Destroyed nails after removal of hard gel & acrylic tips without soaking.

I stopped in here to get acrylics removed and had a bad experience. The tech did not soak my nails at all, she immediately jumped to clipping them short and then prying them off with a metrocard (this just seems unsanitary). It was painful and took off several layers of my natural nail; I don't expect my nails to look perfect after getting tips removed but I think soaking would've at least helped preserve my nails a little. When checking out I saw that "remove old set" was $8 on the register, but I was charged $18.50!! I asked why, and she said the $8 is only if you're getting a new service. So, if you don't want anything new done, they will charge you more than 200% of the price, which is absolutely ridiculous. A few extra bucks, sure, but an extra $10.50 on an $8 service is whack. I will not be back.

Great manicure. I had a couple of uneven nails so they added tip extensions and then a gel manicure with design- it looks great and you can't tell which nails are real or not. Lily was an artist and I love the design. Will definitely come back!

I came here for the first time today after a friend recommended this place. I booked a gel manicure appointment earlier on in the week through Yelp for 11am and arrived extremely early (around 10:20ish). The staff was shocked. I was shocked. The 10:30am appointment didn't even arrive yet and yet there I was. I honestly wasn't planning on arriving so early, but my class ended, so I figured why not? More time to choose my colors. The storefront is a bit inconspicuous. There's a door at 790 Lexington Ave, squished right between the market and Lilli and Loo's. You have to actively look for the store's address, or look for the store's awning hanging above, otherwise, you really might just miss it. Anyways, ring the bell, and they'll buzz you up to the second floor. I booked an appointment with Albee and while the wait took a while (my fault, because I came really early), it honestly didn't feel that long. They have A TON of colors to choose from. Must've been at least seventy or more. I should've counted XD Anyways, being the indecisive person I am, I took a while. At 10:50am, Sophia started to help me wrap my nails to remove the gel, while Albee finished up her customer. When I showed the marble design I wanted to Albee, there were no questions asked and bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, she nailed it! Albee is the nicest, most patient, and most precise nail artist I have ever met. I was expecting her to free-style the marble design, but she REPLICATED IT! Like wow, she's awesome. My nails looks stunning if I do say so myself lol. She had to help another customer with a massage after, so Lily helped me with the follow-up steps: alcohol, cuticle oil, lotion and towel off. I will say, at first, I was a bit hesitant to come here. I've read a couple of other reviews from fellow Yelpers and while they agreed that the staff do a good job, they also mentioned that the tools weren't the cleanest. When I came here today though, I noticed that their tools were PRE-PACKAGED in these transparent sealed kits. So I would definitely say rest assured. There's no need to be concerned over sanitation and nail safety. The salon itself is really clean too. At one point (around 11:40ish I think), all the other customers left one by one and there was only the rest of the staff and I. They started wiping down the tables and chairs and mopping the floors; so, for a second, I thought they were closing up for the day, but nope just cleaning up periodically throughout the day! Anyways, based on my experience today, I would say this place is bomb af! I will definitely be stopping by again!

This is tough to update on since my first experience was so wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called ahead and booked another appointment with Lilly on New years eve. Received the confirmation text with booking time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I arrived, they seemed a bit confused. Lilly was not there and Rachel did my nails instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will say that Rachel is very meticulous about the nail shape. She filed, cut, ground, filed, snipped, ground over and over and I could tell she cared a lot about the shape. Spent almost an hour and a half building and shaping. I only chimed in a few times when I got pinched particularly badly. I asked for ombre and she did a wonderful job with the nail art. I have no doubt that these will last me a month or more and stay beautiful so long as I dont need to have them removed. However, its clear to me now that my nails were extremely overworked, and that I should have been more vocal about the pain and the safety/hygiene of the tools being used, as the nail file and dremel being used to grind the nail and cuticle were dusty. When I looked at my nails that night after going out for the holiday, I was bleeding. Now, after realizing how torn up I was, and trying to keep my fingers clean and dry to heal, I am unfortunately swelling and there is even some puss. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was not the same experience I had my first time at this salon, and I am not sure if I got lucky the first time or unlucky this time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Maybe my fault for not insisting on waiting to have Lilly again, and not being more firm about the discomfort I experienced.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] read more

After a long search of places in the city who do builder gel well, I finally discovered new UV nail spa. My nails last me a full month and they always give me the perfect shape and do not make the gel too thick!! The environment is clean and relaxing. They also are reasonably priced for manhattan... $65 cash for builder gel with color on top. Located near Bloomie's, they have a mani-pedi combo for $35 before 3pm on weekdays. Cheap for NYC. They will do; just be mindful they are gentle...many gals there get aggressive and cut you as they rush. In a pinch, they'll do! Quick Dry is $1 extra. read more

Fill can be held off to 3-4 weeks using uv gel. No matter the service provider I have always received excellent service for many years. many of the naysayers are flybynights. enjoy your visit here, the have a boatload of services available ! Leave a note ! read more

I got a $50 powder manicure and after just 2 days my nails are chipping and cracked. This should not be the case as I am not engaged in any manual labor, I just do the regular day to day things. I was shocked and very disappointed, my nails took quite a while to do and I expected them to last their time. read more

I've been getting the same sharp black acrylics for over 4 years and I was nervous to find a good place when I first moved here this past May. Albee does an incredible job and listened to what I wanted and made sure to perfect my shape, checking to make sure I was satisfied along the way. They have great prices and my sets always last super long!! Highly recommend this place! read more

I made an appointment the morning of, and they were super accommodating and understanding when I was a little late because of my train. Lily did such a good job with my hard gel refill and fixed two of my broken nails-- she was able to work quickly while also not being rough or callous with my nails. My friend got gel art and Coco also did a great job. Although my total came out to $89 (without tip), which is on the pricier side, I appreciate the fact that Lily was upfront about the prices and explained each service she would charge for BEFORE she started my nails. I've been to other places that will tell you one price at the beginning and then charge you more at the end for the tiniest things. All in all, it was a smooth and easy process and I'm glad I found New UV! read more

Not so hot... My nails are already chipping and it's only 3 days from when I got SHELLAC NAILS. The lady I had was very nice, but way too meticulous. It took 90 minutes for my shellac to be done. 90 MINUTES. Of course it happened on a day when I had things to do and places to be... Not at all satisfied. Color is the only pretty thing about these nails. I give them barely a week to survive. Waste. read more

I came in as a walk in and ask if anyone was free. Albee was free and did my nails. She was nice and friendly and was very patient with me when I ask her about a price on the multicolor French gel manicure. She told me the price from regular gel to design included. Then she help me choose the colors since I didn't really like light color, since my job doesn't allow me to wear light color nail polish. New UV Nail Spa started in 2015 when we took over the management of Karen's UV Nails. We went through a complete renovation of the interior, and also restructured and reorganized to better serve our clients. I've been going to UV nail for about a year, but I think our relationship is over. I go weekly for a regular manicure +/- a ten minute massage about once a month. My nails always look good for the first three to four days, but then they start chipping. I think this is somewhat expected in a manicure, although I've had them last longer at other places. Prices keep climbing- it's now $13-13.65 for a bare bones manicure. I've never had a great massage there. Some are bad and some are OK but it can be a good way to kill 10 minutes while you're drying your nails. Today, I had a pretty disappointing experience at the salon. I was pretty much the only person in there so, of all days, today shouldn't have been a bad one. The manicurist scolded me for biting my cuticles (I get it, I sort of deserve it), insinuated I didn't tip enough by saying "I'm also going to be the one doing your massage" after I gave her a tip, and then proceeded to give me the WORST massage I've ever had in my life. I'm talking basically a ten minute back rub up and down, up and down. Time to start exploring other salons in the area, I will say their redeeming qualities are they rarely have a significant wait and they have a loyalty card so that you can get a free manicure after ten visits. However, not enough to outweigh the negatives in my opinion so I'm moving on. read more

Got the worst manicure of my life from Sandy. Ruined the shape of my nails. Barely cleaned out the cuticles. Asked her repeatedly to clean the polish she applied all around the the nail bed. No hand massage , barely even applied moisturizer. Had to spend hours at home after cleaning out polish from all around cuticles. Obviously this girl had no idea what she was doing. It's a shame this salon is going down hill under new management. I have been coming here for years and although have my favorite nail technicians, but never was not worried that my nails will be butchered if end up in someone else's hands. Definitely not the case anymore with Sandy. Even though she barely spent 15 min on my nails from start to finish, she did as much damage as one could in that tine . I used to live in New York and was constantly getting my nails done here by Lily. I've since moved to New Jersey and had two kids. I decided to find a new nail salon locally but have been horribly disappointed. I am now back to seeing Lilly and my nails are back to looking fabulous. Constantly change my mind as to what shape I'm into and she always gets it just right. On the few occasions when Lily cannot see me I see Mindy and she is also wonderful. My newest obsession is the gel pedicure. I've always been too scared to do it but was finally talked into doing it by Lily and I'm thrilled with the results. Lily advised on how to get that result but gave me options (discussed cost difference). I wanted this look for an upcoming wedding and what I came away with is the most gorgeous nails and look!!! It isn't a factory--the manicurists are super talented and careful, taking their time to make sure your nails look perfect and the polish lasts a really long time without chipping. They keep everything very clean, and the staff is friendly and professional. However, because they are so good, this place is often very popular and busy. You might find that even if you have an appointment, you have to wait a little while before your technician is ready for you. It's not a huge issue, but it does mean your visit might take a bit longer than you expect. The worst most unprofessional nail salon. I used Maria for years but when she left I stopped going. I called today to make an emergency appt and then Lilly called 5 min later to cancel she is extremely unprofessional and rude I wouldn't advise any hardworking professional to go to this place as your money is not appreciated and they talk about their customers and the tips they leave. They also do not clean their implements properly this location is disgusting and the employees have the nastiest attitudes. Yuck! They are not sanitary at all, I went in for a pedi and they tell me to soak my feet. As I'm about to start, I see something floating in the pedi tub. Totally grossed me out, and get this, when I tell the nail stylist, she tells me it's only left over scrub from the previous cleaning and not to worry. What!!! After living in NYC for 3 months, I have FINALLY found my perfect nail spot! This place was one of the only places I have found that does true acrylic nails for under $100. It is still a bit pricey, but the quality I received was incredible. I hesitate to write this because I'm not want to complain about nails or beauty services however I…read morehad a very disappointing experience today. I had broken a toenail so I went to get extensions on my front toe as I have an event this weekend and I called beforehand to confirm they would be able to handle it. However, after the extensions were put on the first two toes I realize that they were a lot longer than they should be so I asked them to file them. Again, they were still very long and would've banged into shoes so I asked again kindly if she could please file them shorter to be below the skin. Still, they were too long and uncomfortable so I showed her a picture of what I wanted them to look like and ask that she filed them down once again. It fell as though she was trying to rush because she never once asked are these a good length she just kept proceeding to the next step and I had to stop for each time and ask her to file them down more. By the third time, I realize that I was not going to get what I wanted and it would be better if I just left them as they were and filed them down myself at home I asked her if she could just stop the pedicure without painting or doing anything further she very quickly agreed instead of asking me what the issue was so she could fix it which I also found interesting. I am not one to do something like this, as I have never walked out of an appointment in my life. I really wanted to have nice nails for my event as I rarely treat myself to getting my nails done. However, this experience was not great and I was still charged the full amount of $50, even though my nails were not even painted. I asked twice if that was a correct price and the woman confirmed that it was. I was expecting to at least be charged a little bit less since I did not get them painted or finish the service. Of course, i still tipped as I felt weird about the situation. I called later on to confirm with a manager, but I was told the manager was not in and then I could come back later. Highly disappointed, and wish they wouldve said they werent comfortable doing this service if it wasnt something they often did. Now Im out $50 and will have to do my toes myself.

I forgot to get the name of the lady who did my pedicure but she was great, took her time and very meticulous. I'll definitely come again and get extra massage :) Make sure to call & book an appointment!
