My personal favorite is the mac daddy, which is essentially a Big Mac mixed with macaroni and cheese, complete with ground beef and thousand island dressing. Barely any lobster and for $30 for a medium you'd think it would've been a lot better. Also the cheese was almost bitter. I had to throw the rest away. Have been here many times and I'm usually happy with my order. Today however was a different story. Ordered the mushroom Mac and cheese which came with hardly any mushrooms at all (not what I'd expect given the name) and it also tastes like they totally overdid the truffle oil. When I went to complain, I was offered a side of mushrooms. It looked like two small cut up mushrooms that were cold out of the fridge. Disgusting and no, it's not gonna make up for the mistake. How do you go wrong with a menu comprised entirely of mac & cheese? This isn't your boring, from-a-box variety, although they do offer "Mac USA" with American and cheddar cheese. However, most of the selections are more creative. I tried the sampler of Mac Italiano (mortadella, sweet sopersata, cherry peppers & provolone), Mac French Onion (gruyere, carmelized onions, applewood bacon) and Mac Alla Vodka (what the name suggests). My husband had the Mac Lobo (lobster, roasted corn, and asiago), which had very generous portions of lobster. All were very tasty, although mine were a little salty. It was hard to tell, though, if that was just the nature of what I ordered or whether ones without bacon & other cured meats would be so salty. As you'd expect, this is not health food (although there is a salad on the menu as well), so the portions may look small but really aren't. The atmosphere is casual and a little loud, and the set up is divided into two sides - one with a bar and TV and one with tables and a full-wall chalkboard for drawing. Dishes are served in individual cast iron skillets (or 3-segment sample pan), which just adds to the atmosphere. All in all, a great addition to the choices in the area for a night our with friends or family. read more

Limited. Okay, yes they have 25+ versions of mac and cheese, and that's nice if that's what you want, but one normally have something else with M&C. A salad, or something to cut the richness. We had one called "French Onion" which was very sweet, I suppose due to the carmelized onion..... My wife took 5 bites and me about 12 and then we put the rest in a to go bag. My kids tasted it at home and said "no thanks." I liken it to cold stone creamery. A place you might visit on vacation when you don't mind dropping some cash for a gluttonous experience which is unlikely to be repeated again. I'm not sure if the other reviewers and myself went to the same place. The manager was so attentive and pleasant and the mac and cheese was out of the this world. My fiance and I had a restaurant.com gift certificate, which was honored without debate. I ordered the yard bird, my fiance the cuban, and we split the meatball, all mac sizes. I knew going into this we'd have leftovers for another meal, or three meals...All 3 varieties were delicious; we had to get to-go containers. Again, the manager was more than willing to give us bigger containers than what is left out for patrons. We will definitely be returning - great service, awesome food, and reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. read more

Wow, I was looking for a local place to take my kids for dinner, and was really disappointed. Perhaps if you only eat mac and cheese from a box, than this is better, but I found it lacking. I don't get the "cast iron skillet" serving plate - especially since the mac and cheese doesn't have that crusty top that you would usually get if it had been placed under a broiler. In addition, the only large table (for 4) that was available when we arrived was really dirty. We were there at an early 5:30, which makes me think it hadn't been wiped down after lunch service. I had a Restaurant.com certificate to use. They said that they do not accept them anymore. The restaurant knows the guidelines of these certificates when they choose to participate in the program. I feel it's a way to get customers in the door and probably MOST of the time they will stay and eat even though their certificate was refused. As for the food..it was decent. Kinda high priced for what you get there. They will tell you to contact Restaurant.com regarding a replacement certificate for the one that they refused to take. Not the brightest way to get customers in the door but fortunately for them it works. So if you have a gift certificate to use there, save a trip and find somewhere else to go eat. read more

After reading the other reviews posted I am wondering if I was at the same restaurant. Although I agree that the staff was friendly, the ordering process is odd and just doesn't make sense. Since your food is delivered to your table, why not just have those same employees take your order at the table? Our party of 7 paid with 3 different credit cards (which we were instructed to leave at the bar after ordering for some reason). Our orders were all separate and came to the table at different times (the last coming after I had finished most of my meal). My Mac meal was dry and I couldn't help but wonder what happened to the cheese in mac and cheese? It certainly isn't the creamy cheesy macaroni and cheese that I grew up with (or make from scratch for that matter). Overall, I didn't completely dislike the place, but I was just disappointed that most accept this as good food. It is certainly better than Kraft, but no where as good as making mac and cheese from scratch. read more

What brought us to this place in Monroe? A Restaurant.com gift certificate we purchased back in April. Unfortunately, when I mentioned that before we placed our order at the counter, the cashier said that they were no longer accepting the certificates per the owner's problems with Restaurant.com. Being a hungry family that was already looking forward to this comfort food for dinner after a rainy soccer game, we decided to stay anyways. We ended up paying $31 for two adults and one 11 year old for MACARONI AND CHEESE. Was it good? Sure. Our son really liked the mac-n-cheese with the hot dog ($11 for regular size, with enough leftover for a light lunch). Mine was OK - the Popeye with goat cheese and garlic ($9 for snack size). DH's was French Onion - carmelized onion, bacon, and gruyere cheese (also $9 for snack size). It's a good concept, but way over-priced. My son can make his own mac-n-cheese with hot dog for 1/10 the price. On top of that, as we were sitting eating our dinner, another family came in with a Restaurant.com certificate, were told the same thing and ended up staying too. After contacting Restaurant.com, who e-mailed that though the vendor was no longer selling certificates on their website, the ones that were already purchased (like ours) should have been honored per their contract, this place left a bitter taste in our mouths. When I think mac and cheese bar, I think who doesn't love mac and cheese? This isn't your ordinary mac and cheese. Gourmet mac and cheese it is, with all sorts of flavors and combos. My bf and I ordered a snack size of the French Onion and BBQ Pulled Pork. Both flavors were very good. The French Onion tasted like the soup itself, except in mac form and the BBQ Pulled Pork was both sweet and savory. The first 5 bites were creamy and gooey and rich, but after that.... you just get tired of eating it. Great idea, just not well executed...at least for me, it wasn't my cup of tea (or bowl of mac). Driving down route 7, I saw this huge macdaddy truck parked on the side of the road and was immediately intrigued. I started craving for mac and cheese, so I finally checked the place out, and have been back a couple of times since. It was a little hard to find, but what a GREAT PLACE! I'm really digging the concept. The interior was nicely done (having a background in design), I'm really impressed with how the owners pulled it off. The colors of the walls and furniture really emphasize the upscale, kid-friendly, casual dining atmosphere. I can go there, enjoy a nice cocktail on the bright orange couches in the bar, have a nice skillet of fresh mac and cheese, set up my laptop with the free wi-fi, and relax. Or, you can bring your kids and enjoy a fun dining experience with them. I don't have any children, but saw quite a few families there with kids doodling all over the blackboard in the main dining area. What fun, they were able to entertain young kids and adults alike, with a chic design, and maintain a sophisticated ambience. The ordering was confusing at first, but once I got used to it, it's very interactive and cozy. Kind of feels like you're at home, and adds to the intimacy of this concept. We're so used to going out and being "waited on" that I can understand why this might make some people uncomfortable. However, I've been a server for years during college, and I've seen my share of customers treating servers poorly because of "slow" service. It's actually quite disheartening some of the behaviors I've witnessed. So, I do prefer this execution of ordering. It seems a good balance of allowing the control back in the customer's hands. If I want another drink, I just go up and order another one instead of waiting for some one to come around. It functions like a bar and is very efficient that way, from my observation. The staff is also very friendly. So, overall, I'd have to say that I've had wonderful experiences at macdaddy's. The food tastes very fresh, and I love the way it's presented in the hot skillet. My favorites so far would have to be the mac mushroom and the mac philly. The portions are very generous, and I cannot eat it all in one sitting (it tastes just as good heated up again!). I can see the concept growing in a time like this and wouldn't be surprised if more locations popped up. I hope this review was helpful. read more

As the name suggest, if you love all things macaroni and cheese you will love Macdaddy's. They have a large menu of different types of mac and cheeses filled with all types of toppings and odd sauces. If you have a chance get the MAC A.M it is a "breakfast" entree with an egg on top. I try to eat in whenever possible just for the simple fact that they finsh the prep of your meal in a cast iron skillet. The mac and cheese gets slightly burned to the cast iron, and creates a nice shell of cheese and sauces thats just as good as the mac and cheese itself. They also are very flexible in letting you add more toppings or customizing preset entrees. Of course some of the menu might be hit or miss for you, especially if you aren't fond of the idea of eating just mac and cheese, but then again why would you be in a restaurant that specializies serving in mac and cheese entrees if you didn't? read more

We thought everything was excellent; enjoyed everything we ordered: Mac Phillie, Mac Cuban, and Mac Doggy. We all had clean plates at the end of the meal. I will say this that snack size is pretty damned filling so I'd not order any bigger than that. Remember everyone, this is basically just a fast food restaurant, you are not getting Artisanal's (Park & 32nd, NYC) baked Mac n Cheese with artisanal cheeses, you are getting a great Mac n Cheese offering in a fast-food-like environment, it is an awesome bang for the buck! Delicious! My friend and I both got the Popeye Mac n' cheese (spinach, garlic and goat cheese) and it was awesome! The snack size is the perfect size for a lunch or dinner. The meal is so filling, I couldn't image eating a larger portion unless you were to share. I look forward to trying the other varieties since I'm a big fan of macaroni and cheese. The restaurant is small and dark, yet cozy. The meal was created VERY quickly, so it's a nice place for a work lunch break if you're in the area. read more

They omitted this, with the intention of a more "authentic french onion" flavor. They hadn't taken it off of the sign yet, so I expected to see it on the plate. They quickly brought it out to me when I asked for it. It was much better with the bacon on top.) My 3 yr old daughter had the Mac USA (?) traditional, kid friendly. This is one of my favorite places to go. The mac and cheese is delicious and comes out to the table served in a skillet. The prices are reasonable as most are around $8 or $9 for a snack size, which is plenty for one person to eat with a little leftover to take home. The waiter advertised that we should get Mediums if we were hungry because the small would not be enough. Medium is enough for about 2.5 people!! Cannot believe the outrageous prices for pasty macaroni slimed over with cheese-like goo. Kraft mac and cheese from a box is much better than this overpriced slop. No table service to speak of. Found out too late that the girl texting at an empty table should have been our "waitress". The guy behind the counter failed to dress in clean clothes and wore about half a week's worth of cheesy slop on the front of his Tshirt. The table was dirty and sticky until someone showed up with a wet rag to wipe it down, then it was dirty, sticky, wet and smelled bad. We ordered and elected to take-out because the table and silverware were just too scary. The "food" was bland, pasty, unseasoned and just not good. My children insisted on coming here because their friends had been here. After this one horrible experience, I will never again endanger their health at this dive. read more
