Service was good, but food was terrible. French fries were cold, pizza was cold. Floor was oily and the bathrooms were rough!

One of my friends was raving about this spot so I decided to give it a try. The menu is huge with a variety of options to choose from consisting of mainly American and Mexican cuisines. I had the Wild Bill Burger and my boyfriend had the Diablo Quesadilla. Both were pretty average and they charged me for a side of ranch which was kind of odd. For desert we tried the Cinnabon a lot of people mentioned on yelp and it wasn't that great at all. If anything it was probably one of the worst Cinnabons I ever had. I live here in Boone and there are not many places open late meaning that when me and big groups of friends are looking for a place to eat after 9:30 this seems to be our only option. Food is sub par at best (definitely not worth the price) and service is slow due to the flustered wait staff. There also no options if you are vegan or vegetarian. My friend ordered the mushroom burger assuming it was a vegetarian burger made with mushroom but do to an unclear and cluttered menu it turns out he was wrong and it was a beef burger with mushrooms on top. I have tried giving this place a second chance multiple times but it always proves to be a disappointing experience. read more

Extremely disappointed in what used to be a fun little restaurant. Every table in the restaurant still had tables that hadn't been cleaned up with dirty food and drinks all over it (about 15-20 dirty tables). There was one server working the entire restaurant and one person at the bar. We felt bad for her. It wasn't her fault the restaurant was completely understaffed. The first thing you notice after walking through the doors that somehow remain ajar at all times despite them being more heavy to open than the entrance to your uncle's fallout bunker, is the smell of cinnamon rolls. Sweet. Delicious. Cloying. Do not be fooled. As you take a seat, you notice glib blurbs written in sharpie by college teens who weren't given crayons and coloring books upon their being seated. Messages reminiscent of "Call Becky for a good time." and "Down with the bourgeois." evoke a feeling that the rollercoaster ride has just begun. Not unlike a trip to Carowinds, there will surely be sweat, tears, diarrhea, and vomiting, or some mixture of them all during your stay here. If you are able to work through the over-100-item menu within the entirely unpredictable amount of time you will be given before your waiter comes back with your drink order, I commend you. If you have chosen to order a food item, you are among the bravest of us all. Now is the time to answer curiosities you've long held. What might it be like to eat nachos that describe the taste of a an obese child's sweaty croc? What would a dinner be like if an item was ordered based off of an unchanging description, and then delivered to your table as something altogether not-what-you-ordered? The man in the back, creating food, he is an unpredictable maestro of chaos--he laughs at the thought of a recipe. True talent cannot be bound by antiquated rules. It is more likely that you have something go awry during your stay than something go right. I think the most sobering moment you will have here--if you make it this far--is realizing that you have been charged $30 for $3 worth of cardboard and underwear sweat. Yes, you have to pay. No, you cannot run. The lethargy from the oil soaked garbage you've stuffed yourself with keeps you slow and tamed. As soon as you arrive home, you will nap and try to forget about the terrible mistake you've made. If I could give 0 stars I would. Took 10 minutes for the lady to even come greet us and ask for our drinks. Ordered a $10 hamburger and fries and I got charged .75 cents for every little cup of ranch and cheese I needed for my fried pickles, burger which came w cheese sauce, and fries. Awful service. Waitress was extremely rude and didn't check on our table. Spent $4 on tiny cups of cheese and ranch alone. Please do not go here. Overworked employees who are not paid enough to do the work they do. The servers are expected to restock all items by running down into the basement even if they have multiple tables open. Servers are also expected to host, clean tables, stock sauces and sides, and clean the dishes. They are not tipped well at all. The food is not good. The place is unsanitary. Most amazing cinnamon roll I've ever had in my entire lifetime. Food menu is decent, a little overpriced for what it is. I had Nachos which were good but nothing exceptional. My boyfriend had a burger. The atmosphere was good, the bartender was fun (we are at the bar to avoid the long wait and so the boyfriend could watch football). Yeah, I've experienced better...at Macado's! I was in Boone on business and specifically went to Macado's with a coworker because of several wonderful experiences before. Well, that was a couple years ago and things sure have changed. The chicken in the quesadillas was rubbery and tasteless. The queso was awful. The chips and 2 tablespoons of salsa were free so we ordered queso and it was overpoweringly artificial tasting. The so-so selection of beers was uninspired considering the abundance of of microbrews in the area. Dessert was pretty good but I won't rush back. read more

Came in for lunch sat at bar and was told grill was currently being repaired could be 30 minutes or more before I get food, I asked what about sandwiches, bartender said all our sandwiches are hot, I asked what about the Club sandwich, bartender said the bread is toasted so no, at this point I'm thinking do you guys want my money or not. We love this place! This was my wife's favorite place in college back in the 90's. We came here during the App State /Miami game this past weekend for the first time in years. We had 11 people in our party, estimated wait was 1 1/2 hours )they only have a few tables that can seat that many people together. I would like to say our experience was amazing. It was the worst service I've ever experienced at this restaurant. Maybe it was the kitchen, maybe it was the wait staff, maybe it was the manager or Covid! It's probably Covid Fog!! Our drinks were slammed on the table 14 people and mine and my fiancés meal were the only order correct. Hope no one was thirsty or needed a napkins and silverware. Worst Experience! Waited 45 minutes for sandwiches and a salad. Everything was ice cold and the salad had two hairs in it. When we asked the bar tender which local beers they had on tap, he told us about two beers actually from Greensboro. When we spoke with the manager, he seemed indifferent. We like to go by Macado's as a bit of nostalgia from our days attending ASU in the late 80s when the restaurant was new and fun. Now it's really pretty bad. The service was as bad as it gets. After being ignored by the waiter consistently I went to the bar and got a drink for my wife and I got bottled beer because they were having to use pitchers to clear the head out on the draft lines all evening. I went to another bar later in the eve and someone said that is typical at Macado's. We ate an appetizer that was greasy, cold and seemed made earlier in the day. And the place just seemed to have lost its old charm. We will keep our memories but skip the repeat visits when back in town. read more

Worst lunch I have ever had- my salad was awful. The avocado put on my salad was almost all black, with very little green showing. Disgusting. They were out of hard boiled eggs, so the salad had no egg on it. It didn't really matter. The chicken on the salad was old and tough. The lettuce was old as well - brown on the edges. We ate here our first night back in the Boone area (for a mini-college reunion). We thought about getting it to-go, but the host guy said that the food would come out fast. Yeah, right! We ordered quickly (we had a 2 year old in tow). Toddler got antsy (it DID take quite a while for the food), so hubby had to walk around with him outside. We got the same sandwich: Gibson Girl- melted swiss, cheddar, muenster cheese, lettuce, and tomato on French bread with mayo and chips. We got our son a little mini cheese pizza. Fun atmosphere, but extremely poor service and bad food. Visiting Boone, my girlfriend and I stopped in based on a recommendation from a few passerby's. There were two female bartenders who both had terrible attitudes. They were either texting or counting the tips of the day.
