I first heard about the Mac Advantage on Tommy Smother's wife's radio show: The Marcy Smothers Show. Marcy LOVES her Apple computer (almost as much as she loves great food!) and when it crashed she had her assistant take it in to the Mac Advantage. Marcy was so thrilled with the service that she pretty much dedicated an entire show to singing praises for the tech there & the integrity he demonstrated. A half dozen customers of the Mac Advantage called in during the show raving about the shop - including a graphic designer I know well who worked at Whole Foods Market at the time. My Mac is my baby. As a designer, it's a crucial part of my work - and I'm nearly always 'under the gun' to meet one client's or another's deadline. So, despite the glowing reviews on Marcy's show & online, I somewhat reluctantly called the M.A. when my regular mac guy couldn't seem to get to the root of a recurring problem I'd been plagued with for months. He has worked with many designers, and has a design background himself. Perhaps this time Yelp will record my rating, having left it blank last time. My 2009 Mac just went down mysteriously. I was referred to this shop by another computer technician. Wow, did I get a lot more than I ever could have imagined! Making the world a better place certainly has a lot to do with communication. Mac Advantage gets more than 5 stars for this! From the outset, by telephone, by email, and then again in person, the provided service and demeanor of the staff went well above and beyond anything I've experienced for a very long time. I was thoroughly informed of the diagnostic process and then about the repairs and parts needed, as well as the costs, at every juncture. Perhaps most shocking, the entire repair job was accomplished in just over a day's work time - I once waited 2 weeks for a computer repair, so this quick turn-around blew me away. Finally, the respect and dignity with which Mac Advantage employees demonstrated towards me can not be understated. I genuinely felt welcome, had every question and concern heard and addressed, and was not in any way misled or misinformed. Beyond that, employees cared enough to get to know me and my work, personally and in a very friendly way. I thought your service was fantastic. My whole career is centered on customer service in the hospitality industry. I am a major critic of every store and service provider I encounter. I am routinely appalled at the severe lack of good service - even the most basic - which seems to be pervasive amongst businesses. The following are my reasons I was so impressed with your company: A live person answered the phone and spent considerable time with me prior to the appointment in a very friendly manner (Tam.) The woman who greeted me when I arrived was smiling and friendly, and immediately addressed my reason for being there, setting me up in your system without wasting any time whatsoever. This is Customer Service 101, but it's rarely followed. Even a simple smile is a great gesture that goes a long way. Tam spent a huge amount of time showing me how to use my computer, including features and programs I would never have used before (Apple's own Contacts, Mail and Calendar) and even a feature on my iPhone. NOTE: I was not there for any of this bonus info; I just came in because my computer was slow (needed more RAM or something...) Your pricing is very fair and reasonable. I drove from Healdsburg because I wanted an Apple specialist. It was well worth the drive, even in rush hour. I will highly recommend you to my friends and associates. read more

I have been going to Mac Advantage for over two years now starting with my Mac Quicksilver crashing (and them recovering it) to what I have now - a mac book pro. I have nothing, but glowing words for this business! If you want friendly customer service, knowledgeable people who know Macs inside and out and timely service, then this is where you want to take your business! My latest issue was with Mobileme and related calendar syncing issues. I first went to the Mac Genius Bar at SR Plaza Mall where they spent 2.5 hours on it and didn't fix the problem. Yes, the service was free, but my time which didn't even include driving from Petaluma and back wasn't. Recently, I let Mac Advantage take a look at the Mobileme issue while I was getting my DVD replaced there; Tam and Brandon fixed the problem, which turned out to be not an easy fix, but they stuck with it and until they got it working. Tam and his team always greet me with a smile and gladly answer any questions I have, no matter how simple or elementary in nature. I'm so thankful to have such a great company nearby to call on for Mac service and/or questions. read more

From start to finish - professionalism & attention to detail is present in every aspect & with every employee there: the phone skills, clear driving directions, free diagnosis & up front estimate; through the very speedy repairs. (Within 8 hours of drop off, they recovered all my photos, music, financial records & other documents - and at a fraction of the cost & time estimated elsewhere!! I joined Yelp just to write a review about The Mac Advantage - so that should tell you something right there. I live in the East Bay (about an hour from the Mac Advantage), but after seeing the reviews I knew it would be worth the trip! I was not disappointed. Rachel and Brandon were very professional, prompt and friendly. They always called me back within 24 hours with any updates and completed the work very quickly. The environment was so welcoming that you felt like you were having your techy friend check out your computer. They saved my MacBook. Horror of horrors happened when some red wine spilled on the keyboard one night. Yikes! I saw my life flashing before my eyes - my MacBook - my life! My computer was completely frozen after trying to login. I tried everything without success. I called MacAdvantage and spoke with Tam and he was confident that he could fix my computer. When I arrived I was welcomed by his beautiful staff and the master technician Tam diagnosed my computer on the spot. I've taken my computers to Tam for many years. And I always feel so well taken care of. Before I knew about Mac Advantage I took my computer to places closer to where I live. And even though I was very well taken care of by especially this one place I still always choose to take my needs to Tam. The main reason is that I have complete trust and faith in their honesty and desire to help me in the best way possible for me. Took my mac to the apple store in Santa Rosa. The 'Genius Bar' people misdiagnosed my problem, and suggested I get a $300 repair. Took my mac to Mac Advantage, and after the free diagnostic, Tam told me exactly what was wrong, which had nothing to do with the proposed $300 apple store fix. He saved me a lot of time, headache and money. Mac Advantage picked up my phone calls, after only 2 rings (always a plus), fixed my problem within 24 hours, and generally were a delight to work with. I have been taking my Mac computers to Mac Avantage for years. I have always been satisfied with their work. When I spilled a whole glass of water on my imac they had to tell me it was permanently dead. But they were able to save the hard drive with all my photos and other data. There have been other crises but that was the worst one. Always they explain everything so I can understand because I am not a computer guru. The price of services is reasonable. A superb experience. This crew offers customer service like the old days. They were consistently patient, interested in hearing my thoughts about the problem, and always friendly, even on Saturday when they were closed and I called with a connectivity issue. After two trips to the Mac store, 8 calls to Comcast and uncountable hours of spinning my wheels, Mac Advantage solved the problem. Other local computer repair people are used to charging full rates in the $100.00 per hour range even though they may work 5 minutes for working on the same issues that were not corrected initially. I went to Mac Advantage with a problem trying to connect my old Mac mini to a wifi system near my house. I was given good suggestions and a lot of time dealing with my situation. While it turned out that my old computer was just too antiquated to get the job done, I felt I received great support of the several days I tried to get things going. I know I will go back to these folks if I need some more help with the replacement mini I ended up getting. read more
