I ordered a Bento Box and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and fit of the clothes. The check out and return policies were easy. The clothing is not inexpensive. I would say it is in line with Theory or Boss price wise. The fit and quality of the products are great. The pieces are classic with nice subtle details that make the clothes stand out. Came here for some work staples after moving to a more business professional position and couldn't have been happier with the service and options! They a good range of plus sizes and my stylist was really helpful in selecting pieces for me based on my preferences. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but they don't have clothes for sale off the rack. They order them for you and ship them, so it's not a great choice if you're trying to find a jacket for a lunch tomorrow. Definitely pricey, but worth the investment! read more

I love the clothes at MMLaFleur, and now only purchase MMLaFleur clothes for work. The clothes are nice, easy to wear at work (no hiking dresses/skirts, adequate shoulder coverage, sleeve holes large enough to avoid sweat stains but not too large to show skin, lined...etc). Despite my love for the brand, I have a few criticisms: 1) Horrible shipping. The "free" shipping takes weeks. For a company trying to exist in an online marketplace, the shipping needs to be free, fast, and reliable. It's no comfort to me that the shipping is free for orders over $100 -- which items cost less than $100? If I spend $2000, I dont want to pay for shipping and I want the items quickly. I could get this with any other retailer. The shipping prevents me from purchasing one-off items because I dont want to deal with a 2-3 week ordeal for just one jacket or dress. 2) Pilling. The machine washable dresses tend to pill. The Nisa dress (one of my favorite work dresses) has a problem with this, and I expect the other machine washable dresses of the same material to pill as well. The pilling occurs on the hips/backside of the dress, and makes the dresses look immediately cheap if not fixed (I've used a razor to cut off the pilling, but I dont think that's a great long-term solution). 3) Delicate hems. Hems are somewhat delicate on the dry clean only dresses. Ive had to repair the hems on two of my dry clean only dresses, but I wear them all the time and I figure its bound to happen at some point. 4) Inventory. The company seems to struggle with keeping items in stock. I want to save time when I shop for work clothes, not check back/wait around for a notification that an item I'm interested in is now (temporarily) available. I have time now. Not later. Isnt that the point? This goes along with complaint #1 (shipping) in that I save up a bunch of items Im interested in to buy at once, but then 2/3 of the items arent available. Frustrating. 5) Tax. There's no MMLaFleur shop in my state (Washington) but I have to shell out for tax? Why? The website should explain why Im being forced to pay tax with no physical store in my state. Besides those issues, I still find MMLaFleur clothes easy, comfortable (while still professional), and lasting. Im sure MMLaFleur will improve as they grow. read more

Love the concept and many of the styles are nice and classic, but what's up with the sizing? I am a 36B and can barely get some of the large tops around my chest and over my shoulders. Needed help from my daughter to get one of the tops off when I tried on and couldn't get back off. Also, shirts without any stretch in them are not comfortable. So wonderful! I love MM, but live in California so I always have to order online. I was in DC on business and had a free day so I made an appointment to see the new spring/summer pieces. It was such a fun morning. My stylist was so great and pulled some pieces I would have never thought would work, but did. I am 37 years old, 5'7, 36D, 31 inch waist and 43 inch hip. They have clothes for every body. I just thoroughly enjoyed it. And, what's best was everything just gets shipped directly back to my home. No additional room in my suit case required! MM and it's philosophy has completely changed my approach to my work wardrobe. The pieces are unique, polished and very high quality. I would never even think about doing work clothes from Nordstrom, Ann Taylor or Banana Republic again. I've minimized a great deal but truly have a work wear capsule that I can rely on day after day. I had a very pleasant experience working with Ashley in late August of this year. The clothing and fabrics were quite variable and I found two dresses, two skirts, three tops, and a pair of pants that I absolutely love in their "additional sizes" line. I brought one top home with me that they had sold-out of online and the rest arrived in 5 business days to my home in Northern Virginia. Ashley was faithful to my style brief request to maximize color options and minimize black, though the coordinating black skirt and top that she laid out for me to try is one of my favorite outfits; amazingly comfortable, flattering, and professional (like all of my first round of MM items.) The curtain-encircled changing areas were not quite what I was expecting but I felt welcome and at-ease my entire visit, even indulging in a glass of prosecco during checkout. I wish I could give zero stars. I placed an order in August 2018 and was told I would have a box delivered by Labor Day. I reached out THREE times since then, first it was an "inventory issue" and I was told they were putting together a box for me. One month later I reached out again and they "weren't sure what happened with scheduling" but were "confirming" a box was being sent and shipped out that week. This was in early October. It is now 3 months later and I have not received a box, nor have I received any communication from them regarding what has happened. This company is a joke, do not waste your time. read more

I did not have a good experience. I ordered a bento box online. I've ordered from other online services like Stitch Fix and I know how to accurately describe my needs/wants/body type. I provided a detailed description of my needs and requesting hourglass-flattering cool toned clothing, which they have an abundance of in every size online. When I received my bento box, I thought it was a mistake at first. Every single item was warm toned and boxy in the waist. It was clear that no one read a single I wrote or looked at my answers to the bento survey. I reached out to the company asking why this happened and I received no response. This company has a good marketing strategy, but their largely cheap-fabric clothes aren't worth the price and their service is shameful. read more

MM La Fleur is one of my favorite online retailers -- it's an aspirational price point for me, but the clothes are beautiful and great quality. Before I visited the DC store, I purchased two dresses (one during a very rare clearance sale, one not) online. I was looking for one of their amazing jardigans, but left with that AND a dress and a pair of pants. The service was wonderful (prosecco! water), and the stylist brought me a lot of options that I wouldn't have even considered -- including both the dress and the pants that I purchased. I explored the bento box and enjoyed the experience unfortunately all the pieces weren't exactly my cup of tea, but it gave me strong insight into the tailoring and detail shown in event the simplest blue dress... I wanted to know more. I attended a pre-reserved stylist appt yesterday in the DC showroom and had a wonderful experience. I spent an hour trying on all the pieces I had specified were to my taste and a few other surprises my stylist chose for me. We designed a wish list and over the next few months I plan to add a few of there pieces to help build a staple uniform for work attire. They are well made clothes. I am so excited to have MM LaFleur in DC. This is the only way to shop. You make an appointment with your personal stylist (mine is Ashley) and she/he collects information in advance to pull a selection of clothes for you to try. You're greeted with an offering of espresso, tea, mimosa... and then the styling session begins. While you try on a selection of clothes your stylist listens to your fir and style preferences to help you find the pieces that you need. Many of the fabrics are machine washable and some are so comfortable you feel like you're wearing pajamas but you'll look like an executive. MM LaFleur has become my "go to" brand for my foundation professional wardrobe pieces. read more

My stylist was nice and pulled some nice things for me. The experience of trying stuff on was fine, and the prosecco was a nice touch. The sizing was all over the place for the items (some things I was a ten and some a four), which took a while to figure out. They didn't have the colours of the items I wanted. The stylist found one for me in another store and ordered it for me from there, but there was a mixup with the shipping address and I had to spend a while sorting that out over email. And today a few of my items arrived in the mail and they were wrinkly. Since they cost a lot of money I really did not expect that. The clothes themselves seem nice but I don't want to have to iron clothes I just bought! It's a bummer. read more

I have been seeing lots of Facebook ads for this company and heard great things from friends and made an appointment. When I arrived my stylist was fully prepared with a rack of hand-picked clothes. Overall, the clothes were nice, but not what I was looking for. Many of the styles that I was interested in were not in stock for me to try on which was frustrating. Its a great concept, but would be good to have a wider inventory in store and to have a wider section of colors. The sales associate was totally low-pressure and it was easy to say "sorry, but none of these work for me" so even though it wasn't a good fit for me, there is nothing to lose to try it for yourself. read more

I love the clothes but the service at this location is not great. Stood outside the door for a while trying to get the woman inside, who was on a laptop wearing headphones, to unlock it for me. Explained I didn't have an appointment but just wanted to look around. After basically telling me not to even bother, she let me browse. The store was completely empty (of customers and clothes). There was another employee in the back who came out long enough to glance at me without saying anything and disappear into the back. I get requiring an appointment but really, there was no other customer there and you couldn't provide me with enough service to pull some clothes in the back? Might want to rethink who you're hiring to sit in front. I'll just order online from now on - Won't be back. read more

I was eagerly anticipating MM's DC showroom opening - and it did not disappoint. The whole experience was relaxing yet efficient. The space is lovely - airy and inviting - and the hospitality is exceptional. My stylist, Michaella, listened and came up with great suggestions. She even let me borrow her shoes at one point to get a better idea of how the cropped pants looked (my Docs and woolly socks weren't exactly the height of chic). MM's clothes are beautifully made and well styled. I was also very pleased to learn how seriously the company takes working conditions, both in the US and overseas. I was surprised to learn that stylists know where each garment is manufactured; they even know the names of the Brooklyn-based factories that manufacture some of the garments. And their styling process saves tons of time and lots of frustration. I love this company!!!! read more

I'm a pretty standard size 8, 34D and hourglass. 95% of the dresses were not designed for people like me, but rather straight, small boobs, no hips types. I had to go up to a 12 just to zip the dresses over my boobs (plus side pockets, pleats, and square hips are not good on small waisted, big hip girls). I loved the concept but only one dress even remotely looked good from their entire collection. The girl helping was mediocre and the dressing room was not a room but a corner with drapes that don't close all the way. I gave it a 3 because if you fit their parameters this place could be great. read more

The way this store works is that you make an appointment online with a personal shopper. There is a short questionnaire online asking about your jeans size, bra size, dress size, and a few other things. (I have no idea why they ask about your jeans size since they do not sell jeans and that is almost completely useless when trying to find trousers.) Then when you go to the store, the stylist will ask you a few more questions and pull some things for you, and you start trying on. They only have clothes to try for style and fit--after you decide what you want you provide your address and credit card to have it shipped to you. While I'd say this is a slightly better shopping experience than a mall department store because you don't have to dig through the racks and a giant stack of shirts for your size, the personal shopper was not any better, and frankly slightly worse, than I am at finding the appropriate clothing style and size for myself. After trying on 2 pairs of pants, I could tell that there was not a single pair of pants in that store that would work for me because they all seemed to have the same type of waist. Basically, they all had pockets and fastened with a button and hook on the side, and they all looked horrible on me because the pockets poked out. Why do the pockets poke out? Because the pants are too big for me in the waist, but a smaller size would be too small for my hips. The website describes this as "an ingenious tab closure lets the waistband rest smoothly on your hips without any bulk or bunching," but that was not my experience. Also, a few pairs of pants had front pleats around the waist, which tend to poof out and make you look like you have a big stomach. Since my primary reason for making the appointment was to find some work trousers, this was very disappointing. The shopper also gave me a lot of dresses to try on, for which I had the same problem I have with most dresses. I am a 38 DD, but I am not a plus size woman. This means that most fitted dresses will pull across my chest if they fit me everywhere else. It also means v-neck dresses will not lie flat so you can see completely down the front of the dress even if I am standing up straight. The shopper did not bring me any skirts and tops until I suggested it to her, which is usually what I wear instead of dresses because I can't find anything that fits my chest. This is not an uncommon problem for women with large chests so I found it odd that it didn't occur to her. I think the quality of the clothing is slightly better than Banana Republic or Ann Taylor, and it's about the same price points. Although I didn't find what I was looking for, I did find some shirts and a skirt. I certainly appreciate not having to stand in line or be asked 5 times if I want to sign up for X credit card to save 10%. So I will shop there again. I want to give this place 5 stars because I love the concept, but the clothing just isn't 5 stars, especially since it is marketed as being appropriate for the workplace and designed to fit "real women." Like every other clothing store, if you are a B-cup and a size 6, you'll have lots of options. If you aren't, you won't. read more

Maybe I have higher expectations- I'm used to Nordstrom's... my friend and I went and the sales girl brought the wrong styles or sizes and we had to ask twice. She ordered the wrong size for one thing and the wrong color on another I ordered. The quality was ok- not amazing. Its also a bit of a particular style and limited peices- so you have to like the modern take they have- which truthfully isn't my style per se. Also there were a pair of pants I was considering that I asked about tailoring. The sales girl pointed out they have long hems so easier to tailor but no they didn't have one onsite that could do that before they ship the clothes to you. Well thanks but I'm a busy working mom so by the time I get them to a tailor on my own it will be months. Nordstrom tailors onsite and will ship to you- thats service. Overall- good concept but limited selection and sales grils needs better training. read more

Really uneven experience. I'm happy enough with the good that I want to praise it, but also want to flag some concerns that others may want to know. PROS: Stylist Bianca was terrific. Friendly, low-pressure, EXTREMELY responsive to feedback, very knowledgeable about the clothes. Really appreciated her. Found several items that I am delighted with. A basic black dress that will work well in the office, very nice trim pants, a crepe sleeveless top, and a wonderful gray sweater that feels like a hug. CONS: At least 50% of the items I tried on felt physically uncomfortable -- the fabric felt thin, cheap and weirdly artificial. I own other clothes that are synthetic, so it's not that I won't wear synthetics, but they were just really unpleasant to the touch. Another 20% of clothes felt fine, but not $300 dress level of fine. And the final 30% were gorgeous -- wool, cashmere, but also some artificial fibers that for whatever reason were dramatically more comfortable, thicker, and more attractive both on the rack and on the person. Not surprisingly, the clothes in this last category are the ones I ended up buying. I'm sort of boggled that such a high-level company would sell so many pieces that look pretty but don't FEEL good. I was also pretty surprised that so many of the clothes are unlined. If I were buying a $40 pair of pants at TJ Maxx I wouldn't expect that, but for $200 pants? Or a $300 dress? I have plenty of $90 Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein dresses that have linings. Also, I'm slightly busty but not very -- and yet two of the dresses I tried on were too low-cut for the office! I was really surprised, as neither of them looked especially daring on the rack. (I think one was called the Rachel.) I don't know whether it's just my body shape or the DC office culture, but I couldn't see sitting in a policy meeting and feeling appropriately dressed in these. It was a weird and laborious check-out process. I felt bad for the stylist -- first off, why are they making her be not just a cashier but a data-entry person? Second, why don't they have proper point-of-sale technology? Every other coffee shop has an iPad these days that can ring you up effortlessly. Instead she was hunched over a laptop on a couch (heaven forbid they have anything as practical as a desk in this fancy showroom) manually inputting all of my details TWICE (because I had some items shipped to me and bought one right then and there, and apparently they had to be rung up separately). I did not get to see a price total nor was I asked to sign for my purchase, which seemed odd. I had to ask about getting a receipt and then was told it was e-mailed. I checked my e-mail and I did indeed receive it -- but I was charged sales tax on the DC item and not on the ones shipped to another state. I don't mind if there are legal reasons that the company has to do this, but again -- TELL me before you swipe my card. NO OPINION: Space is reasonably convenient to downtown offices and reasonably well set up. Lots of white walls, minimalist decor, etc. They offered water, tea, prosecco. Not my style to drink and shop but the other customers seemed to love it. OVERALL: For a company that supposedly has $30 million in annual revenue, they seem to be cutting corners on both staffing and material quality in a way that I did not expect based on their ultra-polished, high-end website and image. Still, I'm happy with the merchandise I bought and hope it will wear well for years. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Sarah, who was down from the NY location for opening week in D.C. Very excited that MM.Lafleur has opened a showroom here in DC! I had wonderful experiences at the DC Pop-Ups and visiting the New York showroom, but this new showroom is a step above! It is bright and airy and the clothes trying on process is so pleasant and enjoyable. The quality, cut, and style of each piece is perfect for those looking for great workwear staples with that something extra. My stylist selected a number of pieces for me to try on in the very spacious dressing room. She knew in advance what items I already owned and what styles I was interested in, so no time was wasted. I brought a friend with me and they set her up in the changing room next door and were able to pull a number of outfits for her as well. Though I don't enjoy shopping, a friend told me about the great experience she had with her personal shopper at MM's brick and mortar store in DC, so I made an appt online and went in later that day. My consultant was fantastic - calm, friendly, and knowledgable. Didn't push me into anything, listened to what I wanted, and outfitted me in some great clothes for my new job. I usually have a really difficult time shopping for work-appropriate clothes, and I had a wonderful experience shopping at MM LaFleur. Emily was my stylist, and she was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about options, and gave helpful feedback about pairing different pieces together (not my strong suit). As I am early in my career and the clothes are a bit out of my price range, I ended up not buying anything right after the appointment, but Emily was kind enough to send me a list of my favorite items with their sizes so that I could instead purchase pieces over time as I save up a little. I've been a fan of MM.LaFleur for a few years, and I am so happy the DC showroom opened. I'm not a likely fan of a clothing brand. I really dislike shopping, and when I showed up for my appointment earlier this week I was having a tough day. I was a overwhelmed by needing outfits for events where I had a lot of other prep to do and also not feeling great about how I looked. I'm sure I wasn't the most fun customer. My appointment was with Ashley, and she's amazing! She pulled a lot of things I requested and made suggestions, too. She introduced me a few different ways of pairing pieces and silhouettes I never would have thought of--and they were almost all great. There were a few pieces I ordered where I didn't get a chance to try on the exact style in my size, but I trusted Ashley and I'm so glad I did. I received my clothes today and she was right about all of it.
