    Mexican roll
    Lily D.

Everything I have tried has been good, but the Mexican roll and the gelato are my staples. The gelato comes in one flavor that is a rich chocolate with salt. It tastes like it is made with quality chocolate. The Mexican roll is fresh and spicy. It comes with 10 pieces that feels just like enough for one sitting. The sushi tacos typically have 3 minis but a 4th can be added for $5.

This is an upscale Asian fusion gorgeous restaurant with views of the lake. This is a great spot for date night or special occasion dinners that can seat larger parties. The interior modern and charming with a 4 seasons large patio looking right at the water. They have a bar and high top tables as well. They recently added a great daily happy hour with small bites, cocktails and wines/beers/sake. Definitely try their rotation sake for only $5. We also enjoy their other happy hour cocktails and hand rolls. Food is quality but definitely have smaller portions that are meant to shared! Their tuna is to die for. I also have to always get my favorite frozen lychee cocktail called the Ileana!!! Ugh soo good.

The space is beautiful and has a scenic view of the water. In the summer, you will probably need to get a reservation. I've eaten here once before for a special event year prior and the food options were better in my opinion. The small plates got even smaller and more expensive. Not sure if the quality was better on things either. I was with 3 others and we all shared plates. chicken karaage was alright. I liked the crispiness was the sauce was nothing extravagant. Truffle Edamame - best thing I had! The only thing craveworthy that I had. Shrimp taco - smelled fishy but tasted better. I was able to split it into 2 since the shells are so small and the filling worked well in the 2 provided. Crispy rice with spicy tuna - this was fun to do but not as good as we were hoping. It was missing something. Shishito peppers- these were large and many had the seeds. Spicier due to this. Wagyu sushi tacos $24 for the tiny things and it looked like ground wagyu... felt like a cash grab. I didn't eat them but my crew ate 2 and didn't want to eat the last one. Chicken fried rice - good size and really gingery. Not my favorite but it was edible. Better value than other items. The sushi felt like Crave and they were teeny tiny. I didn't enjoy the fishiness so I was one and done. (I normally love seafood) Dessert- we split 2.. the churros and the tres leches. The churros needed some sweetness in the mixture as they were bland. I was hoping for a really good churro and these were just ok. The tres leches wasn't traditional and they should change the name to avoid confusion. They have a better happy hour if you sit at the bar. Our server was able to order us some fries. Despite not being in the bar area. Overall, I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here. The drinks and happy hour, maybe. The cocktail menu was very nice and I tried a few of my friends drinks.

Noticed they recently introduced a new happy hour menu, and it exceeded my expectations! The menu now features added Japanese influences and offers a greater selection of small dishes. I found the menu quite impressive. Our server was really friendly, and the food arrived promptly. This is definitely a new favorite place to meet up with friends for happy hour or a date.

Stopped by here for restaurant week! Glad we did because our drinks, food and ambiance was amazing! Not too busy on a Sunday night, you could probably get by without a reservation on a Sunday evening in the winter! I'm sure it's a totally different story in the summer because the covered patio we sat on has an incredible view of the lake! Check this place out if you're looking for a nice fancy meal with your buddies or your favorite person

Macanda continues to raise the bar with their new menu additions. We started with the corn esquites (10/10), not new but always a staple for us -- truly the best we've had. Creamy, zesty, and perfectly balanced with cotija, lime, and chili, and better than several other versions we've tried in the area. The Tuna Tostadas (9/10) were a highlight for us. Unique flavor of tuna with lemongrass chimichurri and a touch of truffle, bringing brightness, umami, and richness together in a perfect bite. The Wagyu Sushi Tacos (10/10) were the standout -- melt-in-your-mouth wagyu topped with caviar in a unique bite size presentation. The Kinoko Old Fashioned (9/10) was an excellent cocktail made with Japanese whiskey and mushroom butter, delivering a very smooth, earthy, and complex flavor profile. We tried both the Mexican Roll (8/10) fresh and well-executed but more avocado than I'd care for on a roll -- and the Tuna Pico Roll (10/10) which was easily the favorite of the night thanks to its vibrant layers of citrus, spice, and texture. We also tried the Spicy Tuna Maki Roll (7/10). The spicy tuna itself was excellent, but the roll leaned heavy on vegetables, distracting from the quality of the fish. Unfortunately, they were out of the crispy rice we had hoped to try, so we'll definitely be back for that. We finished with the churros (7/10), which were warm and crisp with cinnamon sugar and sauces, but could have used gelato or whipped cream to really elevate the dessert. Overall, a 9/10 experience -- bold flavors, creative combinations, and a menu that keeps getting better. We'll be returning soon to explore more of the Mexican-focused dishes and see how those have been revamped. Service is always phenomenal and pleasant. The ambiance is hands down one of my favorites outside the cities. Love all the greenery and Mexico City vibes.

Been here once before and enjoyed it. Heard they had a new chef and wanted to circle back for another visit. Didn't have a reservation, it was a Sunday night and not terribly busy luckily. Was able to be seated on the patio and it was a stormy night but it's indoor and heated. I wanted the same frozen drink from before but they got rid of it so I tried a new one. Got some calamari and a few tacos. Food and drinks were very tasty. Also got some churros for dessert. Staff was very friendly but the service was a little slow when it came to ordering the food. First experience was a little better but this was still good and will go back for sure.

Sushi and chicken fried rice. Yum!

Went to Macanda today for my wife's birthday. Not only was the food, atmosphere and view amazing, they treated us like royalty! Thanks so much for a brilliant experience!

I met up with a friend for happy hour and belated birthday. We heard the restaurant recreated their menu, now adding more sushi. This restaurant is beautiful! They share the building with another restaurant and business. Huge parking lot in the front. We made reservations just in case, we were greeted at the host station and seated. Server was really nice and food is delicious.

Bigggg change! Having visited four times prior to their makeover, Macanda was a spot that had moved to the bottom of my list. I really really tried to get on board with them but just couldn't - it felt expensive, with underwhelming food and a simple interior. What a shift! Their revamp has made a world of difference. I also think catering more to the Wayzata crowd, adding sushi rolls, small and sharable plates, all while keeping some of their classics. Their views of the lake are really unmatched and they boast a waterfront 4 seasons porch that now keeps up with the new food caliber. I went with a group of gals on a Monday night and the patio was packed. It was within their first few weeks of changing the menu, but still. We split two small plates and then each ordered our own roll. I would skip the crispy rice with spicy tuna. The rice was a thin (maybe one grain thick I kid you not) fried rice patty with a small dollop of tuna and barely any sauce. The corn dish (elote) on the other had was full of flavor - spicy and plentiful for four people with each of us gladly taking two servings. I would order the 294 roll without question. The other girls were less impressed with their rolls, but the 294 roll, although coming in at over $30, arrives with 10 instead of eight pieces and is flavorful, holds up to chopsticks and is definitely filling if you like shrimp tempura. Only thing I would say is service was quite slow, but again, they are early on in this renovation so understandably working out the kinks. f you were turned off by old Macanda, check them out again, very different experience!

Insert sad trumpet noise *wah, wah, wahhhhhhh* I wanted to love the new menu but I couldn't help but mourn the amazing dishes they took away. They also claim to have a better price point, but the portion to price ratio doesn't match up. Nothing stood out as a must get, but if I had to order one thing again - I'd keep ordering the tres leches. I enjoy the espresso twist they have on it. I don't foresee myself going back unless they either revamp the menu again, or revert back to the OG items they had.

Still one of the best restaurants in the twin cities. Their patio is my all time favorite spot for a nice dinner. The service is always nice, drinks spectacular and food is SO flavorful. We ordered the shrimp tacos, corn/esquites and the tuna aguachile blanco. I've tried a lot of tuna in my day, and I have to say... this might be my absolute favorite. The flavor is out of this world. I seriously can't wait for my next visit. It feels like stepping into a vacation each time I visit.

We LOVED everything here! Our server had great conversations with us, filled us in on the menu, and gave amazing recommendations! My table shared four apps which was plenty to start our night. We ordered the shrimp empanadas impulsively at the last minute and they were my favorite app. The pork chop probably wouldn't have been my first choice, but we heard so many positive reviews that we ordered it and I am very thankful we did. This pork chop was perfectly cooked -- tender with phenomenal flavor. The enchiladas were a small portion, so I would plan for an app or a side. No detail was spared when creating the experience at this restaurant. The seating, lighting, plants, and additional decorations make the dining experience feel special! I plan to come back for dinks on the patio in the summer!

It's extremely noisy, and the tables are very close together. We had to listen to a little boy watching cartoons on his phone the entire evening, which was NOT what I was planning for our 25th anniversary dinner. Touching on our anniversary, I called and made a reservation 3 weeks prior and begged the host on the phone to put us in a quiet corner, not in the middle of the room. I had very special plans and was going to present my wife with a beautiful new diamond ring to replace the one she got 15 years ago on our 10th. When we arrived, we were placed at a very small table right smack in the middle of the room!!! I asked the host when she tried to seat us if she could please put us in the corner table, which was vacant, and was told no, this is the best table we can give you. I was NOT HAPPY!!! Completely ruined every plan I had. We worked through the table location and made the best of what we were given. The waiter was very polite and professional and took very good care of us. The food was delicious and despite the table location, it was an awesome evening. I will say this to anybody reading... do NOT go here if you're looking for a quiet romantic evening. It's not the place. Otherwise... 100% recommended!!!!

The most uncomfortable thing is finding a place to park. If you can't find a spot in the lot, tracking down a street spot that isn't only 1 hour can be a challenge or a bit of a walk. We started with cocktails and Bread is Life appetizer (5/5). Bread is indeed life. We needed two baguettes to eat the three butters/sauces. The whipped ricotta and honey was my favorite, but the chimichurri was a close second. For entrees we split the Beet and Watermelon King Salmon Salad (3/5), A Fat Burger (5/5), Chilled Lobster Roll (4/5), and the Spicy Lobster Mac and Cheese (5/5). The salad was good, but the salmon didn't have enough seasoning for me. It's also more of a traditional watermelon salad vs lettuce salad. The lobster roll was good, but of course mostly bread. It was a hardy sandwich and filled more than other restaurants. The burger was in fact fat, cheesy and juicy. The sandwiches come with hand cut fries (5/5) and an aioli. While the Mac and cheese says it's spicy, it's more of a Minnesota spice. It's a shareable portion, but no more than 3 people if they have other food. For dessert we ordered the Mud Moon Pie (4/5). When they say it's served with a knife they mean it. The portion size is huge! Like 6-12 people could eat on it. We ended up sharing with the table next to us. We were warned it was shareable, but I wish there would have been a smaller portion option to select. We felt so wasteful not being able to eat even half of it. We loved our server. We never felt rushed, our water glasses were never empty and she split the bill with our individual dishes and then split the shared items (I love when they do this vs giving us one bill). While the prices are a little high, the portion sizes and quality of food make it worth it.
