I stopped into Lee's Burger Joint for lunch one day, and Mr. Lee himself took my order and made my burger. His granddaughter was there working too, so it truly felt like a family business. It was really nice getting to meet him and chat for a bit. My burger was cooked to perfection. It felt like a true homemade burger, which I really appreciated. The space feels very homey and community-driven, and the music playing while I waited was really good. My Freind and I Stopped by today while on lunch for work. We both had the Lees burger loaded. It was top notch, had everything you need in burger just like on the grill at home but better. The fries were thick cut not fried like a fast food joint 100% better than any food spot I've been in Houston. And for $11.50 for a burger, fries and a drink is better pricing than anywhere in town. Burger is delicious, its huge, and fresh. For me personally, the burger is too big to finish in a sitting and the bread gets soggy when you don't eat it right away. I don't care to eat the fries and hate to waste food but they always act like they can't just give me the burger lol. I went to check out Chicken Plus down the road but they were packed and I prefer to not wait in line for food, so I tried out Lee's Burger Joint. A+ for customer service. The lady was very nice and respectful. Although they had a sticker that showed that they took credit cards, the lady said they actually don't accept them. Not a big deal since I had cash on me. I ordered the cheeseburger and fry combo and paid $9.70. The 1/2 lb patty was heavily seasoned and thick. I personally prefer thinner double-stacked patties because it's hard to properly cook a thick patty and not dry it out. Some places like Beck's Prime successfully cook thick patties, but unfortunately not Lee's. The fries were also thick. They tasted slightly burned. But they did give a big portion. Although I love burgers, the patty was too dry and seasoned, and the fries need to be improved. I couldn't finish my meal; I had to throw it away. I really like supporting black owned businesses, especially those with good customer service like they have. Their burger was good and tasty just a little too salty for me. I wouldn't get the catfish again. The only thing good about the catfish is that it is real catfish. It was too salty and soggy. Tasted like only salt and the filets were really small for the price. The dirty rice is really boudain out of the skin(tasted like DJs from the grocery store) but was good and the potato salad was orange and just ok. I think I'll try them once more and then make a final decision. Wanted to try the barbecue but it wasn't ready. I love going to Lee's Burger Joint when im in Settegast. I dont eat beef but i love me a good tasting turkey burger and Lee's make them just the way i like them big fat and juicy. Now on to their Lee french fries, I have never had fries that you dont even need ketchup with and at lees you will find them there. I went to Lee's burger joint today despite the bad reviews that I read because I like to experience things personally. Well I must say that the reviews were pretty accurate, because it's been a long time since I've tasted a simple burger that tasted that bad. I think they are trying to be recognized as the spot with the big burgers but they have a lot to learn. That was the worst seasoned burger I have ever tasted as a matter of fact I don't know what the seasoning was, it tasted like some herbs or something. The burger was put together kind of sloppy and the bun was oversized, the fries were hand cut, which I'm not crazy about (my preference) but I will eat them, they were okay but even though I don't care for them I'm pissed off because they charge $2.50 and they only give you about nine fries, maybe ten or twelve....no more!!!!! I like to patronize black businesses and small businesses but I don't think I'll be going back to Lee's because I can't spend money and not get what I pay for!!!! I have been wanting to try this place since they opened and I must say the wait was a big disappointment!!!!!
