Tinga machete was smaller than expected but good
    Johanna S.

Food was great but service was slow as they only had one cashier and one chef. The empanadas were crispy, cheesy, and light. The machete was good but smaller than expected. Burrito ordered was also smaller than other places. The chilaquiles were meh and wouldn't order again. I loved the spicy salsa.

My husband and I LOVE this place! We come here for dinner quite often, but last weekend we finally tried their breakfast. I got the breakfast burrito and it was absolutely delicious. For dinner, I really enjoyed their soup and my husband enjoys the empanadas. Not only is the food delicious, and homemade right in front of you, but it's also very reasonably priced.

First off I'm giving the ambiance of this place 5 stars The service 5 stars The food 3.8 stars Let me explain So from the outside this place looks decent. But when you walk in, everything opens up with the immediate inside a bit small, but an entire back patio that is gorgeous! As I said, the inside is a bit small but quaint and cozy, and the outside would be perfect for a nice little date night or just a nice time to relax outside. The back is gated in which is good because it's a corner lot that receives a bit of air so it protects against too much air. They have tomato plants growing in the back which adds the authentic vibes of this establishment. All in all - it's a clean, organized and vibey spot. The service was professional and to the point to which I have no complaints. The woman at the counter explained a few menu questions I had at the beginning very well and we were on our way to sit wherever we like. The food was good. I had the shrimp tacos and mom had the flautas. We both felt both plates were safe and lacking flavor. The presentation was perfect on both plates, although the flavors didn't quite compliment the presentation so that was a bummer. But that's a small fix in my opinion. On the other hand, the red and green salsas provided for guacamole and chips and the plates was probably one of the best salsas I've had in a long time. They were very bright, zesty, with a nice tang and bit of heat which was perfect. The salsas actually brought the flautas and the shrimp tacos to life which was the caveat to the whole thing. So if you're looking for a nice, inexpensive vibey little spot with good food - this place is worth a try. All in all, the only thing it's missing is a bit of love on the flavoring of the meat options The

Love Machete! Everything here is delicious and people are always friendly. Beer on the patio? Yes please! Before I tell you all the good stuff, know that this isn't fast food. You order at the counter and they make it fresh. So plan in advance to spend more than half hour here. Get a beer or sangria and have some nice conversation while you wait. They specialize in seafood and I haven't had any (vegetarian). My son has gotten the ceviche. It's a generous portion and ie beautifully plated. He said it was delicious. Tacos de Papa are really good! I like that a lot of their menu lets you choose the dish and then choose your protein or main component. And they have two veggie options! I have only had the mushrooms and they're fabulous! On the torta, the flavor soaks through the bread. So good! They have breakfast that you can get all day! How great is that? The juevos revueltos (scrambled eggs with potatoes ham and cheese) is tasty. You can get standards like breakfast burrito and juevos rancheros. There's also a breakfast torta. I'm partial to the mullette, bread with black beans and cheese. Simple, delicious, and enough for two meals. They do catering too! You need to inquire with the manager. We had a taco bar and horchata at a party and got rave reviews!

Leftover molletes breakfast enough for another serving at home with a good amount of guacamole and pico

First time trying and will definitely be back! The service was great and very fast considering they cook everything made to order in their open kitchen. I got the breakfast molletes plate with chorizo and my husband got the carne asada tacos with beans and rice. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I was only able to finish half of mine and had enough for a full serving later to enjoy. The breakfast also included delicious robust coffee with a hint of cinnamon. The seating outside was ample and had a cute ambience. I will try to come back to taste more of their food options but I'd definitely recommend based on my first impression!

Machete is a well kept secret! The beer is served in ice cold glasses. They make delicious fish tacos and I love the black beans. There is a small patio with good sunlight and heaters. It's a small place with mighty great flavors

I have only been here a handful of times but let me tell you, I have always left satisfied. The staff here are so sweet and genuine, I believe it's a family owned business and I enjoy every interaction with all of them. The space is small and I've never sat on their patio but it's the shadier side of the building which is nice, I know how hot it can be at the Stell's in the direct sunlight. I love the open kitchen where I can actually see my food being made too. The traditional ceviche is the best I've ever had (and I consider myself a ceviche snob). I drive from Calimesa to get it here because there's nowhere else that does it like Machete. Their burrito de camaron is excellent as well, shrimp is juicy as hell and it's so filling. Their watermelon agua Fresca is so refreshing and they have a happy hour/brunch period where they offer it free as well which is always a plus. I've tried their Al pastor torta and that was the only thing I was not a fan of but it was filling and I finished it nonetheless. Just not for me. Also, as a spicaholic, their super spicy salsa is divine with the perfect spice and flavor. I find it hard to find somewhere that does a good balance of both but machete is top notch. I can't stress enough though, if you are a ceviche fan, this is the place for you! And they season their chips to make it extra tasty. Love this place, as long as they're open, I'll keep coming back!!!! I give it 20/10 stars

First time here. The place was extremely clean, ambient was very nice and the food was very well made and above average. They had a large selection of food and we decided to pick all different dishes to try them out. My daughter had the tacos de papa, my son had a torta de asada, my wife the huarache and I had the shrimp burrito in addition to that we shared a machete de asada and they were all nicely plated and well made. BTW they all came with a side of our choosing and we had esquite and beans. The service was nice, there was a BD party outside in the garden and they had a DJ and were kind enough to share their Nothing bunt cake with my kids. Inside the place you could not hear a peep of the music which was also nice for the people inside. Highly recommended!

Is there any vegan options besides potato tacos?

Yes! I am vegan and I've eaten here twice. I've talked to the owner about what's vegan, here's the list: -Both the flour and corn tortillas are vegan (no lard)…

    Any taco Tuesday specials?

Taquito Tuesdays at Machete... get three chicken taquitos for $5 or five for $6.50. Hope to see you there!

Did the owner finally put out salsa cups?

Yes there are cups. I also fail to see why this would be an issue and Machete in my mind is the best Mexican food in the IE right now.

Is anything here vegan (or vegetarian)? I see it comes up in a search for vegan but if the beans aren't and the potatoes aren't I'm wondering...

Yes! So I just ate here (I'm vegan) and I asked lots of questions. Both the corn tortillas and flour tortillas are vegan. The beans do have lard in them so they aren't vegan unfortunately. The rice is vegan, as well as the mushrooms and the squash.…

    Are the beans Vegetarian?

The beans do have a little bit of lard but, are only used in our sopes and huaraches. You can always request these items without the beans.

    Do you have Vegan menu?

Yes! I am vegan and I've eaten here twice. I've talked to the owner about what's vegan, here's the list: -Both the flour and corn tortillas are vegan (no lard)…

Do they have potato tacos (no meat)?

Their potato tacos have chorizo. But they have 2 vegetarian tacos. One is calabasitas (zucchini) and a mushroom one. Both delicious!!! Maybe if you ask they can make a potato one. The owners are super nice!!

There is so much to like about the brewery, and so much this place has to offer that I can only ask that you experience it yourself. To name a few highlights of the brewery... first of all it is one of the more chill places to go to. The ambiance of Ritual Brewery is casual, friendly, and welcoming. The staff here are all awesome! They have a nice size indoor and outdoor seating area for visitors. They are family and dog friendly. They have a new brew for everyone to discover and enjoy. My personal favorite is the Extra Red. I tried just about their whole menu over some time and at least half-a-dozen visits before deciding which one was my favorite. Moreover, if you walk in looking for a specific kind of beer, you might as well go pick that beer up at the store and stay out. This brewery is a place to experience and appreciate new beers. Many of their beers are IPAs, Ales, Pale Ales, and Blondes. Check out the picture of their menu to get a better idea of all that they have. Not to mention, they have very reasonable prices for their drinks compared to probably most breweries - so don't be a Sorry Sue and complain about how the prices for a beer is expensive and that only the soda is good - but you had the nerve to visit 10 times. Oh! Also, there is often an excellent food vendor there most nights, so you can get a meal with your drink. CHEERS!

For most of the night, I had a great time minding my own business, watching videos quietly on my phone in a corner of the bar. As I was getting ready to leave, a random guy sitting nearby asked me to lower the volume on my phone. Whether he intended to be polite or not, it felt condescending, territorial, and completely unnecessary. They were speaking louder than my phone, yet somehow my phone was the issue. It honestly felt like a case of "local syndrome," where someone felt empowered to tell me what to do in a place that isn't theirs. I didn't want to create a scene, so I generously tipped the bartender and left. But I was genuinely upset that I was told to be quiet while I was simply minding my own business in a corner. The place itself does not deserve a bad review because of the actions of one customer. However, if this person is in any way connected to management or staff, I would seriously reconsider my rating and change it to one star--something I never done before. I think a little more compassion and understanding toward fellow customers would go a long way.

Hey Brian, I wanted…read moreto reach out about something that happened tonight that I feel you should know about. I also want to be clear that all of this transpired after you had already left for the evening. For context, I'm a regular at the bar and have been coming in for quite a while. I've never had a major issue with Brent or Steven, even though they both have personalities that can come across as sarcastic or abrasive. I've generally let it go because my reason for coming to the bar is simple: I come in to have a few beers, relax, and enjoy myself. Tonight, while I was still drinking one of my beers and had some left in the glass, Brent came by and took it away as if I was finished. I jokingly said something along the lines of, "I guess you're not going to let me finish the last bit." I wasn't upset and wasn't trying to start an argument. It was an obvious mistake that could have been solved with a simple apology. Instead, he responded with a snarky comment rather than acknowledging the mistake. Later, he brought another beer to my table. I made eye contact with him and before I could even say anything, he asked, "Do you want to say something to me?" I replied, "No, I just wanted to say thank you." His response was, "Your eyes are telling me differently." Again, I found that unnecessarily confrontational and disrespectful. At that point, I decided to leave a $0 tip. I normally tip very well, often around 30% or more, and this was the first time I've intentionally left no tip because I wanted to send a message that I was unhappy with the way I was being treated. After that, Steven came over and confronted me about leaving no tip. He asked if I was really zeroing it out and questioned me about whether something had happened between me and Brent. I told him that whatever issue I had was not his concern, and he responded, "Fair enough." I assumed that would be the end of it. Instead, Brent came outside and confronted me. He told me Steven had said I had a problem with him. I explained that I didn't have a personal problem with him; my issue was his attitude and the way he was treating me as a customer. Rather than listening, he became increasingly hostile. I reminded him that I'm a customer and that I'm only there to buy beer from the business. I'm not there to deal with sarcasm, attitude, or an employee's emotions. As a paying customer, the minimum I expect is basic respect. I shouldn't have to walk on eggshells or accept being spoken to disrespectfully while simply trying to enjoy a beer. That confrontation ended poorly and he went back inside. A short time later, he came back out and confronted me again, this time in front of other customers. The situation became even more uncomfortable because it was happening publicly. During that exchange, he ultimately told me that I was not welcome back. Again, I reminded him that I am a paying customer whose only purpose in being there is to support the business and enjoy a beer. I should not be getting into arguments with employees, being confronted in front of other patrons, or being told I'm not welcome because I expressed concerns about how I was being treated. The bigger issue is that, in my opinion, this isn't just about tonight. This has been months in the making. I've noticed a pattern with both Brent and Steven where they seem to have become comfortable treating customers with attitude and sarcasm in ways that shouldn't be acceptable in a customer-facing role. I've overlooked it many times because I enjoy the bar and didn't think it was worth making an issue out of. On the other hand, employees like Kim, Josh, and David have always treated me and other customers with professionalism and respect. They know how to joke around while still making customers feel welcome. I've never had an issue with them. From my perspective, the problem is specifically Brent and, to a lesser extent, Steven. Brent especially has developed a demeanor that I find unwelcoming, confrontational, and disrespectful toward customers. I don't think I'm the only person who feels this way. Tonight was simply the point where it crossed a line. I'm not sending this because I want anyone fired or punished. I simply think you should know what happened, especially since it all occurred after you had left. I've spent a lot of time and money at your establishment over the years, and I would hope that customers--especially regulars--can expect basic courtesy and respect from the people serving them. I wanted to give you my side of the story directly. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Although their prices are high, $16 for a torta, it's usually worth it, because their portions are quite generous. Earlier today, I ordered a torta to go, and I ended up extremely disappointed when I got home. It had literally half the meat, half the beans, and half the cheese that it normally does. This was the first time I'd been disappointed with their food, but I decided to call and express my dissatisfaction. I was passed to the manager who handled the situation in the most unprofessional way. I explained the issue to him, and he insisted that my torta today had the same amount of meat, beans, and cheese as always. I disagreed with him, and he responded angrily, "Everybody makes mistakes!" He raised his voice and repeated it a couple of times. It was completely bizarre that he chose to speak to me as if I was the one who'd done something wrong. It's very childish to do a subpar job and then get upset and frustrated when you're called on it. An adult apologizes and pledges to not blow it again. Anyhow, I don't tolerate disrespectful people so I'm done. I won't spend another penny there.
