Was passing through Monroe on going to stop at Subway, when the signs for Mac Daddy's caught our eye. Stopped in and it seemed like a fast-casual dining. Decor was pretty cool, especially the humongous skillet filled with mac n cheese on the wall stating 'Not your mom's mac 'n cheese.' Basically, you order your macs by type/flavor and size. The skillet is plenty for 1 person, the mack is good for 1 starving individual or 2 to share, and the mackdaddy is a good size for a group to share. After you order and pay, you take a number from the cashier, fill your drink, grab your forks/utensils and head for a table, and the sizzling skillets are brought out to your table when it's ready! So easy. The guy at the cashier was very friendly, as well as the woman who is the owner. We tried the Skillet sizes of the Mac Cuban and the Mac Mushroom, and enjoyed the cuban a bit more. The combination of flavors was just awesome! They seem to use really good quality ingredients (cremini and shiitake mushrooms and white truffle oil in the Mac Mushroom, homemade pulled pork in the Cuban), and the portions seem pretty good; my boyfriend and I each had a skillet and ended up taking some home. If we're ever down in that area again, I'll be trying the Mac Daddy or Mac Popeye! read more

Party of three for dinner we each ordered a small but I wanted water to drink instead of soda they only give you a 4oz cup to get water in. So I had to pay for soda size cup just to have water with my dinner. This didn't set well with me. Disappointed in flavor tonight compared to other times. I went there when if first opened so take this for what it is worth... maybe things for better. The menu was limited, and they basically only had mac and cheese. If I were an investor this place would be destined for FAILURE. My wife can't have gluten or dairy so we will never go here again. There were no other options. Good if you enjoy casual racist micro aggressions with your sub-par Mac n Cheese. Not only was the food disappointing but the horrendous service really made the trip worth while. I love having my debit card ran as credit then thrown down on the counter while my hand was extended outward. It's especially sincere when treatment is so stark in contrast to that towards my white passing friend. Tried for the first time today after hearing great reviews, and ended up violently ill in the bathroom for hours. Ordered plain mac n cheese, tasted good at first, left a horrible taste in my mouth as it started to settle, and was probably some nasty cheese out of a can. I honestly felt disgusting after i finished and it did NOT sit well in my stomach, I was sick immediately after. First and last time eating here. The "gourmet" mac and cheese consists of overcooked generic macaroni (pasty and tasteless), gooey cheese-like toppings and assorted bland and vastly overpriced toppings. Deinitely not worth the trip, even though I live within half a mile of this joint. First time here. It's very dark and dingy inside. We sat near the window full of cob webs and no shades/curtains. We were roasted out of our seats and had to move. Every table was dirty. The whole place felt dirty after awhile. The counter person used napkins to pick up the spilled food on the tables. Nothing was washed. I ordered the LobsterMac... I think I found about a 1/2 ounce of claw meat.....for $15. I was asked if I wanted bread crumbs, said yes and they forgot them. The counter person brought my plate back to the kitchen where I watched them "throw raw crumbs" onto my expensive dish. Not toasted is how I ate them. Mac and Cheese was pretty good, cooked al dente and the cheese sauce is very creamy. Sadly, won't be going back. read more

A real diet buster if there ever was one. The 'snack' size is quite big. I think this is nice to bring the kids to for a special treat and would be good for teens on there own since it is affordable. Great Concept Poor Execution. Maybe they can fix it. So how exciting to have a Mac and Cheese Bar around the corner. The menu promises some simple and some creative options. Perfect for the family. Here are the big problems. They obviously prepare meals as follows. 1: boil a huge pot of really cheap elbow noodles (like you get from Kraft) and set them aside. 2. Create a prep station with all the fix-ins for each menu item. When an order comes in: 3: Take a scoop of cold pre cooked noodles and place them in a cast iron pan. 4: Pour the appropriate topping over the cold noodles. 5: put pan in the oven and heat. Here is the problem. The flavors don't infuse, the dishes taste exactly like they should fairly bland. Solution: better noodles undercooked fresh than finished over a flame with the topping. Unfortunately, I don't think this place will make it, management seems to be a bit unprofessional, the owner set up his office in the bar where he was taking "business" calls and working his laptop in the middle of dinner service. We stopped in to use a current Groupon and an expired one. As we stood in line we were APPALLED by the way greg behind the counter yelled at an older man, was rude to the people in front of us and it got worse. When I tried to explain my groupon was expired so I knew I'd need to pay extra I was berated about paying taxes and how everyone that day was using Groupons. As a Small Business owner I would fire any employee that represented my brand this way. We asked for drink trays and were told they are out, our luke warm orders were placed in a bag with such sloppy writing we couldn't tell them apart when we got home. While we waited 5 other customers came in and got rude service. While Groupon might have brought me in the door, it's a door that I'd never walk through again, not even for free. read more

Some of the reviewers below are really cranky, Macdaddy's is awesome, and it is one of our favorite places to eat. I have never had a problem with any of the staff, they are always super friendly and helpful. I go to both the Monroe (near home) and Fairfield (near work) restaurants and have no complaints on either locations. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu, and have not had anything I didn't like. It's great comfort food, and really delicious. My favorite is the Mac Caprese, and my husband loves the Mac Doggy. Also, I just used my restaurant.com coupon with no problem, I'm not sure why people are having issues with it. read more

Holy cow this place was awful, i recently went here after a long day of work, to be greeted by a lazy miserable cashier (manager maybe). It was about ten of closing for them so they had probally already cleaned and emptied the water to boil the noodles because mine was cold. I was extremely disappointed. We had Mac alla vodka that was basically terrible marinara sauce and paid $9.00. We also had the pulled pork which the only thing good was the Baby rays sauce. My husband is an avid macaroni and cheese lover, so we decided to try Mac Daddy's. He wanted the macaroni and cheese with hot dogs, so I ordered the small portion and brought it home to him for dinner. I had the macdoggy and it was good. Nice friendly service and good food. I liked the decoration of the huge bowl of mac@cheese on the wall. I had the small skillet and it was very filling. My dish was basically chedder mac and cheese with hot dog pieces. Although it was a kid kind of restaurant because it served a main kid food it lacked kid kinds of mac@cheese. Not even having hamburger mac@cheese was depressing. The MacPulledPork was amazing. It was mac@cheese with pulled pork and BBQ sauce. It was supposed to have blue cheese but I didn't see any. I ordered the vodka sauce mac, I saw him make the sauce with jar marinara sauce and throw some vodka in it.......... this is not vodka sauce!. After eating here multiple times with good experiences, had a HORRIBLE one recently. We called in our order, and when I questioned the amount we paid, I saw the order was wrong. I was told by the manager on duty that there was no way it could be wrong, since he was the manager. When I asked to be refunded the difference in price, he said he could not. I really wanted to dislike this place. Been by it hundreds of times but couldn't get excited enough to visit. Mac and cheese, the staple of picnics, children, the poor and the lazy? Something you grab from the freezer when you are too tired to actually fix something or go out to eat? Well it is actually quite good. Very interesting combinations of Mac and cheese. I had the black forest ham and gruyere cheese which was excellent. They have 22 offerings covering most people's tastes. The snack portion size was more that enough for one person. I thought the cheese was a bit thin for a hearty Mac and cheese but tasty none the less. It is a bit pricy- basically $8-13 for the snack size- the latter being lobster. The macdaddy size that will serve 3 with lobster is $48. I'm not sure who would want to pay that much to take a succulent lobster and spoil it my covering it with Mac and cheese. Despite that thought it wasn't a bad meal. Back real soon? Doubt it, but at some point I will likely stop in again. The macdaddy breakfast served on Saturday and Sunday sounds interesting, but for those times when I'm too lazy to fix something at home I usually have Amy's Mac and cheese in the freezer which is thick, tasty and lacks some if the calories. read more

What brought us to MacDaddy's was the Groupon that we purchased. I'm so glad for that because now we know where to come when we have a craving for some top-notch reasonably priced mac and cheese! We had 4 snack-sized skillets that we shared between 3 people. I say it is reasonably priced because we easily brought half of each skillet home, as even the snack-sized portions are filling. My daughter's favorite was the Meatball, my husband's was the Cuban, and mine was the Monte Cristo. I'm glad we all had our own favoites so that we really need to share. We did share a French Onion, which was equally as good. We are now eating the leftovers at home - even better. And we still have some left for a third meal. We at at the Monroe MacDaddy's, which was a haul for us, but well worth the drive. They have one open in Fairfield now and Milford said they should have open before the summer. read more

I went to Mac daddy's because I heard they had the option of gluten free mac & cheese. Clearly I was very excited about this since I am allergic to gluten and typically cannot have pastas. So, I went in and ordered the traditional Mac & cheese, but gluten free. My friend who I was with also ordered the traditional Mac & cheese, but not gluten free. When the employee brought out the Mac & cheese I asked multiple times if this was gluten free and he confirmed it each time. However, not long after I already started eating the food he comes back with another tray of Mac & cheese and says how sorry he was, but the Mac & cheese I was eating was not the gluten free one. I was then given my gluten free food and my money back for the inconvenience, however, that will not make up for the fact that I will sick for several weeks to come because of this mistake. Giving someone a food they are allergic to is obviously totally unacceptable and should not be a mistake that is made. This is extremely unprofessional. So, all in all, I had a terrible experience at this location of Mac daddy's. read more
