What kind of fish do they use for the ceviche and pescado sudado?

    It's tilapia.

I am part of a group who is trying to find a restaurant willing to do a cooking demonstration in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. Is this something Machu Picchu might be interested in doing?

I would certainly suggest you contact the owners. I know them fairly well. This maybe something their interested in doing. I can also notify them today of the inquiry.

I love this place, but my vegan husband wants to know if there is anything he can eat here?

Yes there are several plates which you can request vegetables only. It certainly depends on your husband's preference but I'm certain the chef's their can accommodate your request. Authentic Peruvian is #1 @ Machu Picchu. #EveryWednesday

My son and I have been hungry for Peruvian food for a while now. We decided to give Rocoto's a try…read morebecause we like the sound of some menu items that we had never had before. The venue is very pleasant. We were the only ones speaking English during our visit. The Spanish I was hearing was not a local dialect. I feel like the other patrons were probably from Peru, although one man sounded Columbian. Anyway... we knew we were in for a treat. We ended up having a four course meal. The first course was a delicious (and huge) tamal wrapped in banana leaves. The masa was thick, very moist, and tasted like it was made with a very delicious broth. That was followed by anticuchos which are grilled slices of beef heart. They came with some slices of roasted potato. I thought they were seasoned really well, but my son thought they were too salty. For our main course, we both had cau cau (Peruvian beef tripe stew) served with a small bowl of white rice. It was very delicious. The trip was cooked perfectly- not chewy, but not gelatinous. For dessert, we each had an alfador (Peruvian short bread cookies filled with a layer of Dulce de Leche and topped with powdered sugar). They were sheer perfection! The shortbread was as soft and flaky as my Mother's. We each drank a Chicha Morado. It was a sweet purple drink with cinnamon in it. I loved it. We only came in contact with two of the staff. They were both super helpful and very pleasant.

It's been years since I last had it and went to some restaurant on Blanco and West Ave but it didn't remain in business for long. I ordered pollo a la brasa with black beans and green rice and a glass of Inka Kola, a yellow soda with a sweet, bubble gum taste. The chicken was very good and arrived with 3 salsas. For dessert, I ordered 2 alfajores to go. For those who don't know they are just the Peruvian answer to Oreo cookies and Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies but so much better than those. Dulce de leche between 2 thick and crumbly shortbread cookies. I would recommend putting them in the fridge before consuming instead of eating them at room temperature. Next time I come here I might try either the lomo saltado or some of their appetizers.

Food: Interesting fusion cuisine with a focus with a focus on taste while keeping freshness and wellness in the frame. Even the cocktails have herbs and spices that balance taste and health. The happy hour bites are reasonably sized and priced. Service: excellent. Servers constantly clearing used plates, topping up water glasses and checking in on whether we needed anything else or another cocktail. I recommend checking this out. A great first date dinner place.

Note, you can ask to add salmon, chicken, or chicken sausage to anything We started with the Cilantro Coconut Guacamole, which was such a unique combo with blackberries and mesquite tortillas. We also started out by trying their soup of the day which was a Brazilian recipe and it was SO good. Fresh, comforting, and full of flavor. As far as entrees we ordered the Spice Route Beets were vibrant and flavorful. We added salmon on the side. We also ordered the Pharm Kitchari (with chicken sausage added) was wholesome and well balanced. Oh and the vanilla bean mesquite latte is sooo darn delicious. I had two and still want more. Smooth, slightly smoky, and not too sweet. If you want food that tastes clean, fresh, and delicious, this spot is a must.
