Mac City is the whole package: diverse, extremely unique menu that tastes amazing with super friendly staff (only way it could be better is if everything was 0 calories). I brought the Buffalo chix, original, and chix tikka masala macs to a friends and it was a huge hit! Perfect ratio of cheese, noodles and toppings with tons of flavor, and the prices are quite reasonable for the portions. Will definitely be back!

I was hyped about trying Mac City. At the end of my experience, the final verdict is: not thrilled. I got food delivered, so my review is solely based on the food. My friend and I got a main dish each and two appetizers to split. He ordered the "steak and cheese" mac and cheese. Let's put it this way, it was cheese with a little bit of mac. I read reviews prior to ordering of there being way too much cheese in the mac and cheese and I laughed and thought how? There had to be a good pound of cheese alone. My friend will probably be constipated for 2 weeks after that one. Moving onto my dish, I got a $14 "lobster" mac and cheese naan. Maybe this is just a preference but comparing the style of my mac and cheese to my friends, it was night and day. I was looking forward to a creamy Mac and cheese. This was mac sprinkled with cheese and put in the oven for 2 minutes. The naan did not taste cooked at all and there wasn't enough lobster on it for me to even consider paying $14 for it. Would not take the drive/pay someone to deliver from here again.

Pretty darn good. DIned in during the weekday and it was totally dead. For that reason service was quick. Its not fancy, but good for a casual lunch. You eat out of the containers with a placemat, plastic silverware and a chocolate for dessert. I had the carbonara mac and it was quite good - wish the bacon could have been a tad more crunchy and it would have been perfect. The indivudual size is more than enough for one hungry person. Seriously unless you have the munchies of a lifetime, you'll be more than all set with an indivudual. A medium one would be perfect for a small family. The sauce is rich and ingredients are good, but I've def had better mac n cheese. The pizza actually looked fabulous and I'm sad didn't take one home but I was only able to finish half of mine. He had a cheeseburger one and had the same take - very good and unexpected for this kinds identity crisis pizza place, but we've had better. The place itself is very clean, updated and modern and honestly the dining area has many tables so I encourage coming to sit down here if you can.

There are SO many choices, if you can't find something you like on the menu there may very well be something wrong with you. We got the Buffalo Chicken Fried Mac and Cheese Balls, the Taco Mac and Cheese, and the Original. Its ALL so good. I'm glad I took the detour on the way home home from Southwick's Zoo. The people who work here are really nice.

I came in looking for something casual to sit down in as I was eating alone. I got the carbonara mac, sooooo good! Definitely going to be coming back here! Even though it is a small place, they bring the food to your table and check on you often. Great place! read more

This place for being a mainly macaroni and cheese serving restraunt, was not the best it had an OK Hawaiian Mac but the food was mediocre. The food was in an extremely large portion, so big that no one in our party could even finish half the amount on their plates! My family will personally never go back to this restaurant because their are plenty of other better restaurants within the area read more

This place never lets me down! Today for lunch, I ordered a small MVP pizza, which is a Mac and Cheese pizza with creamy white sauce and bacon. The cashier gave me the pizza with a complementary Hershey's chocolate kiss. If you haven't gotten a chance to visit this place, please do so! I highly recommend this place! We did take out and it was awesome. We split a large double cheese mac and cheese and I had a cheese steak which was very good and I have eaten more cheese steaks then most (I am from Philly). I will definitely be going back for more of their delicious food. 5 STARS! read more

Usually very satisfied, but today someone was not on their game. I ordered a BBQ Mac cheese w/ chicken. Got home and started eating. I could not figure out why it was so spicy and it didn't look the same. Usually it is not spicy hot. Finally figured out they used pre-made Buffalo Mac cheese and just put BBQ sauce on top! I guess it's time to start checking before leaving restaurant! Disappointed today in MacCity. read more

Been 4-5 times. Much better than last owners. Nice people , friendly and place is clean. Little slow but means that they make it fresh. Mac & Cheese is really good. Buffalo M&C good too. Chicken fingers are really good and Ruben sandwich is good too. Happy they are taking a shot and hope they stay. Still love Mega Bites but these guys might be the answer read more

The food was good but the service is poor. I went there for breakfast. When the waitress brought my food I requested butter, but the waitress never brought it over. With my bad knee, I had to get up and request it at the counter. The waitress never came over to check to see if everything was okay, and never offered us a refill on coffee. The waitstaff doesn't check on the customers or the dinning room. It is November and we sat next to the door it was constantly open. Again (with my bad knee), I had to get up and close the door so that I and other people could stay warm. It wasn't that busy at all and I don't know who was managing the place. It was my first time there and most likely my last time there. read more

This olace was absolutly disgusting. I chose to take a chance and order very simple salad and chicken wrap and chicken was not edible. Tasted fowl. Took one bite and spit it out. Brought it back for a refund and they refused to refund my money. I want to urge people not to spend your money on an estsblishment that doesn't wsnt to correct the problem and offer a solution to make customer satisfyed. Don't easte your time and money here. read more

I was compelled to write my first yelp review after this hugely disappointing experience. I spent thirty dollars on an extra large lobster mac and cheese. When I started to eat it, I could not find any lobster "chunks" that they advertised on their menu. These people are so cheap, that the scant lobster I did find was just nasty rubbery claw tips and LEG MEAT. They banged out leg meat to pass as lobster chunks! I was naive to assume that paying THIRTY DOLLARS for a pie size entree would get me discernable pieces of lobster meat. Now I wasn't expecting tails or anything crazy, just chunks like I get at Chelo's (at a lower price, by the way). My dad and I were starving and hoping to find more lobster, so we ended up eating a third of it. When we realized we were ripped off we went back to return it/get a refund and they refused. They insisted there was six ounces of lobster in it which is a blatant lie. What a horrible experience. read more

Ok the owners are the nicest people you can speak to. Super friendly to my kids offering them Reese cups and even water for my dog outside. We love walking in franklin and this is now a great place to stop. Please give it a try you won't regret it. read more

Don't normally leave bad reviews on Yelp but couldn't bare not doing so here. Have been to "Mac Deli" in the past over a year ago for a quick bite and loved it, but since the new ownership took over its become a dive. Staff also unhelpful and rude. I ordered a Mac and cheese plate last month and was disappointed..but figured maybe they were still working the kinks out so o tried it again 2 weeks later with a sandwich and it was soggy, Luke warm..as if it were microwaved :-( Wish I would give it another go and try it again but the food was actually that bad that I don't think I could. I'll stick to Kraft Mac&Cheese. read more

Waaaasaaay too much cheese. And I'm not sure if they start with a roux and make a cheese sauce or not, it seems like they just dumped a bunch of shredded cheese on cooked macaroni. Then baked in the oven with more cheese on top.So instead of a nice creamy sauce it was just a bunch of melted stringy cheese. I ate here when it was Mac Deli and it was the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had. Too greasy(the cheese separated) too heavy and just overall disgusting. I love homemade mac and cheese... But they missed the mark here. BBC down the street makes it better by a mile. read more

Fried mac and cheese balls are awesome. Also the regular mac and cheese with extra cheese tastes just like Mom used to make. sandwiches are very very good and it's nice to have home delivery. Mac city is our new favorite local spot. One possible update to their website. More options on the shakes. Example, flavors of ice cream spelled out, toppings, etc. read more

The food is fine. The turn off for me is hearing the way three employees were speaking about the police officer in the parking lot across the street doing his job. Happened once before during the summer while my girlfriend and I were there having a bite for lunch. I will never be back. read more

we tried this place twice since the new owners took over. both times it was disgusting. the rueben from the original was awesome . now it's a greasy slop mess. the Italian was so gross that couldn't be eaten either. never again will we go there. it's like prison slop food. ick read more

Specialties

My interest for cooking (and eating!) came when I was very young. I was always making a mess in the kitchen (and horrifying my mother), attempting to cook a new and tasty meal. Some ideas were great, while others are better left off the menu (Frosted Flakes in eggs with chocolate sauce sounds great to a 6 year old). But Mac & Cheese was, and still is, one of my favourite meals to eat. I never knew Mac & Cheese could be made so many ways, until I decided to start adding ingredients like bacon, steak, and vegetables. So when the opportunity came to open my own restaurant, where I can sell all the different kinds of Mac & Cheese I wanted, I jumped on it.

There was a lone tv in the corner of the bar playing the NCAA women's lacrosse national championship which was a welcome change of pace from the showings at most sports bars. The bartender was very friendly and very quick to mix drinks. The downside is that they DO NOT serve any alcohol they don't make so the mimosas were out but we did find a cocktail we enjoyed with gin, lavender, honey and lemon. The Bloody Mary had great accompaniments but the tomato mix was a little lackluster. The food was well prepared. The huevos rancheros had a good variety of ingredients and the flavors were perfect together. The tortilla underneath was a bit difficult to cut through but once it got a little soggy from the egg yolk and beans it was easier to break up. The sunrise bowl was the perfect amount of veggies. Purple potatoes were a nice surprise along with a vast array of things like broccoli and zucchini. The Benedict with crab cakes was moist and had plenty of crab! It's a bit heavy so go for it if you're really hungry otherwise you probably can take it home. Food prices were reasonable for the portions given and the quality. Drinks are creative and well made but remember you're not getting mimosas at this joint!

While I did greatly appreciate that they use ceramic mugs instead of paper if you choose, I was disappointed in how it almost cost $10 for a nondairy latte. The second time I went I ordered a chai latte and found out they use the mix instead of making it from chai tea. Disappointing from a place that demands premium pricing. I ordered a chai tea instead and the water was so hot I had to order ice. I was with a little kid who also got a chai and disappointed they didn't offer that to him and instead gave me what I consider scalding hot water in a cup with a tea bag. Staff was friendly. I went to Unlikely Story in Plainville and got a chai latte made from real tea with almond milk under $6 last week. So again the prices at this Bakery are premium. I am willing to pay for premium if that is what I am getting and while the first time I got a latte it was tasty but I still am disappointed at the price point. The second time I went I sat at the bar in front of the espresso machine and was grossed out at how dusty the top of the machine is... because they have their to-stay mugs upside down on top of it. There was a layer of dust and there were dust bunnies hanging off it in my direction. There was a bit of dried splattered milk on it too. Basically, they need to clean that and it was not the type of dust that was just there for a week. Got a scone that I wasn't sure was either day old or overcooked either way I needed a sip of tea to get it down and I did not finish it because it just wasn't that great. Pretty sure the scone was over $5. While I want so badly to support a small business like theirs I don't think I will be back until I know they clean the machine more frequently.

I'm not sure why you would give this place a poor review. Their food has never disappointed. Love the fact that they have chicken masala pizza and it's excellent. Mac and cheese is amazing. Chicken tenders are unreal they are so good, I've never gotten a chicken tenders that was so real of that makes sense. And to top it off they throw in a handful of Halloween candy with every order which always makes me laugh. Just a little thing that makes such a cute personal touch. We order here regularly. Can't wait to try more. How can you hate mac and cheese delivery? And you can get a large enough size to feed close to 15 people. read more

Let me start off by saying this is the best mac around! The owner is "dedicated to his craft"! The varieties are amazing and cater to every taste. Mac City had to close for several months during the pandemic - owner took the time off to refine his menu and develop a takeout option (involving vacuum sealing and CO2 injection) to keep things fresh for at least 10 days. You want to heat it in the microwave for a chewy experience or oven for crispy? The containers are safe for both (and recyclable)! Absolutely delicious!! We tried the cowboy sandwich, the chicken tikka Mac and cheese and the bbq pulled pork Mac. All three were phenomenal, my boyfriend loved the sandwich, the fries were fresh and crispy! All the ingredients were quality and the the chicken tikka masala Mac was out of this world. Everything has a huge depth of flavor and attention to details such as the crispy cheese top on the macs. The owners are super friendly, kind, and attentive. Mac city is my boyfriends obsession. You'd think it's because he's crazy for Mac n cheese, but it's actually their steak and cheese sub he's addicted to! He could eat it everyday, and begs for us to get it at least once a week. Luckily for me everything else on their menu is amazing. Every time I order I get something new and am never disappointed!! Even their French fries are some of the best fries I've ever had. Needed a change of pace for family dinner and found this gem! Small business, very friendly, GREAT, flavorful, fresh food! Getting a salad from any restaurant is hard nowadays because COVID has impacted so many food suppliers. I had the Cobb salad and it was CRISPY! The avocado was perfect. Just finished our first delivery from Mac City, Franklin. Mac and Cheese reminds of my mom's, 60 years ago!!!. This is the only place I have found that makes a REAL sandwich. I mean on bread, not a bulkie, not a sub roll, but REAL bread. Turkey, Ham, Roast Beef and Swiss on Marble Rye - Very Very good. If you get a sandwich on large sub roll, you better be really hungry, because it is HUGE. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Please go there so they stay in business! read more

Great food! I was hesitant to try the place since I don't like typical mac and cheese (at least that's what I used to think), but once I tried Mac City I was hooked! The different kinds are so delicious. I love the Mac Daddy, Cajun & Steak & Cheese. I sometimes wish there was a little bit more meat but nonetheless the food is still tasty. Even the pizza is yummy!
