I've been coming here for a few years now after being recommended by a friend. In the beginning, I was usually happy with the work, aside from a few minor issues here and there. However, the last few times I've come in, I've been really disappointed with both the service and quality.(I did take a break from the salon before this last visit.) One issue was that the price increase was never communicated upfront - typically should before starting the service. More importantly, the quality of the nails was below par. The nails didn't look natural, the French tip shape was a little thick, I asked if the thickness could be adjusted, the technician became slightly agitated and denied me. I ended up leaving unhappy. I was over charged for a mediocre job. I had to go to another salon just 3 days later to redo the entire set. They even pointed out that the gel was already cracking and told me the work hadn't been done properly - just 3 days later. A waste of money and time! I wanted to share this feedback because I've genuinely supported this salon for years, and it's disappointing to feel the quality, communication, and overall customer experience have declined. That visit was my last visit. I will not recommend this salon again. Also, they should treat their regular with much more value. read more

I've been coming here for my eyelashes few years now. This the only place who does "bind lock" extensions outside of Japan. (well, in NYC at least.) I had a lovely experience collaborating with Michi on my nails - I came in with specific thoughts on what art I wanted on which nails, and Michi was precise in mocking it up, confirming pricing (I think Sasa overcharged me last time), and then was patient when there were things I wanted to change from that original plan as the nails were coming along. I'm super happy with how it all came out - with it being pricey, and an occasional treat, I wanted it to be done well, and it was! Yuri is amazing! She did my nails (medium art), as seen in the photos here. I made an appointment for October 12, and wanted to get nails done for my birthday month. I wanted bloody inspired nails (it was also Halloween month but this is just coincidence). Yuri did my nails just as I envisioned it! I also let her know that I have a bleeding disorder, so she didn't cut my cuticles and was very careful when filing to make sure I don't get cut. The salon itself was really busy, and there's music playing. There's also one bathroom stall. For birthday month, they give a discount but you need to pay in cash. I've been loyal to M&M for years. It's a clean space and the prices are reasonable. The gel manicures tend to last 3+ weeks. The staff is nice and they are usually running on time. However, the last two times I have gone, my nails have chipped within the first week. I'm not sure if this has to do with the technician I saw those times (I go to whoever is first available, as it is hard enough to get an appointment.) Due to the chipping (which happened when I was on vacation) I had to visit a different salon to get a manicure just a week later. Unfortunately, on my next visit, I had to pay $20 for gel removal from a different salon - despite it not even taking any longer than normal to remove. Frustrating as I have been a loyal customer for years and the only reason I went to a different place was because the manicure I received there didn't hold up to standards. I would understand $5 or maybe even $10 (which is the price it used to be) but $20 is really insane - I've never been to another salon that does this. Also, they should get more color options. The selection is slim and not comparable to that of other salons within the same price range. read more

M&M studio exceeded my expectations! I came with two friends, one of which swears by this place, on a Sunday. We made appointments online, the process is quite straightforward! I was a bit late due to incoming traffic from Jersey, but i called to let them know and they were very accommodating. The salon is located in the second floor. The elevator of the building is older so you have to open a door (not me standing for 5 minutes thinking the elevator was broke), but you can also just easily take the stairs! The salon is bright and roomy, felt very clean when you enter! Because I was late, they didn't have the time to do a more complicated design that I wanted - which I did not mind at all. They showed me what they could do in that matter of time and were able to set my expectations. My specific nail tech was named Sasa and she was sooooo meticulous! I've never had this level of carefulness shown on my nails. Let me tell you!!!! I felt like every nail paint stroke was intentional and with such detail, was truly in awe at her technique and how neat everything was. I will 1000000000% be back. This nail salon was clean, detailed, and friendly! Not really sure what else you'd need from a nail spot. Also, they do give a cash discount!!!!! read more

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a gel manicure spot. I made an appointment online. The place is located is on the 2nd floor, you just ring the doorbell. I wasn't sure which nail tech to pick on the site so I picked any staff. Moyo was super nice and friendly. The studio is modern and clean. There are a variety of colors to chose from. The Japanese gel manicure cost $60 which I think is a little on the pricer side for a one color gel manicure; hopefully it lasts long. I would come back to try the japanese gel nail art or chrome nails (These services cost more). If you book online as a first time client, you have to pay a 50% upfront just fyi. read more

(I typically get nail art and prefer soft gel, so M&M seemed perfect. The studio is super clean, and I was taken right around my appointment time, which I really appreciated. My nail tech was SO sweet and paid so much attention to detail -- truly, I don't think I've ever had such a thorough pedicure. The nail art was also exactly what I asked for and I was so impressed by how well she stuck to the design! My issue with this salon is the prices. I am used to paying a premium for my nails, but I ended up paying $170 for a gel manicure, a regular pedicure, and some nail art before tip (most of which was really just a French manicure). I've NEVER paid more than $120 MAX. I can't justify coming back here at those prices, but if you can afford the steep prices, the manicures and pedicures are great quality. read more

I was visiting New York for work and wanted to try a Japanese nail salon during my stay and found this gem on Yelp. They were steps from my hotel and were able to take me as a walk in. Sadly I couldn't get any nail art since it was a last minute appointment, but my gel manicure and regular pedicure were perfection. Everyone in the salon was very friendly and it's a beautiful and relaxing space. Highly recommend this spot, but make sure to make an appointment a few days out! read more

My favorite place to get my nails done in the city. If you're anything like me and have super brittle nails, you like to bite your nails, or your regular gel manicure always peels within the first week, don't wait any longer and come here! $60 for Japanese gel manicure that will last so long without peeling. I got extensions which is $120 and so worth it for the amount of detail and precision and care they use every time. Love this place but today I went and the pricing just did not make sense. If you ever want to switch to a regular pedi after they did your gel pedi last time, please note that they will charge you for the gel removal (even when they did the work). Normally removal is free from this salon if they did the work, but not in this case. I found that to be a very annoying surprise because for all that I would have either taken it off myself or went for the gel again (I mean really, make it make sense). On the bright side, Yuka does a 5 star job every single time. read more

They do consistently flawless work. Every brushstroke is intentional. I've had Sasa and Moyo and both ladies are fantastic. My only gripe is that for the price, the front desk hospitality could be a little better. One of the front desk receptionists has a bit of an attitude. She makes you feel dumb for asking reasonable questions, scoffs at certain comments, and is generally not very nice. Looking at other reviews, I see this has happened to others as well. I recently moved to the city from Las Vegas and I am very very picky about my nail salons so I did A LOT of research before finding a place and I'm so happy I landed on M&M studio. They do Japanese gel which I had never had before, but their work looked good so I decided to book. The gel lasts sooo long. I can easily go 4 weeks without a chip or anything and all the girls do an amazing job. They pay attention to the cuticles and take their time making sure the gel is always laid perfectly. I've gone to Sasa and Miki and they are both great, but I would feel confident going to anyone in the studio. It's also very easy to book appointments and I have had no problem with availability. The price is nothing shocking in my opinion, I pay $100 for a hard gel fill (I paid $80 in Vegas) and it's NY after all. read more

I've been to this nail studio couple times before and I've always liked how my nails came out. And this time they absolutely aced it. I somehow planned Disneyland and Disneyworld in a same month, and I wanted to get my nails done to hype up my 2 back-to-back Disney trips. The original reference designs I sent to M&M Studio was little too much, but they were quite accommodating and patient with design changes throughout our texts. My nail tech was extremely thorough with the designs, and she was so nice as well. In my experience so far, other nail shops are like toss of a coin - sometimes you'll get good work, sometimes you won't. This place, however, will deliver solid work every time. read more

They got me in in an hour, and they were right on time. Clean, airy salon. I had an appointment for a non gel pedicure and they were able to add on a non-gel manicure at the same time. Both technicians were really nice. The manicure was incredible, one of the best ever, it lasted a week with no chipping. I have been coming to this nail salon for a while now. The new location is a lot nicer and the pedicure chairs and pedicure area is more comfortable. I usually stick to a regular gel manicure but today decided to mix it up and get art as well. I usually don't pick a nail tech when I schedule the appointment, because every nail tech is great with the gel manicures. I have had done gel art a handful of times and I have forgotten the name of the techs (sorry). I have posted pics of the nail art I have had done here. Today Oza did my manicure. She had great attention to detail, was attentive to me, my cuticles look great, the polish is smooth, the art is dainty and is just what I asked for. I like my nails cut short because they tend to grow fast, she gave me exactly what I asked for. I asked her if she would be available next month so when I book I know to choose her name. I'm going to break this down for you as follows; I'm going to tell you all of the negatives about this joint, but you see the five star review? That's all you gotta know. I've watched this place make girls cry before. Yes, two sides of the story. One of them was I think homie was late, so they cut her appt (either her mani or pedi), when she was paying she begged them to stay open later, they would not. She tried to make another appt and they warned her if she was late again they would not accept her as a customer anymore!! LIKE! WHAT! They are so busy they do not need you. THEY ARE SO BUSY! Like no joke, I take time off of work to get my nails done. I rebook as I'm checking out, so 3 weeks out is when I'm booking. The receptionist are usually short with you. Do not take it personally. I would not get a pedi here - this is not because of anything other than, thats not their specialty and it's so hard to book that amount of time slot for nails + pedicures. BUT THEY ARE SO EFFING GOOD. Like every freaking time I leave I get complimented by nails from strangers, from friends from whomever. Anything you want they will do. They accommodate anything you want to do or on your nails. I ask for them thinner, or thicker, I want art or jewelry on my nails, whatever. I was told that pricing is not that great (but this was someone that lived in NJ so...), but I've shopped around and really...really for what they do, I think their prices are phenomenal. They recently moved and it looks like a bigger space so maybe they'll be able to hire more people and more appointments will open up. But worth it. Worth all of it. read more
