After a paid in-home service visit, he used a professional follow-up email to invite me to "a nice wine place in Saratoga." Whatever his intention, the invitation was personal--not work-related--and I clearly informed him by email that it made me uncomfortable. In his own public response, he wrote: "I've taken that as a reminder to keep client communication strictly to the work." That is precisely the professional boundary I was describing. As a woman living alone, allowing a service provider into my home required trust. I initially scheduled another visit because I wanted the problems resolved, but after further reflection, I was not comfortable allowing him back. A return visit by the same provider was not a workable solution. His description of the job as primarily syncing my Google accounts does not match the written scope he accepted. Before his visit, I wrote, "I'm not looking for a single repair--I need help organizing my entire Apple and Google setup." My detailed list covered iCloud; personal and work Gmail accounts; contacts, calendars, photos, notes, and backups; passwords and account recovery; account organization; and five Apple devices. He did not even look at my iPad. TV was only if time allotted. I also clearly stated that I was willing to schedule additional time. He responded: "We can take care of all the issues you mentioned. It might take up to two hours. I work fast and efficiently so hopefully it will be less than that." At the end of approximately one hour, he told me the work was complete, and I initially believed it was. The problems became clear only after I began using my devices and accounts. The issue is not that he worked for one hour instead of two. The issue is that he accepted the full scope, said it was complete, and now publicly reduces the job to syncing. My follow-up email documented concerns beyond the phone not charging, including repeating Google Calendar entries, difficulty downloading PDFs, continued device problems, and ongoing confusion about the cloud and account setup. His public response leaves out those concerns and presents the follow-up as only an unrelated charging issue. For me, $225 paid in cash was a significant expense. Another professional has since resolved my issues for approximately half that amount, and everything now works properly. Mr. Ansaldo calls his personal invitation a "friendly gesture" that was "meant kindly." A genuinely kind and professional response now is straightforward: return $112.50--half of what I paid.
