I'm going to break this down for you as follows; I'm going to tell you all of the negatives about this joint, but you see the five star review? That's all you gotta know. I've watched this place make girls cry before. Yes, two sides of the story. One of them was I think homie was late, so they cut her appt (either her mani or pedi), when she was paying she begged them to stay open later, they would not. She tried to make another appt and they warned her if she was late again they would not accept her as a customer anymore!! LIKE! WHAT! They are so busy they do not need you. THEY ARE SO BUSY! Like no joke, I take time off of work to get my nails done. I rebook as I'm checking out, so 3 weeks out is when I'm booking. The receptionist are usually short with you. Do not take it personally. I would not get a pedi here - this is not because of anything other than, thats not their specialty and it's so hard to book that amount of time slot for nails + pedicures. BUT THEY ARE SO EFFING GOOD. Like every freaking time I leave I get complimented by nails from strangers, from friends from whomever. Anything you want they will do. They accommodate anything you want to do or on your nails. I ask for them thinner, or thicker, I want art or jewelry on my nails, whatever. I was told that pricing is not that great (but this was someone that lived in NJ so...), but I've shopped around and really...really for what they do, I think their prices are phenomenal. They recently moved and it looks like a bigger space so maybe they'll be able to hire more people and more appointments will open up. But worth it. Worth all of it. read more

My nails were horrific before this! Bliss is the best nail technician I've ever been to and the image I had of what I wanted turned out to be exactly that which almost never happens when you go into any salon. She was so detailed, she went over each nail in every angle when it came to filing, shaping, cutting and painting and made the tiniest revisions where needed. She was so accommodating and patient when I was telling her what I wanted and took her time. All of my requests were centered around keeping an all natural look and color which I'm very particular about since it's hard to attain that with a nail that isn't yours. Update: I echo a lot of the sentiment about m&m. Costs went up and customer service has def gone down. I've been going here for 7 years. I came in for my birthday nails and there is a 10% coupon if its your bday. They refused to honor it because I didn't pay cash. I mentioned I've been a customer for 7 years. They didn't care. I booked an appointment online and came the next day. It was my first time doing Japanese gel, and I had been curious about it. I have my usual gel mani nail studio I frequent but they moved further away and have increased their prices so I wanted to try M&M. Firstly, I was shocked to see how crowded the salon was given the fast spread of omicron. Secondly, I'm not so sure this place is sanitary. In the middle of a raging pandemic, they are not really taking the proper measures. Other salons I've been to ask me to wash my hands right after entering and pull out clean tools whereas they don't ask you to wash your hands or even use sanitizer before your appointment. And the technician took the tool from the tool container, which looked like it had someone else's nail debris, and simply dabbed the ends in alcohol. On a positive note, Yuka was very detailed and nice. My mani lasted about 3 weeks then peeled off. I don't think I will be back though. I can't get over the unsanitary situation, especially when the pandemic is still spreading like wildfire. read more

Poor nail experience and chips within a day!! Do not come here. After seeing positive reviews I decided to head to M&M to do a normal set of mani/pedi. The price was not only more than most places, around $55 with tip and I started seeing a crack just a day later which eventually resulted in this chipped nail here. For anyone looking for a lasting polish experience, this is definitely not the place to come to. I would highly avoid this place and am extremely disappointed by the quality. Honestly I feel like I just broke up with a boyfriend. After three years of utter loyalty from my end I find myself needing to find a new nail place. I survived the price hike with the move & the era of barely any techs on staff (forced to wait weeks for an appt) to now this: required tip minimums and feeling like the customer has absorbed most if not all the costs of their bigger place/wages of the techs. I completely understand that as a business you have to turn a profit to keep the doors open but at what cost? Finding balance between keeping the customer and the techs happy is tricky I get it. I tip anywhere from 10-22% depending on many things and that should be okay especially if I keep coming back. Email all of your customers and clearly outline that an 18% tip is required, your price changes and how pricing on art is dependent on who is doing it. But likely $6-11 per finger seems to be the current scale. Tip culture is getting outrageous and loyalty here gets you nothing but a free removal (and only if it's their polish). I miss having a regular girl here as I knew what to expect and even that I understand why it cannot be. So as I sit here and round the corners of the sharpest nails ever (hours after leaving) I must pay tribute to what M&M used to be: my happy place. I am so impressed with M&M studio. I'm from out of town and had been on the search for a nail studio after my acrylics started to come off. Off the bat M&M responsed to my appointment request within two hours and I was scheduled for an appointment without any hassle. I got gel extensions and nail art. In total the session took about 2.5-3 hours but the end result is absolute perfection. They use nail forms for the gel extensions rather than tips, which I was especially impressed with as most salons these days use tips. Thus none of my nails are crooked and they are all shaped identically. The nail art was gorgeous and so perfect; I had a picture for reference and I got exactly what I had in mind. The final cost for the extensions + nail art was $130, so definetely expensive but I have paid the same amount for half the craftsmanship and durability of my current nails. The beautiful women who attend you at this Japanese nail salon, which uses VERY high quality Japanese gel and other nail products, are meticulous in everything they do with your nails. They take the idea of perfection seriously here. The mani and pedi are expensive, especially if you do the fancy things like chrome or magnet or nail art, but 100% worth it. The gel manicures and pedicures last like you wouldn't believe. Aki does an amazing manicure, and Yuri gives a gorgeous pedicure. Give it a shot. Day before NYE I was one of the unlucky soles that had to go to work. At 3:15 we receive and email saying we can leave. YES! But... I have an event at 6:00 to attend now what should can I do to burn thorough the next few hours. I find M&M on Yelp with great views. I decide to give it a try but I am aware that with it being a Friday and day before New Years Eve I may run into a problem going without an appointment but at this point what can I do. I got super lucky and was able to get a gel manicure and a pedicure. My manicure was done first then pedicure. Not the usual order but I didn't have an appointment so no complaints. My nail artist was Maiko, yup I'm calling them artists because that's what they are. Never been to this kind of salon before. They use paint pots and paint brushes to do your nails. I saw some of the artists doing really cool designs. A lot of the ladies come in with a photo of what they want done. I wasn't that prepared so I kept it simple and they came out so pretty. They said their gel can last 3-4 weeks which would be very impressive. My pedicure went went no issues. They looked very pretty and well done and dried pretty quickly. Location is super easy to get to from the Path/Penn Station which is so convenient. Nana did my gel manicure and was so patient as I narrowed down my design choice. Came here a few times to see Nana because I liked how close it was to my job. I even recommended this place to a few of my friends. My last experience I came and she started throwing all these fees at me. Removal of gel from a different salon $15, which is ridiculous. They will say "its to be a benefit for their usual customers" but what happens if I travel(which happens quite often) & get my nails done somewhere else and come back? I'm a usual customer but I'm still charged! Then, she broke my nail during the gel removal and said I would have to pay $5 for the silk repair. At the end, I was not pleased and did not tip my usual, and she was not happy about it and she gave me a lot of attitude about it which was VERY disappointing. With so many places in NYC, you can find another place that delivers quality work, won't charge you ridiculous fees and will VALUE your business/relationship. read more

Bought 2 groupon deals-- one for nails priced at $32 & paid an additional $32 for designs and one for eyelashes priced at $45. Sayaka did my eyelashes which were done painlessly and gently. I got awesome results and was told to touch up every 2 weeks priced at $40-$45 and 3 weeks being $60. I got the longest lengths available (11, 12, & 13) with an cat eye style. Results ended up being gorgeous! Still very natural and not too dramatic. Perfect for my thin & non-curly Asian lashes :(. Satomi did my nails after I gave her free range of a few styles I brought pictures of. She worked her creativity and was able to complete my nails in an hour or so. I believe she used cal gel or biotech. Really happy with both of the services they offered. Only reason I was able to found the place was due to it being in the same building as where I got my eyebrows threaded earlier & ran into the spot while using the bathroom. Note to Reviewer: 90% of this score is based solely on my gel manicure/nail art. I stumbled upon this place on Groupon, there was an offer for gel manicure and pedicure for $49 - good deal, so I Purchased. But what the deal/fine print did not specify was that it applies to select nail techs. I wanted nail art done by a tech that I read about on other reviews named Sakaya. However, Sakaya does not take Groupon, so because she is a gem in nail art, I did not use the deal. So just a heads up - inquire on the techs that take the Groupon deal. As for: The Venue: Located in Koreatown. Its basically a 14 x 10 ft room, not your typical nail salon; very makeship - nothing matching, four tables/ chairs. The Service: I made an appointment via text, and received a relatively quick response for an appointment the next day evening. On arrival they were very polite and cheerful. I arrived 15 mins early (5:45PM) for a 6 PM appt, and my tech was not there yet. SO I waited, and 15 mins later she appeared. The Performance: Oddly enough she started the gel manicure first, which took a little while because of the intricate details to the design I was getting done. Needless to say I was left very HAPPY AND EXCITED, on a scale from 1-10, I give her a very satisfied 9. My pedicure was done on a chair that sat high on a wooden block, and they used a large, oval metal pail to wash my feet in. Without delving too much into this experience, which was atypical from what I use to, on a scale from 1-10, I give the pedicure a well deserved 1. Payment: Sakaya is an independent contractor - she accepts CASH ONLY!!! Clearly, I would never go back for a pedicure, but most definitely for nail art. read more

If you want extensions, please do not go here. My cousin got a 1.5 extension with a basic color and it turned out to be $130 not including tip. They also made her pointer figure nail crooked. M&M isn't my usual nail salon, but I was so impressed with their atmosphere and service I'd be happy to consider them my new manicure mothership. When I had a broken nail late one night before a big photoshoot, they got back to my Yelp message right away and fit me in the next day. When emergency strikes, time is of the essence, and you need help now! No wait when I walked in to their cute and calm studio - just a quick fix from their kind tech. They keep their color samples displayed on earring bubbles, a nice touch! She fixed me right up and the price was great, only $5 to fix my broken gel and hook me up with a new one. They also take card, which is nice since not a lot of salons do. I'm happy to call them back up next time I'm ready to get my nails done again! Wow after 4 years of coming here I'm done.. they recently moved to a new location I couldn't find the place so I called.. I was told the manager wasn't at the salon and I couldn't be helped. I said I just need you to tell me the avenue and she couldn't cause she didn't know and wouldn't ask any of the nail tech bc they're busy working. Calls drops I eventually find the it. When I get there there are 2 visible nail tech one is working and the other is standing around. I tell this new receptionist I have an appt and was the one that called.. right away she chuckles and starts speaking in Japanese. I said not cool if you have something to say speak English she proceeds to tell me that the address is on the confirmation text, I can use google maps it's not her job to tell me how to ge to them.. I said simply asking anyone hey what's the Ave wouldn't have killed her or much to ask considering I've been a loyal client for years and even if I wasn't I'm spending money. She basically said she can cancel my appointment and I can leave.. and you know what I did their prices just when up. Using of COVID and increase rent as an excuse. If you don't get your nails done with Yuka or Mikkio then it's def gonna be a hit or miss with the other tech.. it's nyc too many nail salons to take a rude ass receptionist. read more
