My friend wanted to give this place a try as she heard great things about this place from her coworker. We drove from sac to Lodi just to try it. Not too far of a drive so that is not an issue :) We got there before they were opened so we walked around the area. At 4:55, there was a line already. We got seated pretty quickly. The interior is very nice but quite small. They play current music but it was too loud like you are in a bar or club. Too loud to carry a conversation. My friend and I had to talk louder or leaned in closer to hear each other. Well, this place do have a bar but still, I think it will be better if they lower the volume just a bit for those people trying to enjoy their food and talk to one another. My friend and I ordered 3 different dishes to try. Stir fried chicken udon, The M roll and Flaming Dragon. All were very good. The chicken udon has a kick of spice in it. I can't really eat spicy too much so I had to intake a lot of water haha but it was good. The waitresses and waiters here are very nice and always smiling. Very attentive. My cup of water has always been filled without asking for it. That is always a good sign. Overall, this place is good. Prices are alright. It was actually my first time eating sushi over $15. The M roll is $25. I will probably go back but only if I'm in the area. read more

The best sushi in Lodi. I am only leaving 3 stars instead of 5 because of the service. Everything was great during our girls dinner but after 60 minutes we were interrupted and told we needed to vacate the table. I completely understand table limits but 60 minutes is ridiculous. Especially since we head four people with drinks and food plus an additional to go order. I guess spending that amount of money doesn't buy you more table time. Drove from Stockton to get sushi at M Sushi Bistro and ordered for pick up on the way. The location is at the heart of downtown Lodi. From staff to the taste of their food, hands down one of the best! We ordered the Peyton, Crunch and Munch roll, Chef's choice of sashimi and nigiri sushi, which both came with a side of salad and miso soup. All tasted delicious and fresh! I appreciate the plating and how presentable it looks even when it's in a to-go box (see photo attached). Very small sushi shop, but still a good amount of space outside for dining. First time here at M Sushi Bistro arrived Saturday evening September 11th 7:24PM. This is a Walk-in, No Online Reservations Found. At the entrance people standing outside waiting for seating. We passed them up and went inside to get our name on the clipboard. Once inside the restaurant (a full house all tables filled) and at the Host stand the Host was just getting back to to assist us, he said it will be a 30 minute wait, and asked for my cell number, no problem. After a 25 minute wait the Host walked over to us to let us know we were to be seated. We were seated at the first two (2) top on the row. Once seated and ten (10) Minutes later the water came and 5 minutes after the water. Our Server, (Joe) rushed over apologizing for the tardiness, I see it's a lively and busy place. He asked us if we were ready to order. I ordered for both of us: Two (2) Weibel Sparkling Peach Mango Champagnes. I'm having the SalmonTeriyaki Combo Plate w/ Sashimi and my wife the Delux Sashimi Moriawase please, off he went. Server brought to table Very Chilled Champaign, Excellent Taste! Soon the soup came, delicious. Small Salad showed up. No Silverware yet. After getting the servers attention he then brought the dining set. Salad taste was (room temperature) Very Delicious . Our Entrées arrived. "Another Champagne Please". Everything that was Cooked and/or Raw was extremely Fresh and Tasty. Lots of food, No Skimping! Second Champagne arrived at table just as the first one.... Perfectly Chilled! Server came around to pickup Plates I ordered dessert: Deep Fried Cheesecake with (Vanilla) Ice Cream please. One of our new go-go places! I always get the chicken teriyaki bento box with the California roll. The miso soup that it comes with is realllly good! Salad dressing is good, chicken is always a good texture and nicely trimmed/not chewy. I'm picky when it comes to chicken. California roll is always perfectly made. They are taking reservations for no more than 4 people right now due to Covid19 restrictions. We met friends here and the restaurant was accommodating in sitting us in the same area but still socially distant at separate tables. Excellent drinks, excellent service, excellent food. We started with the mixed tempura and brussel sprouts, the best tempura I've ever had as it stayed crunchy throughout our grazing and chatting. The Brussels are FIRE! We shared the M roll, my favorite. Dragon roll and the Killer Bri roll, fried. I'd skip the Killer Bri roll next time. Food: Our group ordered 3 ramen. It looked good and had a big piece of chicken in it. Feelings were mixed between okay and good. We ordered the Preggo, flaming dragon, snow white, lone tiger, pink orchid rolls. All the rolls were of good size and tasted good. I prefer nigir, but the roll that stood out for me was the pink orchid; 5/5 for sure. To Go: 2 Bento box and 1 ramen. Was disappointed with the bento boxes. For $19 it was underwhelming. Dessert: We ordered 3 cheese cake to share. It was a good, sharable size. Taste wise, it was okay. The rocky road made me crave rocky road ice cream. We brought a cake, but was told they could not cut it for us. They did hold it for us. Dine in with taxes and service charge $290. Takeout with taxes and service charge $70. This dish was very simple but so good! 5/5 - Pan-fried Seafood Udon: udon with enoki mushrooms, scallops, shrimp, and mussels in spicy creamy sauce. This was delicious! It had the perfect amount of spiciness. 5/5 - Chicken Katsu & Tempura Combo: comes with miso soup, salad, and rice. The chicken was a little on the dry side. The portion looked small but it was pretty filling. They forgot to give me tempura sauce and the miso soup. The miso soup was lukewarm. 3.5/5 - Lone Tiger Roll: [crab salad and panko shrimp] unagi, serrano peppers topped with sauce, tempura flakes, green onions, and masago. Pretty good roll. It has all my favorite cooked ingredients in one. 4.5/5 SERVICE: Service was friendly but very slow. But, they're a new establishment and they're still learning and probably understaffed. We had reservations at 8. But we got there early, at 7:35. It was packed so we knew we were going to have to wait. We got seated at 8:35. Our food didn't make it to the table until 9:30. 3/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would definitely come back. The food was good. And hopefully time management will be better. read more

It was a Saturday afternoon better than half packed, getting a table and placing our order and the time it took to arrive at our table took a little time, that gave me a little concern. The seating area is small and plain but I think if they continue to business that will improve. The food menu was expanse but easy to maneuver great pictures of the dishes. We had the M tool, crunch munch, inferno char grilled squid and a salmon skin hand roll. All were very good. I like my grilled squid and this was on par with some of the best I have had. The presentation of the food was on par with fusion style dishes loved it. Our check was 100+ no drinks, two adults, it is a bit pricey, in 1995 I dined a pan Asian American fusion restaurant in Bainbridge Washington state 7 course $400 for 4 adults just saying. Very good, authentically prepared sushi that was presented artfully. I had the sashimi lunch which came with miso soup and a small salad. They were both very good and I enjoyed the delicate miso flavor of the soup. The sashimi was huge and came with yellow tail, tuna, butterfish, mackerel, snapper, fluke, shrimp and salmon. It also came with pickled real wasabi which added a lovely flavor component. All of the fish was super fresh and since we sat at the bar we were able to watch the chef prepare everything.
