Online order of 2 orders of lodgepoles, 1 order of pesto lodgepoles, 2 salads and the penne chicken Alfredo without tomato's or broccoli. Food is always good however, the Alfredo did not have chicken and was penne and sauce only. The lodgepoles did not have marinara or ranch and the two orders of plain lodgepoles were placed in one large box. Be sure to specify they need to be separated if need be. (Iwas ordering one order to my husband at work and another for home).They do not have plastic ware for to go orders so plan ahead as we had to stop at a convenience store for forks. We were celebrating our granddaughters birthday last night and had a hard time finding a restaurant that was either open or not packed. We decided to try this location and after only a 20 minute wait were seated. Our server Gabriella greeted us with a smile and efficiently took our drink orders which she quickly delivered. We then ordered and again she was patient as some of our party debated on their order. Because it was so busy and the restaurant was short staffed we assumed there would be delay in getting our food. While it took a little longer than normal we were served more quickly than we anticipated. The food was hot, attractively presented and delicious! Gabriella was attentive and very gracious. I was in the restaurant business for over 50 years and I am probably more critical than most but last night I was very impressed! It's too bad there is such a shortage of willing workers this year, this restaurant was unable to use all of their tables. First off, it took 5 minutes to get seated. We really were not looking for pizza, but we took a look at the menu and decided for the all you can eat soup and salad. Well don't order that, cause there isn't a salad bar it has to be brought by the waitress who was completely overloaded and barely could serve us. We got a cesare salad which was decent but too much dressing and too many croutons. We did a $1 upgrade to Chili since the only soup they had was "cheese"..this should have been my queue to get the heck out of this place. This place has never disappointed us. It's always a good sign when you just can't make a decision because all of the pizza options sound so delicious! Because who can sacrifice one kind for another, they let you split the types on one tray. We were stoked to be able to try more this way. We have been pleased with MacKenzie River Pizza Co. in the past. We ordered four pizzas this evening and they were terrible. The "regular crust" was thin, floppy and doughy. We ordered two Hawaiians and two Ranchers. They were overrun with jalapeños. Who puts jalepenos on what was supposed to be pineapple and ham? A couple of pieces of pineapple and no ham. We were well pleased with our meal here. The line was huge at 7pm, but we were seated within 20 minutes. As the name suggests, there is plenty of pizza to choose from and also create your own options. I had the Greek pizza. It came loaded with kalamata olives and feta cheese. The flavor was excellent. "Meh" pizza (nothing special-heavy on the cheese, light on the toppings), horrible service, will never go again. I'll break this down in three parts. 1-The hostess. We arrived late (9:00, they close at 10:00) with a group of 6+my baby boy. We were quickly seated. The problem was, though we told them upfront that we needed a highchair and their restaurant was only half-full, she placed us in a high traffic area of the restaurant in booths much higher than the highchair they offered. When our server arrived he asked if we'd like to be moved, but they came up with a solution for our highchair and we pressed onward. Definitely an awkward start. 2-Sevice. Our server had a strong start-getting our drink orders, and suggesting an appetizer, which we ordered. He brought our waters, but five minutes later we still didn't have our sodas. He finally arrived with the sodas about 10 minutes in, with the appetizer, but hurried off before we could place an order. Another 15 minutes pass, and we realize he has taken the orders of people who arrived long after us, but still hasn't placed ours. Another 5-10 minutes pass before we flag him down, and ask if we can palce our order. When our food arrives (another 25 minutes later!, we're now an hour into this meal) he tells us the cooks "messed up" one of our pizzas. We eat the two that have arrived, another 20 minutes pass before we see the last pizza. 3-Food. We ordered the "lodge poles", which was cheese bread with a pesto sauce, served with house-made ranch. They were good, nothing special, but good. I ordered a house salad-mixed greens, pears, grape nuts, and the house vinegrette-it was lovely! (a 4-star salad on it's own). As we were in a large group, we ordered quite a bit-one large sausage pizza, a small chicken alfredo, and a small thai pizza. I ordered the thai, and did not try the other pizza's, but they all seemed to have the same strengths and weaknesses-good crust, quality cheese but too much of it, and very few toppings. These pizzas were similar to a chain food pizza joint, but twice as expensive. Moral of the story? Skip it. Go find some good Montana BBQ instead. :) read more

Stopped in and tried the beet salad without much in terms of expectation. The salad was presented on a sizeable bed of arugula but this was not a dinner sized position. Someplace between side salad and dinner portion. It seemed about a third smaller than the dinner sized Greek salad. The right amount of beets was present but just two or three slices more would have made a better impression. The amount of cheese was just right but it was clumped together. If it had been spread around a little more it would have also helped with the presentation. But overall a good fresh salad for a reasonable price. Service was relaxed, stead and busy during the lunch rush. There was a steady stream of patrons coming and going. From white collar office staff to skilled construction workers coming in out of the elements. The atmosphere is social and lively. I have heard that this Mackenzie River is one of the first original ones in Kalispell. They have one that is a grill now by the Costco and then a Whitefish location. Upon entering, my husband and I had to wait a little bit to get seated, I don't think the hostess was around or knew we were waiting for a table. Upon someone else entering and waiting up at the stand thing, they had pointed to us to let her know we had been there first and then she had said she didn't know if we were waiting for someone or something. It ended up being no big deal because we were joining a couple anyways, and they were running a little later than us so no big deal. We got the lodgepoles, spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer, the sequoia pizza gluten free, and then my husband got the chicken penne pasta which he hadn't ever had but one of my friends said was amazing so he tried it. All in all another amazing experience at Mackenzie River! OH, and the moscato wine is delicious. This location only serves beer and wine and does not serve burgers. Select locations only have a full bar and grill and the closest location to this one is the one right by the Starbucks across from Lowes and Costco. read more

You can definitely find something for everyone to eat, specifically pies. I appreciated the variety of meaty pies and veggie alike and everything in between. Specifically, the I will say that the spinach-artichoke dip (which really should be basic and lack too many bells and whistles) lacks the necessary qualities of a dip: too runny and an overpowering sour cream flavor. Yes, I know pizza is the name of the game, but you gotta offer some OK apps in my book. It was reasonably tasty. Wife had the black bean burger and fries. Perfectly good stuff. Decent selection of beers on tap. I wish we'd had time to explore the menu at a few more meals. Split a large veggie pizza with couple with few extra toppings, a couple of beers and the mud pie to end with. Pizza was good albeit a bit greasy on the top. Was expecting a generous chocolate drizzle on the mud pie. Disappointed to not see any. We reached Kallispell pretty late and not many restaurants were open. Let me first start off by saying that this is a chain, thus my rating scale is based off of that fact (meaning 1 to 5 stars in relation to chain restaurants). MRPC goes for the rustic rural log cabin feel, which in my opinion, they pull off quite nicely. In my experience, the ambiance of a restaurant DOES have the ability to make or break a place so MRPC gets a thumbs up in that regard. Service was/is excellent the many times I have gone into the various locations which, to me, reflects the importance upper management places on patron satisfaction. Another thumbs up here. Beer selection- As an individual who, in times past, has been rather acquainted with the art of alcohol consumption, I find Mac River well above the established par. With traditional big name brands nowhere to be found (which I struggle to even label as beer), a rotating beer selection of microbrews is quite refreshing. For an appetizer, Lodge-poles (bread sticks), which I cannot help but call log-poles every-time I order, are fantastic. I order the Buffalo Wing Pizza with no celery (which they put right on top of the pizza?!) and walk out happy as can be. If you are in the mood for some pizza and you are not in the Jersey/NY area, this place is a good bet. read more
