fixes a problem (my car's back brakes), causes another (drains my battery because of poor handling of my car), then does not solve the second problem they caused, that is just Unacceptably BAD Service. Here's the whole story. Last year (2018), I needed a new alternator for my 2005 Saturn L300. I got a really good deal from WCTNA, and the alternator still works fine. So, when my brakes needed attention, I gladly drove ten minutes past many other Mechanic Shops back to WCTNA. Again, they replaced my brakes at a good price, and I found later that they work fine. I picked up the key and walked out to my car. Surprisingly and sadly, my car's battery had been drained! Somehow, while WCTNA had my car, they had forgotten to check the vehicle's electrical system. Was the interior dome light left on? Were the headlights shining? I don't know, but my car wouldn't start. Again, this mistake alone would not keep me from returning. However, that all changed when WCTNA didn't clean up the mess they made. Instead of admitting that their poor stwardship of my vehicle led to damaging my battery, they failed by only offering to "jump" (recharge) the car's battery. Then, after hearing my concern, they... failed. They did not offer a lower price for a replacement battery. They did not even respond to my communication by email. Wait, actually, when I called back, their receptionist let me know -- "The boss says your battery was on its last leg anyway," so they suggested I buy a full new battery AND pay full price for installation. WOW, WCTNA. You made no effort to find a middle ground: no offer of a discount on my (yes, a couple years old) battery (but certainly good enough to jump my car every day without problem). You could have offered to pay for installation. Yet, you did nothing but tell me your mistake deserved no restitution to me. So, to Anne Arundel County residents, take my advice. Don't waste your money or time with WCTNA. Who knows? Maybe they will see this message. Maybe they will earn another opportunity to serve me better. In the meantime, I certainly will find some other mechanic in Crofton, Gambrills, or Bowie to help me. There are many Car Service Providers near me, so I will check their online reviews before using them!

I needed a new radio console installed along with routine oil change, differential fluid, tire…read morerotation, etc. at the dealership for our 2015 Subaru Outback. AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.

I don't like to pay for replacement parts from the dealer (which appears to be the rule in this area of Maryland) but in this case it worked to my benefit. As for inspections, I have heard the same story about just about every repair shop. While I appreciate the level of scrutiny, it appears like a one time chance to obtain a lot of work. Coming from a neighboring state , I was naive as far as the costs and the 30 day requirement for findings to be resolved. A lesson learned the hard way. I have found the Walt Eger team to be responsive to my needs and to provide timely informative updates.

The owner is an ignorant misogynist who will not listen to any concerns you may have. I was hearing a sound when I was driving my car, and it turns out I need to get my brake pads replaced. My dealership quoted me $500 to replace them, and this shop said they can do it for $200. I brought it to them, and they confirmed that I needed to replace my brakes, when I said, I wanted to have Napa brake pads installed, he told me he already purchased the OEM brake pads for my car. I have a newer car with various auto-braking systems, so in order to install my brake pads, you need to hook it up to a computer in order for the calibration for the auto braking system to occur. I made sure to ask if he knew how to work on newer cars, he assured me he did. Unfortunately, he did not. While trying to install my brake pads, he did not properly calibrate the auto braking system, and thus he broke my brake caliper. I did not realize he broke my caliper until I went to the dealer to purchase another caliper and they told me, it needs to be calibrated or else it will break in the same manner. This is a $500 part that he broke. When I asked, if he knew how to install it, he said he does, and instead of understanding my concerns he started to argue with me and yell at me. At the same time, a group of other men started to stand around and stare at me, these men were affiliated with the owner. As a woman, I felt very unsafe. I allowed the mechanic to work on my car so that I can leave. Every time I tried to mention that I have an auto braking system that is advanced, he misunderstood me and assumed I was speaking in regard to the parking brake. Every time I tried to clear the confusion, he blatantly ignored me. The younger mechanic understood my frustrations, however, he has only been a mechanic for 3 months before working on my car, so he did not quite understand what I meant by an advanced braking system. In the end, I had to take my car to my dealer and pay them $800 in order to fix all the damage that the owner had caused to my car. Overall, I will say, take your car anywhere else, as the owner is an ignorant misogynist who will break your car and then blame you for it.

I reached out to Congress Auto as they are located fairly close to my condominium. Staff were kind, thoughtful, and understanding. I was able to get the Escape in the day after I reached out, they performed all of the work I needed them to that day aside from getting the muffler installed (they had to order it and wait for it to come) and they were able to do that within a week's time. In all, the work they performed cost me $1100. I feel this was fair, the muffler replacement alone was half of that, and the Escape is running better than when I first got it six years ago. I would definitely recommend Congress Auto for those seeking no-frills, quality service.

When we took it for a test drive there was a noise coming from the wheels and Mike the salesman said that was just rust on the rotors and once it wore off that would be fine and that was another lie, Carr had something wrong with the ball joints and that was another $500 to fix that. The car had been inspected by somebody equally as crooked as they are and the tires were dry rotted and had to replace for another 500+ dollars altogether I spent over $1700 to get the car on the road because I have to have it inspected in another state. When I called GM automotive and spoke to Mike I asked her to send me a check only for the air conditioning considering that he lied about it and he suggested that I drive back two hours to Bel Air and have their guy look at it and I thought is there guy, the criminal that passed the inspection for them too and I told him no and asked him to simply send me a check and I sent him a copy of the invoice and he could speak to mechanic as well if he liked, but they refused and they're criminals and they don't deserve to have honest customers that's for sure. The classics are real cool. They have insight on problematic issues. They have a nice , courteous staff. Knowledgeable too. My grandmother took me there and told me whatever George tells you to just do it, cause he fixed her Subaru back in the early 80s in Perry Hall. My family have been using the shop since before I was bone. They will bring you back to the old days. The ones your grandfather told you about. When people worked until they got it done right. I like the signs in the office too..like call George if you're not satisfied. I will have to say - this is the place that you can trust for figuring out and fixing the quirks on your car.
