I came here for the first time a few weeks ago on a Thursday, on a recommendation, and they did not disappoint! I got there around 6pm, the place was jammin'. The staff were very nice and welcoming. They have a good sized menu, not to big, not overwhelming. I had the tonkatsu, veggie tempura combo. They offer big portions, almost felt like I was at a Hawaiian restaurant! Everything tasted great and fresh. The tonkatsu was cooked perfect, tender and juicy...didn't need the tonkatsu sauce...the tempura was perfect as well. All in all a great first impression. The food is great, and I've always enjoyed it. It seems always crowded, and the staff hurried or harried, but they get it done. My issue is that on my last visit I asked for some Shichimi Chili Powder. It's a very common condiment. A little sprinkle ads a lot of flavor. They brought me a dish of it, far more than anyone would use for dinner. I used a little, enjoyed my food, paid the bill and left. Later that night, I looked at the bill and noticed that they had charged me $2 for it! I've been eating Japanese food for over 40 years and have never been charge like that. It woud be similar to being charged for soy sauce or salt. Had I known they were going to charge me, I'd have asked to take it home. I called them but they were closed. I emailed and they didn't respond. So, for that, I can't recommend them. read more

First off, I want to appreciate the online menu for providing images of the food when you click the name of the item! It really helps with deciding what to order. I've been here a handful of times now, and M sushi does not disappoint!! Everything is always so delicious! We ordered the spicy garlic edamame - the sauce was so buttery and yummy! I want more just thinking about it! Spicy Hamachi Crudo was so fresh and the fried leeks and Serrano peppers worked so well with the Hamachi! Chirashi bowl had nicely sized slices of Sashmi which is honestly my favorite part of the dinner. So fresh and just melts in your mouth. To Die for Roll was tasty and I really liked the fried little bits on the roll. It was a nice surprise with the subtle crunch. The panfried seafood udon dish is sooo delicious! Another favorite of mine! The Funaguchi Sake is tiny but mighty! My favorite sake to drink because it's sweet and easy to drink! Also, the service is great! They are pretty busy but we didn't have to wait too long our food. There was always someone available to make sure we had everything we needed and everyone was kind doing so. Entering from the front of the restaurant to the back can get crowded, so walking through the aisle to get to our table was a bit awkward. We had to pass closely through tables with other people trying to enjoy their dinner. So I do wish the layout was a bit more spacious to give people a more comfortable bubble. Amazing from start to finish! A large selection of great beers, wine, and sake. That's always hard to nail at any restaurant. All dishes were so flavorful and the presentation was so artistic. Sashimi was fresh and the rolls were huge. They have a large menu with a variety of cold and hot dishes to satisfy everyone's needs. This place is pricey($$$). The sushi is good and it's well-thought-out and well prepared.. Unfortunately the specialty sushi all tastes around the same not too much difference in the flavor profile so if you bought one sushi roll you bought them all.. My only concern for this place is that the value in dollars doesn't equate to the quality of food . In other words the food is more expensive for what you get in value. That being said it's probably the best sushi joint in Lodi. The 2nd problem is this place gets busy. And they're not good at separating orders so you may get a more expensive bill if you're trying to do something like when you're splitting the tab with other friends or groups of people. So I'd advise that you go there with a SMALL group people or else you may get a pretty expensive, and the order may have not been the food that you purchased. Considering the size of our group which is about 8 people, they did a pretty good job of service. So yes I recommend going there but just expect to pay A little bit more for your bill they are pricy. read more

During my visit to see my Uncle he took me to this cute little town of Lodi to have Sushi. It was nothing short of amazing. Service was great & the food was even better. The sushi was very fresh. We started with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts followed by the Serranos Albacore, Steak Tataki, Hachi Crudo and the M Roll. It was a party in my mouth. The presentation was like eye candy. The wait staff was polite, efficient and courteous. The food was excellent and tasty. Unfortunately, my digestion no longer allows me to enjoy sushi and we were only there for appetizers anyway.
