The fries were nice & crispy and the chili is excellent- it has some cheese woven in there and is a perfect fry or dog topping. Delicious...! Next Time I'll get the hot dogs. Their best dressed dog comes with bacon, cheddar cheese & chili and it runs $2.15...! Very clean place, friendly staff, open kitchen so you can watch them cook your food (if you're like that). I bought three hot dogs, fries, and a side of chili. The hot dogs are so salty that I took one bite and couldn't stand it. They taste like fake smoke and salt, with no other flavors. MP Coney Island Shenango Twp I've been trying for months to get basic food safety issues fixed and nothing has changed. As someone with experience in many other fast food restaurants I was especially concerned about chemicals being sprayed near food and on food-contact surfaces, when I know that we are supposed to use sanitizer water. At this point I don't feel safe working there, and I don't feel good about people eating there without knowing what's going on. These are things I personally witnessed and wrote down with the related food code sections: * Topping off ketchup and mustard bottles every night and leaving the old condiments on the bottom instead of fully emptying and cleaning the bottles. * Using the handwashing sink for cleaning tools like the flat-top grill brush, and letting dirty scrubbers sit in the sink. * Not dating ready-to-eat, time/temperature control foods correctly, or at all. * The ice well under the pop machine wasn't cleaned for months after opening. When it finally was, there were dead bugs and slimy buildup on the bottom as well as mold ! * Using undiluted Spic and Span instead of proper sanitizer water on food-contact areas. * Spraying Spic and Span while food was out, and keeping the bottle on the food prep table instead of storing it away from food, equipment, and utensils. * Hanging the burger grill brush with the brooms, dustpans, and mops instead of storing it as clean food-contact equipment. The general manager, Adriana Deporzio, was aware of these issues. I brought multiple concerns to her, including the use of Spic and Span near food and the way cleaning tools and food-contact items were being handled. She knew about these problems and still did not consistently correct staff or make sure things were done the right way. All of this goes against the FDA/PA Food Code regulations and I don't want to stay quiet about it. I'm posting this so people can make their own choices about where they eat. I'm not looking for drama--just accountability and safer conditions for both workers and customers. read more

The counter by the drink machine was very filthy as well as the fountain dispensers themselves I was afraid to set my glass down in the spilled beverage syrups. The tables were not wiped off. I used to love the hot dogs and cheeseburgers.... its been a while but, I ordered 4 chili dogs with mustard, 4 double cheese burgers with chill, I received 4 hot dogs with MAYO only, 1 cheeseburger 3 doubles, i paid over $35.00 for really bad food. I live in the Burgh so I did not realize the error until I got home. We had a separate order of the Chilli bean soup, it was Watters and salty. I was a big fan, WHAT CHANGED? Who ordered a hamburger? Coney Island is known for their hot dogs, with just about anything on them! This place is totally old school, CASH ONLY! Typical order is 2 chili cheese dogs and a chili cheese french fry! The cheese is shredded cheddar and melts against the hot chili if you can wait a few minutes for it to melt. The chili is usually a little spicy and has no beans. They also serve hamburgers but from what I have heard they usually take 5 minutes or so before you get them! The french fries are think, shoestring type french fries. Cover them with chili and cheese and they are delicious. You can purchase chili to go and I suggest you order it hot and not cold. The hot chili always seems to be a little spicier than the cold. If you are in the New Castle area you should try the chili cheese dog from Coney Island....delicious! read more

Definitely the best chili dog in the the tri-State area! The chili is very thick, spicy, and if you're into chili cheese dogs, it's perfection. I like mine with mustard, onions and topped with chili & cheese. They're AMAZING! You can also get flame cooked hamburgers, cheeseburgers and of course add chili onto them for the BEST!! They also serve full meat chicken strips - not chopped up stuff that's formed, but really nice size pieces of all chicken. The fries are fantastic, and with chili cheese on them, addictive! Milkshakes are one of the best in town because they still make them each to order with real ice cream. There are more menu items, but would be too long to list. They do have a drive-thru and it's handy, but because everything is made to order, there may be a wait. I usually go inside to order and take home. The inside is a little run down, but the tables have always been clean. They only take cash as payment. By far THE BEST Hot Dog I have ever had. I recently moved to Arizona and I visit back home (New Wilmington and New Castle) about four weeks of the year and I go there about 3 times per visit because there is no other Hot Dog out there like it.
