So I was pretty excited to use a coupon from their new app to get a free flatbread for dinner. Made the mistake of going to the wrong Mac River. I forgot this location doesn't serve alcohol other than beer, first failure but that was my mistake. Okay. So I order a tea with sweetener on the side and lodgepoles with ranch for an appetizer for our table. Our drinks came, except for the sweetener. Okay, I'll manage, plain tea is alright. Our appetizer never showed, salad and a bowl of chili did about 20 minutes after we sat. The person that brought those said he'd go check on the lodge poles. Chicken chili was mediocre, nothing to write home about, but not bad. Then our appetizer came with all of our food, waitress tells us the app was taken off the ticket. Okay, that's cool I guess. At this point I am pretty hungry after a long day and a long wait, I dive in to eat my food I've been waiting to get. Just kidding. There's definitely a hair in the melted cheese. This isn't a hair from the top of someone's head, for sure a beard hair or lower body. Awesome. Okay. I'm done eating now. App comp'd, chili comp'd, flatbread comp'd. No thank you, I don't want a dessert, I don't feel like giving this place an opportunity to screw that up too. And my bill was $2.50 for my plain tea. read more

For quasi-corporate pizza, this is pretty damn good. They have a decent, if a bit chewy, gluten-free crust and their salads can't be beat. The variety of toppings is more extensive than anywhere I've found in the valley, and although it can get expensive to build-your-own, you can get a stellar combination this way. There will be children at MRP, you were warned. They may be the screeching variety. Ask the waitress to give them the free goldfish crackers and hopefully they'll settle down. Good regional microbrews on tap and fast, friendly service. Take out is good as well. Thumbs up all around! read more

I have been here several times in the past and was not impressed with the taste of the pizza although the selection looks wonderful. This evening I had a BBQ Pizza with the hand tossed crust and I did the make your own pizza with red onion, Italian sausage, and jalapenos. The trick that I found is to ask for extra sauce. I wish I could write a better review because their staff was great and service was good. The pizza, however, wasn't so great. I ordered their tomato basil pizza and a wedge salad. The salad was good, but had a little too much dressing. For a thin crust, margherita-style pizza, there was way too much sauce and sliced tomatoes. The pizza had so much sauce that it oozed from the sides. The tomatoes were mealy and placed underneath the mozzarella, which made the crust soggy. The crust tasted like a saltine cracker, which didn't enhance the flavor of anything else. My sister liked her sandwich and my mom enjoyed her pizza. I think my expectation was high. When the word 'pizza' is in the name of the restaurant, and the pizza is subpar, it's disappointing. read more

The food was pretty good. The menu and choices were amazing! I only tried three things. The Greek salad was five stars. The dressing was 10! The Thai pizza was different and almost bbq tasting to me. The other pizza was bacon and chicken with a salad on top. Not enough flavor. Not sure why. My kids ate all the lodge poles (cheese bread sticks) so I think they liked them. The kids pizza are huge. They'd be worth sharing. The kids pasta we got without sauce and my daughter said there was no flavor. (She was the one who said no sauce!) Our waitress Betsy was like seven months pregnant and was a ROCK STAR! She deserved every penny of our tip and more. We weary out of towners were gratefully for her kindness,suggestions,constant refills (before I even realized I needed one!!!) and hospitality. She made the trip over the top. Service was good. Would have liked our waiter, Sam, to clear empty plates as we finished but it is our only complaint. The boys split a large pizza and log poles (cheesy breadsticks) while my husband enjoyed a gluten free bbq pizza. I had the Mackenzie Alfredo and it was super good and they substituted black olives in for the tomatoes. Be prepared to open your wallet, before tip our bill was $48! Beer soup that had burned pan scrapings, chicken chili that tastes terrible and had yesterday's chicken in it, terrible caeser dressing, wilted lettuce in salad. Well, unfortunately MacKenzie River is hit or miss for service and consistent food and much of this depends on which one you go to and when you go. They serve what one might call "Northwest Pizza," a non-New York style, non-greasy, sometimes bland, one-dimensional but not terrible and sometimes kinda interesting pizza. No one pizza really stands out here as recommendable in my book. Hot Hawaiian is decent and the Thai pizza is pretty good. My all time favorite thing at MacKenzie is their Thai salad. The dressing is outta this world. If everything there was made with the love in this dressing, this place would be 5 stars. But sadly, this is the only thing I consistently crave from there. (And I hear their Kalispell North location isn't going to serve it. What?!? They're crazy!!). Pizzas are around $11 for a small, $18 for a large). Sandwiches are decently priced at $8-9 a piece. Service is not consistent and often times slow. But get this: You are in Montana now. Fantastic, CONSISTENT service only exists at a few locations in the valley (Showthyme and Echo Lake Cafe in Bigfork, Alley Connection and Sykes in Kali, and Tupelo and Lula's). And none of those are pizza places. There might be a couple more...but not many. My drift is that great customer service in NorthWest Montana is rare and so to expect it at MacKenzie is asking a lot (a Montana-made company). And there really isnt an AMAZING pizza place either. Moose's or Scottibellis are the best in Kali or 2nd Street in Whitefish. Our experience this time was slow, decent, but she forgot about us a coupla times. Traveling through Kalispell, thought we would try this place out. Service was extremely slow. It took more than 30 minutes to get a small pizza and a pulled pork sandwich. The pizza was cold and tasteless. The pulled pork sandwich was on a hard, stale, over cooked bun with no BBQ sauce. It had to be sent back. Yet another wait. When it finally arrived, it was edible. I would not recommend this restaurant, the service was poor and food less than marginal. Save your time and money! read more

I ordered the Tai Pie Pizza, when the server brought it out it had been sliced into 4 large pieces. I asked the server if she could take the pizza to the back and have it cut again. When she brought it back to me she said profusely that this isn't my fault I didn't do this! The pizza had been cut up into a million pieces. She asked if it was "ok" and I said no and asked for the Manager. He put in a new order for me and told me that the server said that the pizza had been cut into the standard eight slices when I had sent it back to be cut into more manageable slices which was a lie. This place is totally underated! Super yummy, great fast service, great prices. We had the Caribbean​ chicken pizza --- awesome! The artichoke dip was even better. Don't use the Yelp directions, it will take you out in the middle of nowhere. Go straight to Google maps. Wish we would have had some room for desserts, but the portions were just too big. read more

We visited this location on a Thursday evening, the restaurant was slow during our visit. Food was average at best, I received a suggestion from a local client that this specific location was good. We ordered salad with a pizza, the food wait time felt like an eternity. This place had an open kitchen, we continuously heard swearing and NOT family friendly conversations. The worst part of our experience was to hear the berating of employee's. On our way out we noticed the( B-) health code rating tucked behind a bear statue. The group of people I was with talked me into giving this place another chance. The service was absolutely terrible. It took forever to even see the waitress after we were seated by the hostess. Forever to get drinks, forever for check, forever to get a to go box...Our waitress was literally terrifying. We all felt scared to even ask for anything that may inconvenience her. She made us feel unwelcome from the first interaction to the last. We had room for dessert but we turned it down because we were so eager to get the heck away from her unfriendliness.
