I had just spent a considerable amount of money on high-end PC parts for a new build. I assembled the computer, but ran into issues installing and updating the operating system. It was clearly a hardware problem that I could not figure out. I double and triple checked my work, checked the seating of all the components, and was at a loss to figure out what the problem was. I have experience building PCs, so making the decision to drop it off at a shop was unthinkable. However, after talking to Darin over the phone, he assured me he could troubleshoot my assembly and if necessary isolate any faulty components on the bench in time for me to RMA them. I dropped my computer off shortly before they closed for the Labor Day weekend, and had a very pleasant conversation with Darin and Jesse. They are two sharp guys who genuinely care about providing a superior level of customer service as well as some creative and valuable learning opportunities about computers for local kids. Chris gave me a call a few days later and let me know that after confirming that my assembly was done correctly and all the parts were functioning properly, the problem came down to a year old BIOS version on my brand new motherboard, something that had never occurred to me to check. They were able to flash it then get Win 11 installed and fully updated. They performed stress and thermal tests on all my parts and Darin personally insisted on carrying my box to my car when I came to pick it up. As a parting gift, he gave me what was probably the deepest dive into case fan configuration and airflow that I'd ever had with a sane human being. So far it's running great, and the cost was quite a bit less than I'd expected to have to pay. This isn't exactly the sort of service I have any desire to need an a regular basis, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to give these guys a call. I had a little difficulty finding this repair shop. BTW I heard they are moving to a larger, more obvious location. I went there because the wireless in my laptop wasn't working. I had tried everything I knew so in frustration searched out the best rated repair service in my area. I tracked them down and they told me my wireless was shot and an estimate on costs. He also advised me of more problems coming. He suggested I should go to Office Depot and buy $20 external wifi to get me by. (unlike some of the other less than professional players) I took my problem to them; they listened to my explanation patiently; they immediately diagnosed the problem; they fixed it; they described the issue without a shred of "mansplaning"; and they did not charge me for what was a quick but elegant fix. I had my identity stolen/ computer hacked via a Paypal breach May 2021. Ugh. With help, I got my somewhat new MacBook Air cleaned and shiny and for not so much money and faster than the Apple store. Had an appointment for 12:00 and Jesse showed up right on time. I had lost all my contacts and email was not working at all. I could not remember my password so could not open windows. He was able to get into Earthlink and find addresses back as far as 20 years and put them into Outlook. Working great now. I rarely use a computer repair service given I'm able to triage my own equipment, but I couldn't spare the time in this instance. My "P" key on my laptop was not working and after some cleaning attempts, it became obvious I needed some assistance. I emailed Sonoma Computer Repair on a Sunday (not expecting to receive a response) to see if they had any suggestions and Jesse got right back to me. Long story short, into the shop I went on Monday. Darrin performed the assessment and a new keyboard was in order. He said between ordering the part and installation, it would take @ 10 days. Well, 10 days turned into 6 and it cost less than originally estimated. Always nice to hear. I think many people are likely in a hurry to have their technical lifeline fixed, but they're very fair and upfront as it's first come first serve so patience is mandatory. I recently bought a new windows laptop computer from Costco. However, the computer arrived (as expected) with lots of "bloatware". I needed some help on removing all the excess apps and software. A friend told me to contact Geek Squad, so I called them and talked to someone in India. They told me it would cost $ 39.99 to remove the bloatware. It didn't sound right so I drove to Best Buys in Santa Rosa. They said the person in India was incorrect and it would cost $ 199.99 to work on my new computer. So I returned home and checked on Yelp and contacted a number of local repair shops. Sonoma Computer Repair was the first to contact me and Jessie answered all my questions. I took it right over and the next morning I had my new computer back and Sonoma Computer Repair did a great job. In addition, they installed a quick link to help me install my printer on the computer and upon returning home it took less than 2 minutes to link my Brother Printer with the computer.
