Food: We had pizzas, salads, and a pasta dish among four people. The food was pretty good. I had a pepperoni pizza that was above average. We live in the Coeur D'Alene area and have a MacKenzie River Pizza near us. Ours is much larger with a bigger menu than the one in Whitefish. Service: Poor to Horrible. Waitress greeted us at the podium and immediately started complaining that she was overworked and it would take awhile to seat our party of four. Apparently every other server scheduled that night called in sick or no showed. I have no idea whether this is a usual or unusual occurrence with this restaurant. Every time the waitress passed by a table she would make a comment about how hard she was working and it was getting kind of tiring. Just finished my food- we ordered on line and picked food up. I had General Tso bowl served over jasmine rice. The rice was instant and not fully cooked. Granted, it may not be a popular item and my argument is it is ON THE MENU. Even if I'm first person to order this dish in forever, it is on your menu so make it right. I love MacKenzie River Pizza Co., because it's locally founded. The food is good and I really like the Baked Ziti is my favorite to go to dish. The service could be better with communication among staff waited for about 15 minutes after being seated, due to the hostess not informing the waitress. There new payment method, isn't that great, but that's my own personal perspective. I did like the kiosk that they used to have on the table better, but I guess the times have changed. The floors under the tables were filthy and disgusting looking. I almost walked out before the waitress came over. It seemed that there was some serious laziness going on among some staff members. This location had really gotten our hopes up. My girlfriend and I really like the Kalispell location and so we decided to try the Whitefish location since we live closest to it. When we walk in, we notice it's not busy whatsoever so we thought we were going to get good, fast service. When we were seated, it took our server about 15 minutes to even come up to us and take our order (From our perspective, it looked like she was only serving two other tables. Like I said, it wasn't busy at all). I ordered a Coors Light draft and when I had gotten it, it looked almost carbonated and tasted very very watered down. So I settled for a bottle of Corona instead. And I ordered a small pizza with ground beef. We then had to wait about 45 more minutes until we had received our food and my pizza was lukewarm/almost cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Overall, we definitely weren't too pleased with our experience. If you can, make the drive to Kalispell. It will be much more worth it. read more

If this certain employee was wearing a name tag I'd put her name here. When we first walked in it was pretty much empty. When we got sat down we got welcomed with this young waitress who processed to tell us she was under 21, and when taking our drinks she took half the tables order of drinks and tried leaving before she was done with the other half. Then we waited about 1 hour for our food. There was 2 tables behind us that got there drinks and salad and food within 20 mins compare to our hour wait. When we told our waitress what the deal was and how much longer our food would be she said they was understaffed but the table got there food before us? So this argument doesn't make sense to me. She processed to not check on our table even by walking by. We stoped her for refills and she only brought 1 refill out of 4 refills. She kept forgetting our drinks and food and our order in general. I also just have a feeling after being confronted about our food taking long she seemed to be very annoyed by our table if we asked for things like extra napkins or refills. After we ate our food we waited another 25 mins just to get the check. There was different charges for happy hour prices on our drinks so we had to wait even longer for her to try to fix our order. I'm not sure if the manager needs to have a talk with this waitress or staff overall. Would I come back ? Most definitely not! Would I recommend to anyone to this place ? Most definitely not! We were SO impressed by Mackenzie River and pizza co. we needed our food asap because we were catching the train, and Bonnie, our server was so friendly and kind.. let us in before restaurant was officially open, took order quickly and went back to ask chefs to get done right away, got our drinks ready while we waited and double checked everything to make sure it was right! Management does not measure!!! When I arrived, everyone was a 45 min wait and didn't matter what size of party. One host and she kept leaving the host stand and talk in the back so no greeting at the host when guest walked in which turns guest away. All this happening while the manager ok the back making pizzas. This is an example of poor management. Also, trash on the floor while several employees just walk right by it and after 10th associate walking by, they pick it up. To top it off, at 9pm while several parties waiting to be seated, the host walks out. I spoke with the male manager that was making pizzas and not managing, response was that she was 15 and has to go home. I asked who was going to manage the host stand to get guests seated and his response was that the servers would monitor it and serve tables. I left and ate across the street and had better service. Giving two stars for the employees that are courteous and pleasant. Now the food is a totally different story. The review is on the pizza because that is what we ordered and we are at a pizza place. We ordered the regular crust pizza with pepperoni. When the pizza came and I looked at it, I thought they made a mistake because the crust looked pretty thin , but the server told me that it was the regular crust. Ok, I started to eat it anyway and noticed that the dough was semi raw and pizza was salty. This pizza is probably one of the worst that I have had. MacKenzie was a pleasant surprise. I thought it was going to an ordinary pizza joint , but the menu was really diverse! We settled on the Going to the Sun Flatbread and the Jalapeño Popper Dip. We arrived and were seated immediately which was nice because there was 7 of us. The waitress took our drink order and we received our drinks. After that it went downhill. We told her we needed just a couple minutes to pick our meals and she disappeared for probably 15 minutes. She took our order and then didn't come back and check our table for at least 25 minutes and only came to tell us the kitchen was out of a main ingredient on our pizza. I had to ask her for drink refills. It took another 40 minutes to get our food. One plate of pasta was Luke warm. The pizza was on flat crust when we asked for original crust. We can't stand thin crust pizza so it was extremely disappointing to not get a main ingredient and the wrong crust after waiting over an hour after ordering. I got a Cajun bowl and the rice was super dry and the flavor was decent. The chicken Alfredo bake was delicious but everything else was less than mediocre. I would not ever recommend this place for the food or the service. I could 100% understand if we were given a heads up about anything but we were not given any heads up and the restaurant was not even full. Don't waste your time or money in my opinion. My daughter recommended this place to try for lunch. She lives in Whitefish and knows this place well. I have to say the food was good. Not great but good. Our waitress was pretty much on top of taking our order and getting our drinks out quickly. Our food came out pretty quickly too. As for the pizza, it was on par with just average pizza. I have had much better but, I have had a heck of a lot worse. The prices were good and the overall feel of the place was nice. The waitstaff was frfor sure. Strong four stars for being that place you can go with a group and relax at a table without being rushed. Not much if anything seems to have changed since I was last here. Typical there are all new people working here. So not much point in tipping big or showing much commitment to the brand. But the food, drinks and service are on par. I'm dropping a star solely because it's just business as usual. No change, no updates, same menu. It seems to be working but without continuous improvements and changes things go stale. We planned on going to another pizzeria in town, due to the lower rating of this location on yelp, but when we pulled up to the other location- the pizza they offered wasn't what we were looking for. IM SO GLAD we tried MacKenzie River Pizza Co. WOW! Best pizza we have had in such a long time! We got a large pizza and did half the "Flathead" pizza and half the "BBQ chicken" pizza! We also got bread sticks. I wish we would've not gotten the bread sticks (they were yummy don't get me wrong) but the dessert pizza looked incredible and I wish we would've had room to try it. But wow the food and service was awesome, and the interior was beautiful, rustic modern, and enjoyable! Give this a try! read more

I will say that I have never been disappointed in the food. But my recent experience with their contracted delivery service will deter me from ordering again. It is unfortunate that their downtown location has limited parking or I most likely would stop in for a pick up order. I seldom leave negative reviews unless I was treated badly or ripped off. I normally love McKenzie River Pizza. But everytime I go the pizza seems a little less good. When they first opened in Bozeman some time ago, they were very good. Then they sold out and started going downhill. I ate at the Whitefish MR today and it was some of the worst pizza I've ever had . Not only that, their pizza menu had none of the good old originals like the Athena. Most of their pizzas on their current menu seemed too weird. I hope McKenzie River can recover their original quality someday...at least when it comes to their pizza. It's not likely I will ever go back. read more
