I'd highly recommend avoiding Mac Haik Ford - they fall squarely in the Shady and Unethical dealership camp. Quote was requested on a new F150 they had in stock for out of state buyer, negotiations completed, & final price was agreed upon. Once purchasing process started, they increased the price by $3,193 because the quote they provided was aligned to rebates in TX instead of the purchasing state. The dealership was informed on the first and several subsequent interactions that this was an out of state purchase. Rebate differences between states totaled $1k and the remaining $2,193 of their desired price increase was just to pad their margin. Negotiations restarted to solve the problem they created and a new, higher price was agreed upon. The purchase process resumed and the dealership applied a tax rate that was 2.143% higher than the correct out of state tax rate. Mac Haik Ford recommend proceeding with the purchase using the incorrectly inflated tax rate and then seeking a refund from the state. Four requests were made for the General Manager of Mac Haik Ford to review the repeated series of attempts to charge more than the agreed upon price & follow up with the customer - the General Manager never responded. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This was by far one of the most unprofessional dealership experiences I've ever dealt with. I was actively in the process of purchasing an Outer Banks Bronco from this dealership and was specifically told by Michelle and Emily that the deal was moving forward and because of that, I started preparing for delivery. I had already begun looking into shipping options, speaking with transport companies, and coordinating logistics on my end because I was repeatedly reassured the vehicle was secured for me, and Emily specifically told me that because I had started the paperwork/process, the vehicle was "mine." I even asked if a down payment was necessary, and she told me no because since I had already started the process, the vehicle was basically mine. Based on those statements, I moved forward believing the Bronco was secured. The next morning, I was suddenly told the vehicle had been sold to someone else even though I finished the paperwork from the night before. The excuse given was that it "wasn't communicated to other employees" that the Bronco was in the process of being sold. That level of disorganization and lack of communication is completely unacceptable, especially for a purchase this large. On top of that, many of the employees I dealt with seemed poorly informed, and simple questions were often met with "I'm not sure" instead of clear answers. It made me have the impression they are too incompetent to do their job. It made the entire experience even more frustrating and unprofessional. The entire situation wasted my time, created unnecessary stress, and showed a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. If a vehicle is still available to the public, customers should be clearly told that instead of being reassured it is "theirs." The apologies afterward felt more performative than sincere and the follow-up message I received afterward honestly felt more like damage control than a sincere attempt to make things right. Saying they'd be happy to help me find another Bronco "without taking up too much of my time" came across as dismissive considering how much time had already been wasted because of their mistakes. They also tried to sell me a significantly downgraded Bronco after everything that happened and acted like they could get "close to the number" we had discussed before, but it wasn't even remotely close. At that point, it just felt like a complete waste of my time. They would also give me specific times they said they would call me back, but I would end up having to call them myself (after of waiting for over an hour multiple times btw) because they never followed through. I would strongly caution future buyers to get EVERYTHING in writing and not rely on verbal assurances from this dealership. read more

I purchased a brand new Escape from this dealership yesterday. The process was easy, they did numbers over the phone, sent all numbers I asked for (including buy rate and holdbacks). Anyway I worked with Christian G. as my sales person and he was knowledable, chill, no pressure. The first day I left, BUT they kept working for me, and called me 2 days ago with a pretty great approval. Who knew Escapes were so cheap to insure??? Not me. I was pulling off the lot in my brand new car just under 2 hours since I arrived. They were VERY efficient. And the finance guy whose name I wish I remembered was the fastest finance guy I've ever seen. Took him 15 mins max. I'm THRILLED with my new car. Mac Haik Ford is the classic case of why many people refer to dealerships as stealerships. I purchased a Ford Mustang GT from Mack Haik Ford early in 2022 along with an extended warranty. Fast forward to October 2024, I sold the Mustang and later in early November I contacted Mac Haik about a refund on the remainder of the vehicle warranty. After several attempts to reach someone, unreturned voicemails, and no response to email follow ups, I was FINALLY able to get a response that I should see a refund check in 4 to 6 weeks... that never arrived. After additional attempts late December to reach someone, I was informed by a different person their previous finance person was no longer employed with them and they have a new person handling these types of requests so I should receive a refund check in early January... that never arrived. Working within the antiquated dealership structure is frustrating enough with all of the fees and charges they like to tack on but the post-sale unresponsiveness from Mack Haik in service to the very fees they are shilling to buyers is at another level entirely. My word of warning is to use caution before buying that extended warranty being pushed by their finance people, and as a bonus tip seek out external financing before going through their internal finance team to ensure you're getting the best interest rate available and not what they are willing to give you in order to pad their pockets. read more

Worse customer service I have received in a long time. We have bought 4 cars from Mak Haik and they are all about selling them to you but that is were it ends. I traded in a vehicle back in Oct and was told that I was due a refund for my extended warranty. I filled out he paperwork and that is where it has ended. You can't get anyone to answer the phone unless you are looking to buy a car. Dalton was the salesman on 3 of the vehicles and he was great but now he is a sales manager and cant get anything out of any of them. When we talked on the 7th of Aug he kept putting me off claiming he was busy. we talked about the truck selling at 78,000. I texted him twice and never recived anything back. Call the dealership back to speak with Christian. during the time we havent talked the price dropped to 75,000. When I called him he was very unprofessional with me. When I mentioned that the price dropped he told me that I agreed to the 78,000 which I didn't. then started talking very unprofessional basically yelling at me saying or you buying the truck or not. I've been taking my 2003 Escape to Mac Haik (Stanley) for over 20 years for servicing. This Escape runs well and with many original parts because I only used Mac for any major repairs and maintenance. Today, was kick to the curb because my vehicle is over 20 years old. Was told that the service manager decided to limit service to vehicles under 20. This is a recent change for service. Asked why the limit, I was told the manager didn't want to search for parts that are available but difficult to find. A 20+ year customer and I'm not wanted or worth the effort take care of my needs. I will be in the market for a replacement vehicle soon, not sure I will go to Mac. I took my Escape to another shop, they said no problem with searching for parts. BEWARE from an experience car purchaser! READ to save yourself from my experience! Extremely unhappy with this dealership. I Found them on CarGurus. Price was listed for vehicle at $27,095.00 on August 1st. Called spoke with salesman had everything ready to take my daughter (1st car) to close the deal. They came in with an additional $7,438.63 in fees for our CASH purchase on August 2nd. They told me CarGurus was " a third party website that doesn't work with us" and that car "already has a heavy discount as is" when asking about the price discrepancy. Funny thing is the price was changed on Car Gurus while I was on the phone with the salesman today! They lured me in with a great deal and pushed not only a higher price but also added on huge DEALER FEES. I urge you to save the headache and go to a dealership that does not resort to bait and switch tactics to get your business. I did inform them I would be filing with Car Gurus and they did not seem at all upset about my claim nor were they willing to meet me at a fair price. As an additional note: The dealership also use the excuse that it's a new month and more promotions were offered last month. However, It was already in the evening of August 1 when I viewed the listing. Every time I take my truck up there they mess something up. I got an oil change with tire rotation and they cross threaded one of my lug nuts. I also bought 4 new tires from them and they didn't balance them right. That made my truck drive like crap. They put water in my wife's radiator instead of coolant when it was 100+ outside. They said the radiator had no coolant in it at the time but how would they know if they didn't pull one of the hoses off. There was no warning lights on or anything. The service lady gave me a story about needing to do a pressure test and that they didn't have any coolant in the shop so they used water. On a new vehicle? These people are some lazy no good so called mechanics. You would think Ford would train these fools before letting them work on people's vehicles. read more

On October 7th we took our 2024 Ford Mustang for service warranty and until this day we have no updates on our vehicle. Firstly, I was allowing my son to take care of the situation, he came to me and told me he was not getting any answers regarding the vehicle. Then it came to my attention that I needed to step in and help him get this issue resolved. Since it has been there for a good amount of time, and we have need for the vehicle. At other times we have been offered a loaner vehicle since we are still under warranty, but on this occasion, we were denied that option. I then decided to call our service advisor personally (Vincent) to get some answers and while being on the phone with him, I found his behavior unprofessional and uninterested in assisting me. I politely asked when our vehicle was going to be ready for us to pick it up and he told us he had to check with the technician and give us a call back. We never heard back from him. I am extremely disappointed by the level of service we are receiving from your dealership and staff and expect better treatment as a returning customer. Make sure you really check your vehicle out for any damage before you leave with it. They are really attentive almost harassing when. They are trying to get you to buy the vehicle but never return your calls or messages once you have paid for it. Here are just the facts: I received financing through my credit union and was given a check to fill in once I found a vehicle. It's covid makes the situation less cumbersome. I found a vehicle online I wanted. Sale fell through. Found identical one from Haik so I contacted them They were very responsive but I asked questions based off the car facts. They insured me that the issue was resolved but the car facts wasn't specific so I looked at the general area of the carfax information. Nice vehicle. I had a medical procedure so for a month I had only driven the vehicle home. New vehicle driven 20 miles in a month. Parked in my home garage. I decided to drive it when feeling better noticed at the very top of windshield there was a crack that I would not have even noticed if it hadn't started raining. I took pictures which also weren't really visible because of location of the crack Well it's been 3 weeks almost and they have never returned the inquiry about the windshield. I still have not even driven the vehicle 200 miles because of crack and not been given an answer about if they will be handling the repair or if it's on me. I have no problem doing it if it's not covered but I must add that it has a LoJack system on the vehicle that sends information back and forth such as accidents, location etc. I'm not trying to take advantage of anything. I won't be taken advantage of either. If you do business with them be OVERLY informed because all the calling emailing and text will definitely stop cause hey they got their money.
