There were 4 of us after the Rockies last game for the season, and all of us enjoyed margaritas and tacos. It's slightly noisy, ever so slightly snobby, but your server will make you feel appreciated once you're in! There are high top tables, dining tables, and a bar for watching sports. The food is great quality and very filling. They serve a skinny margarita which I love in addition to many other margaritas and drinks. Our server was really friendly and attentive. FOOD I went with the hangar, rib, chicken and pastor tacos because it was happy hour. $3 tacos are a pretty solid deal. The chicken taco was a little salty, but it wasn't dry at all, so I can appreciate that. The hangar was pretty bland and chewy. I wasn't the biggest fan of this one. The pastor was really tender, but again a little bland. I wish there was a little more marinade or a more flavorful salsa to pair with this one. The pastor was my favorite. So do all the restaurants in Denver have awful service? Or did we just get super unlucky on our trip? This is another place that was saved by their good food. The service was bad the entire time. We were sat fairly quickly but then nobody ever came to serve us. The restaurant was busy so we were cool with waiting but it became ridiculous. We even watched other people get sat in our area after and get served and we never even had someone acknowledge we were there. Eventually I saw people leave the bar so we just went and took those seats. The service was *slightly* better at the bar. So they service was bad but the food and drinks were actually really good. The margaritas were good and so was the guac and chips. But the tacos were fantastic. Between the two of us we probably had 7-8 different ones and each one was better than the next. read more

Definitely a deviation from the authentic taquerias I generally gravitate towards, but excellent nonetheless. Tortillas tasted fresh, meats are well-seasoned and perfectly charred, and toppings are thoughtfully combined and complement each other very well. Tacos were more expensive than your local place might be, but they were also relatively large and generally stacked nicely with fillings - I would say 3-4 should be enough to satisfy most appetites. I can't recommend the campechano enough; The steaky bits were great, the chorizo had an awesome flavor, the avocado salsa verde had a nice kick, and the generous portion of queso Oaxaca tied it all together perfectly. The poc-chuc was probably my next favorite, with perfectly grilled pork pairing wonderfully with sweet, savory salsa negro and the roasty flavors of smoked avocado/carmelized onions. The camaeron was wonderfully seasoned and the poblano pesto was spectacularly creamy and flavorful, pairing nicely with sweet pickled radish. Others I tried were the Al Pastor (good, though fairly standard), and the pescado, which was probably the only miss for me. I actually wandered into Machete by mistake. I wanted to go to Milk Market, but it was closed for a private event, which led me here. Guess it all worked out in the end, because I enjoyed my food and time here. Highlights: - Yummy tacos: I ordered the arrachera and the pollo rostizado tacos. Great flavor - the pollo rostizado had a spicy kick to it. Yum! - Delicious queso fundido. Add the spicy chorizo to it. Nothing better than melty cheese. - Great service. There was a long waitlist of diners, but I never felt rushed once. I don't normally dally about at a busy restaurant anyway, but it was nice that I didn't feel pushed to eat and leave, especially on a busy Friday evening. Other thoughts: - Interesting margaritas. I got the skinny margarita, which was good. A friend ordered the coconut flavored margarita (the kona). It was delicious, but according to my friend, wasn't as strong. Here is the deal. I've been coming here for 5 years. The manager needs to learn how to run a restaurant/bar. The staff is amazing. Still friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, makes amazing food and drinks. The decor has and still is amazing. The manager needs to lean how to manage customers. We ordered a few rounds of margaritas and all were delicious! They have so many different kinds - my fav was the Day in Tulum which had cucumber and mint. I LOVE tacos , and Machete tacos & tequila seemed like a fun place to have a drink and grab a few tacos . This Machete is located by Union Station. Parking can be very tricky. I decided to park in a nearby parking garage. It was about a 2 minute walk. Not far at all. Walked right up without reservations or anything , the host was so sweet and he helped us right away. Our party of 6 was seated immediately in a private room. All the guys we came with were wearing their UFC masks and they put the TV in the private room to ESPN without prompting or anything. Nice touch. Our server was just the nicest gal. We ordered waters, sodas, margaritas, chips and salsa, and guacamole. That all came back within 5-8 minutes. Not long at all. They have lots of beers and tequilas. As well as specialty house drinks. Tacos can be ordered individually or as a plate with rice and beans. They have a handful of specialty entrees as well. My roommate ordered a steak quesadilla. He said it was fantastic steak. Food was served after about 10 minutes after the order was taken. Service the entire time was fantastic. I love tacos, authentic Mexican tacos, new trendy versions of tacos and I especially like little tacos. This place was a win for me. I had been once a while back, to their other location. But the menu changes and this was in an area we were visiting. The style of this location is very different too. I really liked it. Also, be aware that the sample menus online are just that, samples. One of my choices was no longer available, but it was easy to pick something else new and different. It was an early lunch so we passed on the margaritas, but the selection is large and many sounded great. I had one at their other location that was very tasty and definitely too potent for our plans this time. I had the al pastor taco with pork. And I had clever and colorful vegetarian option, with a poblano stuffed with eggplant, zucchini and corn, covered with cotija cheese inside a bright purple hibiscus corn tortilla. They were both wonderful. My husband had one of their chicken taco options and one with pulled pork. He clearly enjoyed them as I watched from across the table. The service was good. Lots of business people on lunch, several in larger groups having what appeared to be work discussions. It was a midweek noontime but, though busy, seating was not a problem. The decor is modern ethnic and it was quite interesting. The display of artisan tequilas was huge and nicely arranged near the entrance. I will definitely stop in here again. read more

I loved the tequila on display right as you walk in. We arrived right as a football game started, so the energy was already pumping. Our waitress was expressive, shared her opinions on the food options, and steered us in the direction of some great flavors. We started with the shishito peppers, which were excellent and served with dipping sauce. After also trying the guacamole and 4 salsa appetizer (very good, especially the green verde salsa), I dove into my entree selections, which included an arrechera, campechano, and an al pastor. The al pastor and arrechera were both quite good, but the standout option was clearly the campechano. Something about the way the Oaxaca cheese and the chorizo blended together... heaven!
