I discovered Macondo a little over 2 years ago and have been coming back ever since. This is one of the best coffee shops in Miami hands down. Great service, delicious and a variety of foods and amazing quality coffee. The ambiance is very welcoming (at least Doral location). A great place to get breakfast / coffee with friends. On my most recent visit I tried the avocado toast: absolutely delicious. The empanadas were OK as well, would have liked a little more flavor or salt in both. Additionally, there is now a $1 takeout fee which I don't understand. Although just $1, it seems unnecessary. read more

It's vibrant, fun decor, and lots of food and drink options. I have to say their coffee remains top notch and consistent! Great flavor and balance. There's a few ways to order it too. Aero press, drip, espresso with an array of flavors (if that's your thing). The food menu has lots of options as well. From breakfast, lunch-dinner. Many pastries too. Unfortunately, my usual order has declined in quality recently. I was a huge fan of their breakfast sandwich and potatoes but it hasn't been the best. Over cooked eggs and undercooked potatoes. I might try something different next time to see if it's just that order. Staff is also nice and helpful most of the time. I was in the area for a festival and stopped in on a very busy Saturday morning around 10. The line was out the door, so you know it was going to be good. There was a musician playing live music, which was nice. There was a bit of a wait for a table after ordering coffee and food, but eventually seats opened at a large table so one of the workers sat us with another group. They had a pretty decent coffee menu, I tried the Caribbean cold brew because it sounded interesting. It was frozen and definitely had Caribbean flavors. The acai bowl was just okay, just basic acai with coconut flakes, blueberry and strawberry, which was a bit pricey for what you got. The avocado toast was on ciabatta and was pretty tasty. The vibe here on a Saturday morning was great, very busy and the music definitely made it more enjoyable. I have to say, this was quite the excellent coffee! The people that work here a super friendly and really efficient with their service. I also love the laid back ambiance this restaurant and coffee shop gives off. I got a Iced Coffee with Coconut Milk and it was deliciously refreshing! I love the creaminess of the coconut milk against the bitter and floral notes of the coffee. The slight sweetness and coconut flavor gives this coffee a very tropical feel, very fitting for Miami. Horrific. The fact that this place has such good reviews is beyond shocking. Solely came here because of the great reviews, but was met with pure disappointment. Place was packed and I understand that is out of their control. However, once we ordered and found a table, food took at least 30 mins to arrive. With 2 hungry toddlers, you can bet my friend and I were counting down the minutes. Iced lattes were absolutely DISGUSTING. No additions or sugar etc made it any better. Service was awful and unprofessional. Asked for a plate and the lady never came back again. My friend ate on a NAPKIN because we were so desperate to get out of there. When the same lady came to bus our table, she literally hovered over me with her arm in between my toddler and I without saying excuse me... it was just so odd. To top it off, the food was pretty bad. I am 99% sure the pancakes are pre-made, frozen pancakes. Not only bad but TINY, nothing like I've ever seen at any breakfast or brunch spot. And the texture, sooo hard! McDonald's pancakes are probably also frozen but they are at least fluffy and soft, much more similar to a normal pancake than this place. Everything was so bad, I really am in awe at the good reviews. Food, coffee, service - everything was bad - and EXPENSIVE! $60 for 2 iced lattes, 1 egg wrap, and 2 four-inch pancakes. Did we really have such horrible luck on every aspect of the experience OR is this place just not it?? I had to deduct points because I was honestly shocked by the fact that I ordered Colombian empanadas and they did not come with aji. Aji is the sauce that typically comes with Colombian empanadas. I went to go ask if I could have aji, and she said if I want aji its $1. I'm Colombian and in all my years ordering Colombian empanadas I have never once been charged for aji... usually it's at the table for everyone.
