Great for standard pizza. Also the GF crust double baked, per the waitresses suggestion, was also one of the better ones I have had. The waitress was super pleasant, but overall the service was slow and the food didn't come out together. Late Sunday afternoon lunch was mellow in the 1/4 full restaurant. Our server Katie always provides excellent service! Friendly, attentive, not overly revisiting your table but also doesn't leave you hanging. My friend and I decided to split the Reuben - 2nd best Reuben I've ever had! The 1st best was at a now closed restaurant..so...I guess it's the #1 Reuben in the Flathead Valley! Perfectly proportioned meat to cheese to bread to sauerkraut to thousand island ratio. We also split the Tuscan penne with half Alfredo sauce. This was on an old menu and it was called the broadwater bay...it's seriously the best pasta in all the land! Light, but full of flavor. Food was okay. Nothing I was super impressed with. The service was VERY slow.. took 45 mins to get our food. But the main reason for my 1 star was the cleanliness of the restaurant.. our booth was filthy! And the restrooms had no paper towels. I even mentioned it right at the beginning and after I was there for a hour and a half I took my toddler in the restroom and there still wasn't any towels. I called excited that they have vegan options. On the phone they didn't tell me they weren't taking any more people for the night. We only arrived 3 minutes after the call. It is our first time in town and this is where we chose to eat because our son is kind of a picky eater. The kids menu was really reasonably priced. I had small salad was more like a large salad. I wanted this to be good. Previous reviews were mixed, and we thought we'd give it a try. The wait was 30 min, which seemed reasonable. We were seated by a friendly host, and drink orders quickly taken by a friendly waitstaff. Then we ordered. Two kids pasta (one buttered, one with red sauce), one kids mini corn dogs and a huckleberry salad with grilled chicken off the seasonal menu. Well...the food took 45-60 min. The pasta was fine...but definitely not worth 45-60 min, mini corn dogs were fine, and my salad was missing the candied walnuts (which when asked about I was informed they were out of walnuts)...so lettuce, huckleberry, cheese...thank goodness I added the chicken! We did order the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream dessert - it had a fancier name. And it was really good. But unfortunately the service is just way too slow...and the food was less than special. They're known for their pizza...so maybe we went wrong by not ordering that.... And maybe it was just an overly busy night... If you give them a try...maybe do an easy appetizer and order the pizza. read more

Grew up in Whitefish. I have gone to Mack Riv probably a hundred times...it continues to get WORSE. I couldn't even make it past the host stand today. 6 different employees either walked past me or just stared at me from the kitchen. No greeting, No smile. TERRIBLE SERVICE. What ever happened to like a team setting? They don't have it. No one was doing anything. ANYTHING. They were in a group chatting..for at like 6 minutes while I stood there. Finally a girl who looked like she was just bussing(working her butt off) welcomed me and I decided I didn't want to eat there. i don't even trust the food with the way these children were acting in the kitchen. We came here on our first night in whitefish because it was one of the only restaurants open until 10 pm. We ordered our food at 8:40 pm and arrived at 9:20 expecting that to be enough time to pick up and leave. Sadly, we ended up waiting until 10:15 because they forgot about us and when asking about our order the staff looked at each other not doing anything until someone finally looked up our order and picked it up off of the counter and handed it to us... it was sitting there for I don't know how long. This visit to MacKenzie River was awful. Our waiter Cody or Coby or Colleen was nice but way too overworked and overwhelmed which did not allow him to help his tables. When the food runner came to our table she was like "a pizza for you... I think?" She then forgot to give me and my guest plates so we had to ask the host who was a lovely person for plates. After that she filled our waters and asked how we were. We then waited for 10 minutes to receive our check because our server was "busy." And the food it was awful we had a small pizza it was greasy. Management seems rough and needs improvement. Do not come here until these issues have been resolved. Most other locations are well, but this one deserves a "Needs Improvement." read more

Took an hour for two small pizzas. Waitress told me after 30 minutes coming up. No drink refills until 45 minutes and the place was not busy a Sunday around three pm. Pizzas came one was ok was nothing spectacular. My pizza was ordered as traditional cheese and sausage hand toss small pizza. Was horrible they put some weird ingredients in the sauce and the pizza cheese not normal. Should have gone around the corner to the packed Jersey Boys. Very disappointed. Waiting an hour did get me 50% off my order and oh no sausage on my pizza. Hope that fancy sauce is not the normal sauce. read more

We have been to the 2 MacKenzie River Pizza Companies in Kalispell so wanted to try the Whitefish restaurant. We prefer the atmosphere and bar at the other two, but this one is alright. My husband's pizza was very good and he kept raving about it. He had chicken and white sauce. I had a flatbread which I have had at the Kalispell restaurant. Unfortunately, it was cooked way too much (reason for 4 stars), but the flavor was still great. What pulled the rating to a strong 4 was the service. We were impressed with our server. She was very nice and professional. She went down the beer list and quickly explained what each beer was like. She didn't rush us and was thorough and also so very attentive. World Class Pizza. We came here because of a recommendation from a friend. It did not disappoint. He said it was some of the best pizza he has ever had and our group of 10 today confirm that. Decided to give MacKenzie a second try and I'm glad I did. I reviewed their pulled pork sandwich in an earlier post and wasn't a fan but my husband and I decided to give it another shot. We sat in the dining room for our second visit and it was a lot quieter than the bar that was loud in our first visit. We had a terrific server who recommended their steak bites appetizer and both of us liked their flavor. Our entrées we're also good. I had their chicken panini and my husband had some kind of chicken alfredo. The food took awhile to come out but other than that we enjoyed this visit. read more

Contrary to other views, we didn't have any issues with the service. Our waitress was sweet, and attentive. We had our nachos within 15min of ordering them. Pizza was pretty good. The service was slow and they weren't even that busy. It was a first Thursday gallery night, and there were open tables the whole time we were there. It took us ~20 mins just to order appetizers, and we were there for almost 1.5 hours total when we were trying to get to the galleries before they closed up. We left MacKenzie River when I wanted to have finished up at the galleries, making it a late night. This was not a first for slow service that I experienced at this location. Next time I won't plan another activity with going here, and just expect them to capitalize the rest of my evening. The Ruben and wine were good, but not worth it for the wait. read more

As a family we walked in at7:10pm and where and weren't even greeted by the three teenagers at the host station and seemed like we where an inconvenience to them. I can't say I've ever come into a restaurant and had to initiate contact with a host. Being from the East coat I wouldn't say the pizza is 5 star but it met all my cravings while on the road. Fresh ingredients so get a salad and why get a small pie when it could be large! This chain in downtown Whitefish is ok, nothing great. We only stopped in once over the summer we spent there mainly because there was nothing fantastic to bring us back. We ordered a beet salad that had goat cheese and walnuts over a bed of arugula with a vinaigrette. Afterwards we shared a margherita pizza with prosciutto. Service was slow and we were only one of maybe three tables in the restaurant. The salad was fresh and pretty good. The pizza came sans the basil we had asked for so the server promptly plopped some on the table for us. This was fine, we definitely weren't going to ask for it to be re-fired, but the careless attitude around it was comical. We knew not to expect another round of beers so we just laughed it off and left as soon as we could. There are plenty of other pizza options in this small town. read more

Delicious fresh food. Best hot artichoke dip we've ever had, with flavors of pesto and peppers. Crab Rangoon Flatbread, with cream cheese and sweet chili sauce, was unique and tasty. Only caution is the hours -- they are open til "close," which can mean 8:45 pm if that's what they decide. Took us two tries to actually make it in after our first attempt was too late. read more

Great homemade pizza near all the cute shops in Whitefish. The crust was to die for and the flavors of the pesto and pepperoni were awesome--nothing like your run of the mill pizza place. They had seating for bigger groups but were unfortunately understaffed which meant a slightly longer wait time. (this sadly seemed to be the case for a lot of small businesses in town). The waitress/host was still friendly despite having to help what seemed to be half the tables in the restaurant. Hopefully they can hire some more staff because it's a great little place to stop for lunch or dinner! read more

We went last night after a long drive in to town. We were served by a local name Cassie. She was wonderful and amused by the other review on Yelp that was negative on the artwork. I had the Hot Hawaiian pizza thin crust and my wife had the Cottonwood regular crust. Hawaiian was awesome and spicy, the Cottonwood was LOADED with full garlic cloves. I would recommend asking them to go easy on the garlic if you order the Cottonwood. The house blend red was a good wine and I had the River rotary local brew. Very good beer light and easy drinking. The location is good the music they played was 90's which was great and the staff was lots of fun. read more

My friend and I arrived there an hour after they had opened so they had plenty of time to have things done before customers came in, and we STILL had to wait to be seated. We sat there for almost 10 minutes, were seated and then left for another 10-15 minutes before we could order. Mind you the restaurant was NOT busy what so ever. When we received our food, my pasta had a very weird chemical taste, was watery, as well as my salad being brown and wilted the majority of each bite. My friends sandwich was left undercooked with one half being cold and the other being not even lukewarm. The beer and water tasted the best of out everything. We were never asked how our meals were, so it lead to him having to go up to the front counter and explain the situation regarding the food. At this point we'd been here a little over an hour just between the waits etc. We expected better service for a restaurant located in Whitefish. We will NOT be back! read more

Dinner for night two of our vacation. Place gets really busy. Even this late in the season with West Glacier closed, it was busy. Service was pleasant but seemed kind of rushed. Cheesy bread was delish. They have Cold Smoke on tap so that made me happy. Family friendly environment, lots of kids,activity and a lot of noise. We were here years ago, and the product seems pretty consistent. Checkout seemed to take a little bit due to all the other patrons. We will likely go back if we are in the area again. read more
