I have never found another auto body shop with such helpful, friendly, and reasonably priced service. Seriously, with two accidents (not our fault, really) in just the last 12 months, Mac's has made what could be a fairly tedious experience dealing with insurance, towing, and the vagaries of auto repair and it's pricing amazingly simple. They take care of every detail, from initiating all of the paperwork with our insurer, towing from the site of the accident, working with the dealership to reset some buttons, and working directly with the insurance inspector, on top of doing top-notch body work. On top of that, the local businesses they work with for towing and maintenance/repair work are all equally as reputable and easy to work with, which says a lot about how seriously they take their business and their customer's time. Do yourself a favor, if you find yourself struggling to deal with post-accident details, go to Mac's. They're truly awesome. read more

I dented my driver's side front door of my 2007 Honda CR-V pretty badly on Saturday evening and was waiting to call a shop on Monday morning. Found out on Sunday that I must've warped the frame of the door as well, as rain was leaking into the car from the driver side window. Brought my car in around 9:45 Monday morning, got estimates for a full repair vs an attempt to fix the door to make it functional (watertight). As a graduate student--decided to try the cheaper option first and move forward with a more expensive repair only if all else failed. My car was fixed and water tight by 12 pm that same day and at a totally reasonable price. Really appreciated the quick turnaround time and the time they took to go over the options at various price points! read more

This auto shop is amazing. I had such a great experience there that if they could take care of all my auto needs, I wouldn't even go anywhere else. I had an issue with my door window and needed to get the power window mechanism fixed. They quoted me a very reasonable price, comparable and even a little lower than other places I checked. Admittedly, I'm always a little paranoid taking my car somewhere new because I worry they'll try to take advantage of a woman who doesn't know much about cars. I never felt that way here. The best part was when I went to go pick in my car, they had completely detailed and washed it free of charge. It was probably the cleanest my car's been in years. Mac's Auto Body is an excellent establishment. i have been bringing cars to be fixed now for over 10 years. I have a number of adolescent boys and they are always in fender benders. Dave McLeod and his wife Jo do an EXCELLENT job. They are highly professional and honest and they never overcharge. This last time when I brought in my kids Honda Civic with over 100,00 miles on it, they fixed the fender bender and then also painted and pounded out all the other dents WITHOUT even my asking them to do it and they didn't even charge me extra. It is a family owned and run business. This is the best place to go in the area and very convenient, right in Davis Square. Also if you need a rental, they will help arrange it and the car will be dropped off at Mac's too!!! read more

New 2015 Mercedes Gl63AMG - my Baby repaired by Mac's - GREAT, GREAT Job. I bought a new car, spent a fortune on it and then someone backed into the drivers door. Jeff and the guys at MAC's did a fantastic job to ensure that the RIGHT parts (original mercedes) parts were used and then made sure that the insurance company did the right thing. To put into perspective, when the insurance adjuster gave an estimate of damage, they sent me a check for $650!! (when we knew the door alone was $2,000. Macs did a thorough evaluation and pointed out what needed to be done. The actual bill came to just over $5,000. Mac's did not cut cormers and did a superb job. I'm an auto nut and very, very fussy but the work was really flawless. I don't recommend often but these guys are PERFECT. read more

They hit my simple criteria (that most miss) ... replied to me quickly when I used the email link on their website; didn't mock me for the repair I needed due to my own stupidity; gave me a great price and finished when they said they would. They were not rude to me at any point in time, the office was clean and organized and bonus: they had a puppy for me to play with while I settled my bill. Dinged up my 2011 Pilot (broken headlight & dented front fender) - it was my fault, so it was coming out of my pocket (I didn't want my insurance rates to go up for 5 years). Brought it into Mac's and David took care of me. Estimate was accurate and very reasonable. My car was done in 2 days, looking brand new - couldn't tell anything was ever wrong with it. David and his team even washed and vacuumed the car while it was in the shop. Convieniently located between David and Porter in case you need to take the T after leaving your car. I have nothing less of a five-star rating to give to Mac's! My 10-year old car sustained minor damage in an accident for which insurance companies delay assessing liability. Desperate to get my car fixed in the eve of Christmas, I took it upon myself to repair the loose bumper out of pocket so that my car is operational again. The leading national auto body chain, as well as some savvy, local body work experts (who receive a large volume of insurance backed business) assessed repairs beyond the actual value of my car. They insisted on replacing my full bumper with an original new part from Volvo, as opposed to simply reattaching it, as i had specifically requested. At Mac's, a warmly run family business, my bumper was adjusted into place with special care and efficiency. Mac's did an outstanding job! The bill was a great surprise -- unexpectedly reasonable, contrary to what I had been quoted at other places. I would like to thank Mac's from the bottom of my heart for fixing my car in time for the holidays. I was going through a gas station carwash recently when I heard a horrible crunching, snapping, and grinding sound coming from underneath my car. Turns out, some jabroni had left a bucket in the middle of the track, which got wedged under my Toyota's bumper and promptly tore it to pieces. After having a... let's say, "colorful".... conversation with the attendant and filling out some "you're high if you think I'm paying to fix this"-type paperwork, I zip-tied the remnants of the bumper together and limped home. Not to worry, though: Mac's to the rescue. Dave scoped out the damage and gave me an extremely detailed estimate to send to the gas station for reimbursement. I put a modest deposit down on a new bumper -- fair, because if I didn't show up they'd be stuck with a bumper that lacked a corresponding car. The part arrived a week later, they painted it, and then I left my car with them for one day so they could install it. I came back that night long after they closed, but they had left the key under the mat (I kept the clicker to get in) and a receipt -- not to mention a bonus fridge magnet and LED keychain light. The work was flawless. The color matched perfectly. It was properly sealed and joined all the way along the crease where the bumper meets the rest of the car. The fog lights had been rewired and re-installed in the new bumper. It looked fresh off the dealer's lot. Even better, everyone I dealt with at Mac's -- whether on the phone or in person -- was generous with his time, friendly, and easy-going, not gruff or intimidating at all. And they were honest, telling me that some unrelated rust damage I had asked about could probably be fixed for cheaper at another shop that specialized in such work. I confess that I can't really comment on price, since the car wash picked up the tab. But the estimate was very, very detailed, and the actual price was exactly the same. I would recommend Mac's to anyone. (Oh and they're right in Davis Sq, convenient if you need to hop on the red line after dropping off your busted ride.) read more

Mac's Autobody is the best! I had been recommended by my landlord, who said, "oh yeah, they're the best," as well. And my buddy's car also got fixed there, and he was happy with the repair job. I took my car in for a fender bender for the front bumper assembly. Dave got the car in and out within a couple of days. And, he also cleaned up some damage to other parts of my car without charging for it. (Including some aesthetic problems on the rear bumper assembly.) The best part of it was that because I was paying out of pocket, Dave was very reasonable with the price. He tried to accommodate me in a lot of ways with the hours that he billed for labor. (Also, with after-market parts.) In the end, my car looked brand new without busting my wallet! It's old fashion friendly service with good people running the business who care a lot about what they do. They do close a bit early and their lot is fairly small, so you can't just drop your car off. But, since they don't have a lot of space, you know that they're working on your car the minute you drop it off. read more

we got an estimate for a bumper replacement elsewhere and decided to stop by mac's on a saturday to see what they'd say. they're closer to us, so it sounded like a more convenient option. what we didn't expect was to deal with the most helpful, possibly nicest auto body shop owner and employees in the world. not only did we get a realistic estimate quickly, but dave had one of his guys secure the bumper so we wouldn't have to worry about it while we made a decision. our son was sleeping in the car seat in the back, and the guy working on our car even put a piece of protective paper over the window to keep sun out of his eyes. all of this was a quick job while we waited... no charge. we haven't even had the work done yet, but i will not hesitate to recommend mac's to anyone and everyone. they went above and beyond the call of duty to treat us as human beings in a business that can often be stressful and discouraging. we'll be back to schedule the work. dave and his guys are top notch. thanks again, guys! read more

I love my car, and take excellent care of it. Long story short, I tore the front bumper off backing out of a driveway in the snow. It was completely removed from the car. I went to Mac's because he's in the neighborhood, and they reattached it for nothing--they didn't charge me anything. It took them almost an hour, and it was on a Saturday. I couldn't believe it. That was about a year ago and the bumper has been totally fine. Two months ago the car was hit while parked and needed body work, so I went to Mac's, this time for $2500 worth of repair. The car came out flawless, and the process of working with the insurance adjuster was handled by Mac's. They were responsive, polite, and never made me feel rushed when I called to discuss the work. They were realistic about when the car would be ready, and accommodating when I picked it up. They even polished my semi-foggy headlights as part of the process. I thought that was great. I highly recommend these guys. There's not a lot of upside to needing body work done, but working with Mac's takes a lot of the sting out of the process. And the work was outstanding. read more

After I got rear-ended, I had to deal with the guilty party's insurance and it seemed like the check they cut me after appraising my bumper's damage was too small, but Jeff in particular helped me every step of the way, making sure the process went smoothly, contacting the appraiser to confirm all the details, etc. The shop then turned my repair around in only 4 business days and essentially gave me a brand new bumper, just like that. How can I give this shop 10 million stars? I got into an accident in late October where the whole front of my car, one of the lights, as well as the suspension were all pretty severely damaged. Being from California, my insurance company did not have any contracted vendors and auto shops that they worked with locally. So, I took to yelp to try and find a suitable shop, and Mac's Auto Body came to the rescue. First off, they were super responsive. And I mean like every time you call, within the hours of 7AM-6PM you're going to get someone on the phone. Actually most of the staff arrive by 6:30AM and most of them will stay as late as 6 or 6:30PM. Both David and Jeff have children to pick up and yet they will always say, "Yeah, no worries. I'll still be at the shop for a while. Take your time." They will give you updates, they will contact your claims adjusters, they will even warn you of appraisers' devious little ploys to try and squeeze more money out of you. David and Jeff are the dream team. They are efficient, they are knowledgeable, they are flexible, they are resourceful, they are endlessly patient, they are tirelessly diligent, and they are basically upstanding, caring individuals. They treat all customers, other professionals, and their own colleagues with upmost respect and friendliness. They don't make promises they can't keep and when they say they'll do something, they'll get it done and keep you updated of any major changes. They will not proceed on a change without your knowledge and consent. When my insurance company contacted me that my rental was running out of the 30 days limit, Mac's auto body instead took it upon themselves to make sure that they would help me out and try to make an arrangement with Hertz to extend it by one or two days. When the tow company told me they could not make the tow "after hours" as a 24 hour tow company, Mac's called another tow, set it up and paid for it up front until my insurance could pick it up. When my appraiser decided to add a betterment, Jeff gave me a call first thing in the morning so I could get the heads up. When it came time to get my car and I didn't have time to return the rental and pick up my car after work, David was still there at 6:15PM working hard, and even called Hertz to let them know he would drop off the rental to them the next morning. After all that, they gave me a complimentary pen, a "keep your drinks cold" cup sleeve, a mini flashlight, a list to keep of important car info, and a Bruins schedule! Totally free! :) The work itself was beautiful. My car is a very rare grayish-purplish blue color that is hard to blend. But they did a wonderful job and even added two new hub caps where the old ones had fallen off in the accident. Suspension is brand new and feels really sturdy. They also give pretty much lifelong warrantee on their work so at any point if something feels wonky, they assured me I could come back and get it looked at. So to say that I'm a satisfied customer is a gross understatement. I'm so thankful to have found them and so grateful there are still people who work the way they do: tirelessly, compassionately, conscientiously, and honestly. Exceptional service, repaired our Volvo twice now, once broken into then a hit and run. Not only do they do the repair, they clean the car and even follow up with you to make sure everything is a okay. Jeff called the glass company for us to make sure the glass company was going to put in the privacy glass, and then Jeff followed up with us to make sure the glass company called us. I have to tell you this service is after the fact Jeff already did his job and a great job Mac's did. I was so pleased with the service and amazed by the follow up they do here at Mac's. David gave us a quote, and even made two extra calls to track down the bumper option that was $150 less.
