My experience at Macy's in Topanga was unpleasant, and unfortunately, not for the first time. Shopping in the beauty department feels more stressful than enjoyable. The sales associates are extremely pushy and clingy. The moment you walk in, multiple people approach you offering help you never asked for, and they simply won't leave you alone. Instead of being able to browse comfortably, you feel pressured and constantly interrupted. It gets to the point where all you want to do is leave the department. What made my recent visit even more frustrating was a return I made yesterday. The associate looked at the item and asked, "Are you sure this is from Macy's?" Considering I was standing at the Macy's return counter with a Macy's purchase, it came across as unnecessary and somewhat rude. I much prefer shopping at Nordstrom. Their associates are professional, respectful, and understand the balance between being available and being intrusive. If you need assistance, they're there to help. If you prefer to browse on your own, they give you space. That's what good customer service should look like. Macy's beauty department could greatly improve the customer experience by allowing shoppers to browse without constant pressure and by treating customers with more professionalism and courtesy. read more

My wife wanted to stop by here last night while we were inside Westfield Topanga mall. She wanted to look at their jewelry stuff so we came. They were not as busy as you would think for a Friday night. This Macy is 3 floors, the jewelry and women clothing are on the second floor. The staff here are very friendly so don't be shy to ask any questions, they are also helpful too. When my wife was looking at jewelry, one of the worker told her about the sales they currently have. I went to look at the mens watches while she was shopping since it can take a while. The customer service area is on the first floor toward the left side of the store. I used to shop here with my mom every single weekend as a teen/young adult. Had a bad experience a few years ago at another location and haven't went back since. So much to improve here. We order a very expensive mattress from them. The sale and delivery was smooth. But noticed a lump in the left side of the bed. Called immediately and got it inspected, sure enough it's a defective mattress. Need to call and follow up of course and reschedule for this one to be picked up and a new one be delivered. Here is the kicker we need to wait two weeks! Mean while our back and shoulders are killing us. And the sale representative nor Macys have checked in with us or even helped to get our bed to us soon! Ok so the store itself has room for improvement and I'll admit, I rarely feel a draw to come here. But, the customer service in the furniture department is exceptional. For a period of roughly 2 years Stephen patiently helped me as I had issues after issues with mattresses (personal taste and comfort). I shop at Macy's quite often, they have a wonderful selection of women's clothing and have some great sales. While typically the floor staff is a little lacking, and sometimes the lines are a little long, generally speaking it's usually clean orderly and I enjoy shopping here. I usually park on the upper level right outside the store quite easily. Yesterday I came in shopping for my mother-in-law and Laura at the cash register helped me. She was incredibly helpful very kind and did not rush me at all. Instead of pointing in some random direction, she offered to help me find something I needed, spent quite a bit of time trying to find my account (that for some reason was not appearing the cash register) and then instructed me on how to get my points that were not being credited to my account because the system was not finding me in it. One of my better experiences with any of the sales people/cashiers. give that girl a raise. read more

Genuinely haven't been this upset by a service interaction in a while. I was super excited to buy my first perfume using a gift card that I had gotten! I was happy that the associate helped me and recommended some and included a free sample of my second favorite, even though I wound up going with the one I had already planned on. She was in her 50s, wearing a patterned dress, dyed hair. However, she told me I could get 20% off opening a card. I know it helps them with their metrics when they open cards, so I said why not. But after opening the card, when I asked when to give the gift card, she told me I couldn't use it. Though this makes sense, I SPECIFICALLY TOLD HER I wanted to use my gift card. I feel mislead and deceived because of this. She made me feel like I was taken care of, then left me feeling very disappointed in my purchase. I only went here to use the gift card. Now I'm down $150+. I don't understand why you would use someone like that. I am very dissatisfied with that kind of treatment. read more

Macy's has long been known for it's excellent quality of products but this time the same can not be true for one particular worker in the fragrance dept. while looking to buy but not sure which scent I needed some help deciding, she completely ignored me, when I finally asked for help she had a very bad attitude and seemed to think that because of my casual attire I was not a serious buyer , I believed she racially profiled my and my family thinking we couldn't afford to purchase anything there. While I know that your company thrives on inclusivity, I think you made an error in giving this person a job as she demonstrates the opposite of what you represent and having her as an extension of your company makes you look as bad as she is. This is my second favorite branch of Macy's in the valley, my first being the Macy's in Sherman Oaks and my last being the Macy's in Northridge. The customer service is mostly fine. They usually have a good variety of women's clothes and underwear as well. Clothing items have become expensive post-covid, but sometimes they pleasantly surprise you with huge discounts at the register. To start this location is difficult to get in and find parking . This store as you walk in you are greeted by kids trying to sell you candy , and begging you to buy. It's not basketball season. Upon entry you are blasted with overwhelming smell of various bad smelling fragrances. I literally saw a worker spraying the air with random perfumes. My wife went to purchase make up and was left standing unattended to for over 15 minutes as we both watched the ladies back and forth talking to each other. My wife firmly raised her voice to get someone's attention, finally we were greeted by a fake smile and attitude. My wife annoyed at this point wanted something simple and to get In and out. The worker turned to her colleague and started speaking in a different language clearly talking about us. How uncomfortable! That was the last straw , we decided to take our business elsewhere as we were walking away the worker was harassing me to try and open a credit card. I visited Macy's for a quick, impulsive buy on a pair of dressy shoes. I couldn't fid my size, so I asked a nearby staff member, who directed me to another staff member who was not present. A second redirect took another 15 minutes, and finally a staff member was able to help me out. I ended up finding a pair that fit though the journey was anything but that. The first two staff members that redirected me stood there doing nothing the entire time, while a few had their hands full... a stark contrast. They have a decent selection of men's fragrance but the customer service is awful! The lady's harass me to try their fragrance. I tried explaining to them what kind of notes I like in a fragrance and none of them understand English all she said was "TRY TRY TRY". They were very rude and sprayed me with a bunch of fragrance I ended up getting a nasty rash. She kept insisting I get Chanel after I told her i didn't like it. I ended up smelling something different when she walked away to show me something else and purchased a completely different fragrance and she made the nastiest attitude faces. A sensitive topic. I used the lady's bathroom when I was at Macy's today. When trying to extract the toilet paper from the roll it kept on shredding because it was so thin. What really surprised me was how narrow the paper was - 30 percent less wide than normal toilet paper. I thought this was so funny that I took a piece home to measure it. Came here in a rush to get my lashes done. I had some on, but they were hanging by a thread. I had already called MAC and MAC Nordstrom and they told me they couldn't accommodate. I frantically ran to the MAC counter and Nassim approached me. She helped me pick out some natural lashes and applied them in minutes. She was wonderful and I was so happy with her work. She even fixed my eyeliner as it had come off when I yanked my previous lashes off. She saved me a bunch of embarrassment showing up to an event with my lashes coming off. Gotta love browsing Macys every now and then. This place has a great selection of clothing, jewelry, apparel etc. Prices here are great. This location has been here for a while and they have a large parking area adjacent to the store. There is parking on both levels. This location is usually pretty clean and bright. Employees are generally helpful and nice. I think they need more security presence though. The shoe department here is a mess. There's ONE person to service the entire women's shoes department, they no longer measure your foot for you- you have to stand in one line to get the shoes to try on, another to buy them. Natalia in the women's shoe section is so phenomenal. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding and I needed my shoes approved by the bride. I could wear only nude or gold heels. She must've searched the entire department, brought me EVERY option, spoke to the bride on FaceTime about specifications. She had the most positive attitude and not once complained, and she would've been warranted to complain! She is an amazing employee, amazing at customer service, and she helped me with the impossible. She found a show for me that met all the criteria, was comfortable, and looked great on my feet. Macy's is a pretty cool store, but the only thing I don't recommend is customer service! We went here yesterday to return some shoes. I had to wait in a line for a VERY long time to get to the return counter. While I waited, I watch a customer talk to the cashier about a checkout. The cashier wasn't being helpful, friendly, or accommodating to the customer who reports a problem. I felt bad for the customer! When I got there, they told me, "This is not the counter to return shoes." Really? This is the only counter at the store that says 'Returns'! And after the wait in the long line, I was confused! So I went to the checkout desk at the shoe section. As you probably guessed, they pushed me down to ANOTHER desk! "This is not the counter to return shoes." The cashier at the desk told me. How many times would I have to go to different counters around the store? Finally, I reached the counter the cashier at the second counter told me to go to. There was another long line. I was still very upset about having to be tossed around by cashiers at different counters. I was able to make the return, but my experience was awful. read more

The workers here either need to be retrained or need to take courses in retail 101 came here with my wife to buy a makeup pen and the associate named Saba at the makeup department gave us the run around as to why we cant use our macys card at a specific register she brought us too I worked at Macy's for 12 years prior to Covid19 happening and I don't recall the last time we are not allowed to use our Macys card at a shoe department register rather than a makeup counter register.
