Not sure if the taste overcomes the cost. If flavor is an eight of ten the cost is an fifteen of ten.

The avocado was fresh cut. The bun perfect and toasted on the griddle. The chef cleaned his griddle after every sandwich. The onion rings were amazing! Not the frozen kind you get in some places. Cheeseburger was delicious. Well seasoned patty, not too thick. Ratio of meat to bun was what I usually prefer. Nothing phenomenal about the bun but it didn't take away from now tasty the burger was. Soooo, this is obvi a spot in the hood (iykyk) so my expectations of this food being spectacular was an exponential reach. It was very sub par and unseasoned. I should've taken pics of the inside because chileeee, I doubt the health department goes in there. They did look like they were closed from the outside. I had to call to make sure they were actually open lmao. I only gave it 3 stars because I feel like that family is doing the best they can. The lady was really nice. Wow. This place is what it's about! Interior / Location It's very unassuming and low key. There is plenty of parking for the building. The inside has a few tables to sit at and there's a single TV. When we visited the news was on. The wall has the various combos you can order. It's counter style order. Food I've had a lot of burgers around Houston and this place definitely falls in the classic style joints. They aren't about the "new school" burgers, but do offer a few twists for toppings. We ordered the Crazy burger and the Bacon Avocado burger. There's nothing super crazy about the "crazy" burger, but it was absolutely delicious. I could eat these at least once a week no question. Service The place had a few other folks in it, but nothing bustling. Food came out quick and was all made fresh, very hot. Pricing Value is evident. You can get a drink, fries, and the burger for 9-10 bucks. Definitely another win in my book. Overall Seriously, I need to go back and reevaluate my list of top burger joints, but these burgers impressed. Located at the corner of Ave C and Wayside, I decided to stop in for lunch one day with my cousin after we took care of some family matters at Forest Park Cemetery - Lawndale. I'll admit, I came here simply based upon the Yelp reviews. As far as I know, this was the first time I've eaten here. I say that because my family as long roots in the Harrisburg area. Since this place has been open since 1975, I would not doubt if I've eaten here before. Quick side story but my mom used to take me to a little corner grocery store on Canal Street & 78th St. that was ran by an Asian couple named Bill and Esther Quan (I think they were Chinese). Anyway, I say that to say that this restaurant has been operated by a Korean family since 1975. I was in elementary school in the early 70's so I may have eaten here before but forgive me if I can't recall. What I can recall is eating here this time. I ordered the #2 cheeseburger with tater tots. The #2 is a double meat Angus burger. Everything is cooked to order. I will say that I thought the burger was very good. You can tell it is cooked on a grill that is well-seasoned and has cooked 1000's of burgers. I also like the fact that they put ALL of the basics on their burgers without you having to ask. In my opinion, all burgers should be made with both mayo & mustard, pickles, lettuce, ketchup, and onions. They do this. If you don't like something, tell them not to put it on the burger. They will also dress them up more if that is your thing. You can get avocado, mushrooms, bacon, etc. Build it anyway you like it. Personally, if you like old-school burgers, I think this place has really good ones. I also ordered the tater tots. They were fresh and good but next time I'll order the onion rings. Unfortunately, I missed some reviews that highly recommended them until after I had ordered. I'll keep that in mind for the next time I'm here. Drinks are served out of cans or bottles. They are located in a sliding door refrigerator in the dining area. The location itself if very old. The building looks like if could be spruced up some. The interior is nothing fancy. Seating is limited. The restroom in not located in the general public area. If you need to, they'll let you use the one they do have which is in the storeroom behind the counter. To the family that has been running this business since 1975, please allow me to say thank you. I enjoyed speaking with you. Bottom line - Very good burgers. I came by last weekend to eat lunch. It's not in my hood but found it from Yelp and wanted to try it. It's in an old building but has its own dedicated parking lot. On the outside it looks like low rent and when you walk in you still see low rent. Hole in the wall is a fair description. There is a serving counter with the grill behind it and 4 tables with about 15 chairs on the other side along with a couple of soft drink coolers. As basic as it is, that doesn't mean the food is bad as we all know so I ordered a mushroom burger with onion rings and a soft drink drink. With tax it was about $9.60 which isn't bad at all but almost all of their combos are $2 to $3 less. The reason mine was more was because the combos come with fries and my onion rings made the order ala carte therefore making it more expensive. The food was ready in about 10 minutes (see pic) neatly wrapped. I started with the onion rings and wow! Perfect! Light tasting with a light to moderate batter crust they were some of the best I have ever had. I don't eat onion rings often but these are now what I think of when I want them (5). The burger was fairly standard with a 1/4 lb. beef patty on a nice sized bun with the shrooms and lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. I will give the burger a 3 which means a ok. I would eat it again but I know of many far better. After I ordered, I noticed a sign that said for an additional $1.99 I could have substituted a 7 oz. angus patty instead. I am going to rate the meal an overall 3.5 but round down for Yelp purposes. I wouldn't drive from far away to eat here but if in the immediate area would be happy to stop by again. It's not large inside and with limited seating not good for groups. Value wise, it's an inexpensive place to eat and servings sizes are generous. Would also be a good take out option. I love little hole in the wall places that serve hamburgers fried on a flattop. I always root for Mom and pop type shops and businesses but this place is awful. We went twice just to make sure it wasn't an off day. Both times I endured a terrible stomach ache and it was most definitely from the burger. I was excited when I saw they offered tater tots, and I'll be honest the tots were good but highly greasy. Yes I know they're supposed to be greasy but the grease isn't supposed to be rancid. It was dirty, probably because they cook all kinds of other foods in the grease as well, it's gets dirtier faster. Changing the grease regularly will prevent that rancid aftertaste. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars were because of the tots, nothing else is edible, unless you just love chugging salt. In that case just go find a big pasture with some cows roaming about and take a lick from their salt lick block because that's what this tastes like. Now the biggest problem with the burgers here is it they taste like pure salt. Literally as if you open your mouth and dump a box of salt in it. I also found the place to be a bit creepy, not like a cute hole in the wall but an untidy place. This place looks like an old abandoned store and if you approach from the north you may think it's shut down. However the entrance is on the south side despite that the building design would lead you to think otherwise. This unassuming little place has room for at most a dozen costumers. Opt for the Angus burger for the extra buck or so it's a much better patty. My burger, onion rings and a drink was about $10, so quite fairly priced with the upgrade. While my bacon cheeseburger was tasty, the onion rings are the star of the show. They are in a tempura like batter with good almost buttery flavor and not to greasy. I'd suggest visiting this old hole in the wall for the experience and for the onion rings, but the burger isn't going to wow you. read more
