Back for some down home stand by great Chinese food. The biggest take is if you ask for Chinese mustard, be very aware this is the resl deal, it will hit you like great wasabi. Your taste buds as well as your brain will get a instant hit from the horseradish will make tears come and open all your sinuses. This is a proper Chinese restaurant, they start you off with a soup of some kind, this time they had a hot and sour soup for starters before your meal. I went for the beef stew chow fun wet. One of these days I will need to try their dry version. This will be a good stand by Chinese restaurant, their menu items are not that extensive but I wished they have bitter melon but most people are not apt to order it. My family comes through this area on our way back hiking Yosemite National Park to Bay Area. We enjoyed Forum Dynastry because they had a wide assortment of dishes and reasonable pricing . I haven't had sizzling rice soup in a while. Pricing is great. A few nights before we spent 2X at a Chinese Restaurant. Update 3/2026: First time here in I don't know how long. I ordered the General Chicken Lunch plate. It was around $16.90 after upgrading to fried rice AND with it being after Lunch hours. Fairly reasonable I'd say. It's a pretty decent sized portion and it would be an even better bang for the buck as the base price with steamed white rice. I had also ordered the steamed BBQ pork buns. Service isn't bad. My server was very nice and helped me decide on my dishes too. Here's where things get dicey. The chicken had the look and feel of something that came premade from a bag/box and the uneven coating of the sauce makes us seem like they just pour the sauce on top after plating the meat with the rice. The General chicken had pretty much no heat and was more sweet and tangy than anything. The eggs top soup was barely lukewarm as well so it was nothing to write home about. As for the location, it's not tiny but it isn't large by any means. There's a decent number of booths and tables considering the location. I wanted to try something different in town so decided to check out Forum. Hospitality was great- super friendly when I walked in. As I was looking through the menu for a to go order, I was brought some hot & sour soup (tasty). I ordered the lunch plate of general chicken and fried rice which I really enjoyed. We also got the cheese puffs and potstickers- both of which were pretty good. The orange chicken was a bit too "orange" for me on the flavor profile. My personal preference is a little more subtle in that aspect! There is a 4% processing on all CC transactions so plan for cash or debit. (It is very clearly stated on the menu but he also kindly informed me as well when I went to pay.) I'll be back to try other items for sure. read more

We ordered first the egg rolls, they came dark from outside, cold from inside with too much oil..I asked the owner who brought it to bring a better ones that is good inside out. A minute or two another person brought it burned outside and looks horrible to even try. I asked the owner to take it because of the bad burned order, he was upset and loudly and rudly said I don't want to argue with you. The steamed rice has a very strong old taste to it. The Mangolian beef has a tons of sugar added to it, and most of the order is green pepper and onions! Extremely bad to eat anyway. Conclusion: don't go and eat there period. Forum Dynasty has plenty of Parking because they are located in a Strip-mall!!! Warning they do Charge a 4 Per Cent Fee for Credit Card Transactions!!!!! I rolled in like a Boss and was Greeted and Seated and Presented with a Table and a Menu. I Perused their Menu and Ordered a Combination Meal A . Combination Meal A Consists Of Soup of the Day --- Egg Drop Fried Rice Chow Mein Sweet and Sour Pork And 2 Fried Prawns !! 5 Minutes Later my Food was Served to me Piping Hot!!!! It was pretty tasty!!! My only Complaint was the Portion Sizes was very small!!!!! I mentioned it to the Owner !! Service was Enthusiastic and Helpful!!! I haven't had the chance to frequent this restaurant as I did in 2015 and 2016. However, the Steamed Filet of Sole is just as good as it was, regardless of the change in ownership. This would be a 3.29 mile walk and bus service is so-so. Finally, for Lunar New Year, I was craving fish and I decided this was a better choice than going to Lathrop, just because I might end up walking home, which I did. I was greeted almost immediately, and given the freedom to choose a table, I happened upon one that had recently been used. The host/server ran for a towel and cleaned it. I told her to relax. It wasn't an emergency. I looked at the menu, after ordering iced tea, and could barely make out the words. What's worse, there isn't any Chinese writing, and it's more difficult to understand the recipes and ingredients without that. Still, I found my way to the item I wanted, and the server asked if I wanted the Filet of Sole Fried or Steamed. I wanted it Steamed. After a minute and talking with someone else back toward the kitchen, she asked if I wanted rice. I think it's a silly question as to whether I wanted rice. I'm Japanese and I wasn't ordering noodles, so of course, I wanted rice. (I also had to ask for chopsticks.) After another moment, she brought the iced tea and what seemed to be hot and sour soup. So, the tea was fine and the hot and sour soup was not spicy, nor was it sour. It had a good flavor, but I'm just not sure what it was supposed to be. When the main course arrived, I felt such positivity. It didn't matter about anything else just then. The manager started to bring me a plate, but I didn't need one since I wasn't sharing the fish with anyone else. It was just as I remembered, thankfully. This is what I want every Lunar New Year. I've always rooted for this place considering they've been living in the shadow of Kitty's kitchen forever, but they just can't seem to get out of their own way... When you call in an order you have to talk to unprofessional teenagers passing the phone back and forth to each other because they are unsure of what's on the menu or they just can't be bothered because they are ready to end their shift; it's always one or the other. As for the food, it's as though there is no love or pride put into the dishes. Everything is bland and lifeless, which is usually never the case with chinese cooking. I ordered the bean noodle w/pork and napa cabbage, which was under the "pork" section so you'd assume it'd actually come with more than 4 skimpy strips of pork over a wet bed of soggy noodles, but that wasn't the case here. Everything else we ordered was so forgettable that it isn't even worth mentioning, and I was even requested by my family to never order from this location again. I don't usually leave reviews unless food is really good or really horrible. I have to give this place one star for a few reasons. The food was very bland with no flavoring at all. I ordered prawns and they literally were so hard and was 98 percent batter and 3 percent shrimp. I can compare it to freezer microwaved prawns. No flavoring at all no seasoning. Also ANY Chinese food place I've ever been to gives big portions to where i only need to order 2 combo plates to feed about 4/5 people. These plate portions are surprisingly SMALL. If they were small and good i wouldn't even have made this review but the food is HORRIBLE. The rice was bland, more like white rice fried a little bit. Disgusting. The chow mien was greasy as hell. Prices were decent though i guess. The one star i gave was for customer service. Seeet and sour pork tasted burnt i feel robbed. Food was thrown away! An all around bargain! The Forum Dynasty is a typical Chinese restaurant with pictures on the walls and some round tables that set 8 and some smaller ones, and also booths. And it is relatively inexpensive for the large amount of delicious food you are served. But the real gift is the service! The owners come and chat, and even help the servers. For us tonight, our 90 year old friend loves the sweet and sour pork from here. He ate most of it, and as our server was boxing up what was left, the owner came out with smile and a little extra to fill up our friend's box! Such service is hard to find! read more

I honestly really liked the atmosphere, the dining, and the food..... the cups were the only thing i questioned while eating..... I don't know how sanitary reuse-able plastic cups are..... until we were leaving..... I looked in my plastic cup, which I thought they brought from their kitchen cabinets at home and I saw a tiny fly or mosquito in my water. I guess I couldn't see past the ice. It's hard to find good chinese food in the area. Forum Dynasty is best I've had around here. Had a big family dinner (10 adults) here during Mother's day weekend. Came in during the week and pre-ordered some food, some off menu and some on menu stuff We ordered Lettuce Cups Whole roast duck Fried tofu with shrimp on top Whole steam fish Dried garlic chicken Steamed chicken with ginger/scallion sauce Black mushroom with bok choy and tofu Pork Chow mein Peking Spare ribs Salty fish fried rice with chicken Once we were all seated, they started rolling out the food! My family devoured all of it, we were so busy eating I forgot to get a picture of all the food. My family loves to eat and had nothing but good things to say about the food. The owners were awesome during the whole meal, checked on us regularly and made sure we were taken care of. They don't do dessert here but I got a fruit tart from Safeway next door. We just happened to pass by Manteca coming from Oregon on our way back to Las Vegas. It was 8:30pm and we doubt we'd find a good place to eat, specially we are unfamiliar with the town. We saw Forum chinese restaurant still open so we came in and ask if dining is still available being that they close at 9pm. They accommodated us and being that they are nice enough to do that, we did our ordering really quick. The food came in just as fast as we ordered them and they were delicious!! I mean, we've had chinese food in bigger places that were disappointing but this place is really good. Too bad I was not able to take photos because we were hungry. We ordered: Yang Chow fried rice Pork ribs in spicy salt Fish in black bean sauce (not on the menu but they made it for us) Fried garlic chicken Wor wonton noodle soup Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce (was not available but it was ok because we had enough food anyway) The prices were reasonable, and the owner was very friendly.
