The sweet, smoky flavor, mustardy goodness isn't something I've found done as well anywhere else. And the fish itself was cooked perfectly. They paired the fish with the heartiness of the harvest grain side dish you see pictured. It was a huge serving, and I ate the whole thing because it was amaaaazing. My waitress was lovely and efficient, and I also didn't feel rushed. What made it a four star experience rather than 5 stars for me was the ambiance. The music was horrible--like 1980's big hair band type music. It was such a bizarre contrast to the rest of the upscale ambiance, which looked & felt more like a steakhouse. To my chagrin, it wasn't just one "off" song either...the awful selections kept coming throughout the meal. The music gave it more of a dive bar vibe, and it was so completely offputting that I left sooner than I otherwise would have. It honestly gives me pause when I think about coming again. And that's a real shame because I'd like to bring others here to share the amazing eats. I may try it again on another day. But if the music is the same, I'll be walking right back out the door.

Small but cozy eatery/drinkery in a residential neighborhood. No parking near the building, but…read morethere's an easy lot just around the corner. Lots of knock knacks on the walls, many related to beer and trains. Deep menu of comfort food made from scratch. Good draft beer list. -- Depot Burger: Their more ambitious of two regular menu burgers (they also have some as specials) was a visual treat in a pillowy Portuguese muffin. This provided a full size patty cooked to medium rare with juices trickling from the gentle, loosely packed beef. Full-coverage Vermont cheddar added silky richness, red onion jam added contrast, and tomato and arugula added vegetation. The star, at least visually, was the bacon: crisp, yet soft and bendable, with glorious color. Flavor was even better, with a deliciously strong cure. The whole package worked beautifully. One of the better burgers I've had this year for sure. -- Fries (a $2 add-on to the burger): A big stack, hand-cut (they also have hand-cut sweet potato fries), cooked just to the point of crispness while leaving a little droop and fluff. Nicely seasoned. -- Beer: I was thrilled to see a Hill Farmstead Double Nelson on the tap list. Smooth, strong, and delicious. -- Buffalo Wings: Looked and felt a little different, so I asked. Baked, then fried, yielding some charred crust on the outside and some tenderness within. Good wings, but with great sauces: the homemade Buffalo sauce had some serious kick, some complexity (little bits of unknown herbs), and some vinegar too. Homemade blue cheese thick and zesty. On Mondays, $1 each in batches of 6 or more, and with a guest flavor on top of their interesting fleet (ginger is next). -- Quahog: A well-rounded stuffed pile with bits of chorizo crispily mixed in, served with lemon wedge. It needed it for moisture, but a formidable offering that still satisfied. -- Caesar Salad: A large one with two well-layered hunks of Romaine, with a zippy (maybe mustard-infused) dressing and a dense coverage of crispy pancetta. Numerous homemade, dice-sized, well-seasoned croutons. No additional Parm and no anchovy pieces I could detect on their, but that dressing didn't let me down. A different kind of Caesar, but a very enjoyable one. -- Steak Tips: Had as an add-on to the salad, this provided a taste without committing to a full order. These don't make my steak tips pantheon (Champions, Tuckaway Tavern, New Bridge Cafe), but decent. Cooked a bit past the medium rare but still somewhat juicy. Nice flavor too, but subtle. I wouldn't get these again; too many better things on the menu. Service at the bar was cordial and attentive on both visits. Friendly staff all around. Not everything was perfect, but so much of it was (and no duds) that it's impossible not to drop a 5 based on the overall quality of every aspect.

My eggplant ciabatta was so yummy. Upcharge for side salads but it's worth it. Daily specials are a great add to the usual. It's a great find off the beaten path. Restaurant has a parking lot by the train tracks. Tented area is well heated and doubles the capacity of the place.

Absolute perfection after playground duty!…read more If you are looking for top-tier comfort food that feels like a warm hug, look no further. We made a quick stop at La Familia after spending the afternoon at Jane D'Amico Playground, and it was hands down the best decision we made. Everything about our visit was phenomenal: Food: I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce. My son got the chicken parm, and he hasn't stopped raving about it. It was, by far, the most comforting and delicious meal we've had in a long time. Hospitality: The staff here is unmatched. A special shout-out to the hostess, Noelle, who was absolute gold! She went above and beyond by bringing my son paper so he could draw while we waited. Speaking of waiting... the food came out super fast! Bonus: They do NOT play around with their bread portions. Big, fresh, WARM, and generous. You gotta love a place that knows the key to a happy heart is extra bread. We left feeling so grateful, full, and taken care of. La Familia is officially going to be our mandatory post-playground pit stop from now on.

It was too hot to go with the turkey so I decided to try a salad with grilled chicken . The salad was large and the chicken had a nice grill flavor but was really dry My nephew got the salmon meal (adult) and when we got it home and he opened it - it looked like a kids meal portion. He has gotten it before and liked it and said this time it was nowhere near the size of salmon he got last time. Not sure if it's a one off mistake or if they have changed the portion size Felt bad for him he had to heat up a cup of Mac and cheese because he was still hungry. Everyone else seemed to like what they got We did curbside and that was fine - someone even came out to let us know it would be a few more minutes which was nice

It was not at all busy when we arrived. Our drinks arrived in good time and all our meals arrived at the same time. I ordered the baked haddock. The fish cracker topping on the fish was overcooked and the edges of the fish stuck to the side of the dish. The fish itself was mostly edible, excluding the edges. I ordered the up-priced side asparagus. They do not cut the woody ends off the spears. Mashed potatoes are minimally seasoned. The restaurant is clean. Our waitress kept our waters filled. Parking is in a private lot around the building. Restrooms are near the kitchen in the middle of the building and are clean and updated.
