We purchased a bed from Manhattan Beach Macy's. What a big mistake. We bought one of the most expensive beds, hotel collection lux firm. We were returning a Top in the line Beauty rest that failed to hold shape in less than 3 years. We still have not gotten the refund from this bed. We ask the sale people we dealt with and they tell us to call customer care. We have done this 7 times and still no help. Also the bed we bought $7000 is a lot harder than the floor model. We tell the sales people and they say there is a break in period. B.S. Also they told us there would be a cooling affect with this type of bed. B.S . Terrible customer service. Every single time without fail and very racist. My mom was trying to make a return and was told it wouldn't be possible, the purchase wasn't even passed the 30 days. Same thing with a gift with purchase a separate occasion when purchasing a fragrance during Mother's Day week. When my mom went to Macy's at Del Amo they gave her no issues and said they've had them all month long for Mother's Day but at this location a salesperson said they didn't have any and wouldn't be expecting gift with purchases any time soon for Mother's Day. When my mom voiced her experience with the manager along with her return she was met with arrogance on the managers end saying, "what did the perfume purchase have to do with the return." The associates along with management only care about making sales disregarding questions, comments, and concerns made by customers. They should focus more on instilling and practicing better customer service. If I could give zero stars I would. This place isn't worth shopping at. read more

We were looking for Keurig pods in the housewares area. My wife also looked around for some gifts for coworkers in the same area. My wife finds what she wants to buy and there is one sales associate helping a couple out in the same area. We got ZERO acknowledgement from her that her (or someone) would help us as soon as possible. The number of customers we saw in this department on that day was very few (perhaps another victim of the internet/Amazon), so I can understand Macy's wanting to be minimally staffed. But if you go to most any other dept store and you are at the cashier waiting to pay, isn't it normal for someone to say "someone will be with you shortly"? I opted NOT to get the coffee pods as I found them way overprices compared to other places (and the selection was minimal). Sad to say, that Macy's may be going the way of Sears in the not so distant future. read more

I used to love shopping here. Back then they have more selections of good name brands, unfortunately it has been diminishing for the past few years. What a shame. The customer service here is a hit or missed. Some staff are super nice, super friendly and helpful and some are the complete opposite. It depends of who you dealing with. Prices wise is okay, you better take advantage of the sale event to save some $$$$ Just keep in mind not all sale items are good deal. You can do you're own research online from other websites to compare prices. I noticed their pricing would change from time to time, they will mark up some items that are actually cheaper than before and marked it as a sale item. It's very tricky, unless you're really paying attention. Sometimes online deals are so much better than the store. So keep a keen eye on something you really like and notice a huge difference. On the other hand, you may ask the associate to try to price match the item. Usually they will honor it. I purchased a pair of earrings before, several months later the same kind of earrings are marked up about $200 more than ticketed price. I know because I still have the original tag of my earrings. So don't be fool with such of what they call "the biggest sale event ever". Be a smart shopper! read more

Lately wherever I go shopping, I'm dismayed at the depths of how awful customer service has sunk to. Especially at department stores. But this department store - and one employee in particular - now makes me want to drive all the way from WLA to this location when I need a Macy's visit, even though there's another location way closer to me! As I walked through one women's clothing department, looking for the right place to return something, Agustin greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything. Satisfied with browsing for a bit before my transaction, I said no - thank you. A half hour later, I had found the right department for my return and was second in line when I saw Agustin again. He greeted me and offered to take me to another register to help me, even though my line wasn't really long. Even when the line is SUPER long and there are sales staff standing around, I have not had this happen to me at other Macy's locations. Because of that, it feels to me that this incident today was a sign of Agustin's high level of standards - and (unfortunately) NOT indicative of other Macy's locations I've been to. I left this Macy's feeling pretty happy because I received polite, prompt and attentive service, as I would have expected. I received some dented pans from an online order and stopped in here to exchange them. They did not have them in stock, but he was happy to explain that he could process them as a return and give me paperwork so I could get them at another location where they were in-stock. I didn't really like the idea of driving around, but it sounded reasonable and I didn't want to take the chance of having the pans dented during shipping again, so I made the drive over to Redondo Beach. Unfortunately, the information I was given (while been sent to another Macy's to complete my transaction because they were out of stock here) was the complete opposite of correct, resulting in terrible service at another Macy's. While the employee at the other Macy's could have provided decent service, I simply would not have had to deal with her terrible attitude if the employee at this location had done his job properly to begin with. I've said it a hundred times, and I'll say it again. If you don't know; ask. Customers would much rather wait an extra minute to get correct information that waste time later because you were too cocky or lazy to get it for them the first time. read more

This Macy's is like a secret Macy's. Not too many people seem to know that it's here. But that's better for me.. for the rare occasions that I find myself needing a dress. The Macy's is located on one end of the mall, and the Macy's Men & Furniture is located on the opposite end. What I like about Macy's is that things are always on sale here. And sometimes, when you bring it to the register, you'll find that the item has been reduced even more!!! I like this place because of their coat selection... the clothes are alright.. not really my style. Dresses are good too! Parking is pretty easy. Except during lunch, M-F. The work crowd comes here for lunch! There's even a restaurant here owned by Luke Walton! The women's intimate apparel section needs some work. The employees here are a little slow. I came here to add to my collection of Fiesta dinnerware. Carmen Perez helped me and I couldn't believe the service she gave. She was patient, friendly, happy to help and helped me select a few items and then ordered what they didn't have. Then they had a problem with my Mastercard. It's not me and it's not the Mastercard - Macy's online keeps rejecting it because they subscribe to some fraud service that put me on their list. My card has never been stolen or misused, and I pay double the minimum amount every month. But I've been rejected several times in the last few years for no reason - according to Citibank. But Carmen figured out how to solve the problem and I went home with the items I wanted. We hit several snags in getting the exact items I came in for but Carmen got past each one. I stress enough how fantastic Carmen Perez was in taking care of me. Macy's is lucky to have people like that working for them. And let me state the obvious. I never met Carmen before in my life. I insisted she give me her name so I could find her again - and write a review. read more

I usually come here for the Ralph Lauren since we don't have a lot of places that have RL in the South Bay but the selection is limited. This is by far the best Macy's. It's organized and their customer service is great. We came here to the men's department for my boyfriend. We were looking for a suit. The sales associates were busy organizing but took their time to greet us. Im giving the 4 stars to Carl in the men's department. He found the perfect suit for my boyfriend and was very helpful with the size recommendation. The gentleman knows what he's doing!!! I'm glad we don't live too far from this location. What's with this company. You get used to seeing and having your own personal shopper because your treated with VIP. Looks as though kids out of high school or junior high. I am very disappointed in Macy's. I made a large purchase on my MasterCard and the purchase was cancelled within 10 minutes. I have been wiring for a week to give the refund back on my MasterCard. Macy's keeps giving me answers that are not addressing the issue regarding the refund. I have purchased some other items and I'm going to return them ASAP. Purchased a bronzer 6 months ago but never opened it. Finally opened and it was completely cracked. Went to exchange for new one, however it was discontinued. More importantly would not exchange due purchase being over 6 months. Next call managers, get transferred 4 times, they figure out the transaction number and agree credit me. Back to Macy's, get credit and purchase what I thought was a Brown kohl pencil from Lancôme (I brought the old one with me and showed her!!). Got home only to find the WRONG waterproof pencil. Back to Macy's a 3rd time now!!! All because the bronzer was broke to begin with. Really can they not sell you the correct item when you hand them the old one!! Love love love shopping here. The store is super organized and the staff is nice. They seem to know where everything is exactly and always point me to the right direction. I always sign up for the friends and family during Christmas time and I end up with a lot of awards. I can find everything for the whole family which makes this my go to spot. The parking is super easy as it's located in a large mall. I was in desperate need for a dress and stopped by here to look for it and of course I was able to find it. I actually live in South Redondo Beach and out of the three South Bay Stores (Del Amo, and Redondo Beach Galleria) this is by far my favorite. The others are junky and messy but this one is like shopping in a high end department store. The employees are friendly and helpful, when you can find them but that is a major issue with Macy's I have is you can never find anyone to check you out. My local Macy's. It's clearance so clothes everywhere. The staff keeps things in order. Everything on a rack. This local as in all Macy's goes off the customer demographics to fill the store. As a result I need to go to Macy's in Redondo Beach. Now that's a Macy's!!! In the end Fox Hills Macy's gets my vote. Everyone is friendly and it's a clean store. Plenty of dressing rooms. I went in to purchase a suit and found the suit that I wanted. It was a Kenneth Cole suit. Upon trying the suits on, I found a 48R jacket that fit and 40L pants that fit. I was told by the supervisor that I could only purchase the 42L pants with the 48R jacket. Keep in mind, these were the same brand and color/fabric of suit. The exact same style. When I protested and stated that the 48R/40L combo was the best fit for me, the sales person continued to deny my request to purchase. My claim that good customer service...and common sense would be to allow me to purchase the better fitting combo, I was still denied. I then asked to speak to their manager. I was told that the manager was on a conference call. Then the sales representative made a call and discussed the issue with his manager and hung up with the same manager with no change in the decision. When I explained, again, that I wanted to speak with the manager, I was told that the manager was on a conference call and it could be several minutes. I stated I would wait. Almost immediately, the manager, Elizabeth, showed up (must have been a quick conference call!). Elizabeth was accompanied by Teri. The two almost seemed inseparable. Elizabeth continued to maintain that they could not sell me the different sizes and encouraged me to purchase suit separates. When I explained that the suit separates did not match and that those were not the suit that I wanted, Elizabeth and Teri told me that "they" would not allow me to but the suit I wanted. When I asked who "they" was, I was told corporate policy. I said surly corporate policy provides for good customer service when common sense dictates. (After all, we are literally talking about a two inch size difference). I was told no once again and was told I could talk to the store manager by Elizabeth. I said I would be happy to talk to the store manager. Teri interjected and said the store manager was on a conference call and would not be able to see me that evening. (These people spend a lot of time on conference calls, especially for it being 5pm, on a holiday - Columbus Day). My sense was that there were never really any conference calls going on. Nonetheless, I said I would wait for the store manager. Elizabeth said ok, but Teri said she wouldn't be able to see me. I told them the two of them need to get their story straight as they walked away. While waiting, I checked out the suit separates since I had the time to waste. There were no comparable suit separates and no matches of such in the sizes I needed. Elizabeth and Teri returned (as I said, inseparable). They said they spoke to the store manager and that she offered me free tailoring if I were to buy the larger suit size. I asked where the tailor was, which was in Torrance, a location not convenient to me. So I told them that would not work. They asked if there was anything else they can do for me, which I continued to state that I was waiting for the store manager. I was then told that she was still on a conference call and that she would be on the conference call for another two hours. Again, sensing this was BS (a two hour conference call, 5pm pacific coast time on a holiday and repeated responses to me despite the on-going call), I stated I would wait. I was told she would not be able to speak to me and that if I left a phone number she would call me. I said that I would wait the two hours. Again, Teri and Elizabeth walked away. Minutes later, despite her all important conference call, Kate, the store manager shows up. She introduced herself to me and asked what she could do for me. I indicated I was trying to buy this jacket and this pants and showed her. She through out some retail jargon to me that I didn't understand and I told her so. She then said that I couldn't buy the two together. She said it was no different than shoes. Whereupon I stated I am not asking to buy two different set of shoes. She stated that they wouldn't sell the same shoe in different sizes, whereas I indicated that it seems odd that Macy's would discriminate against someone with different foot sizes and that also seems not very customer oriented or friendly. She indicated that it is customer friendly. I stated that in this case, I am the customer and I do not consider this to be considerate of the customer. She again stated that I would not be able to purchase the items at which case, I then stated, well you just lost my business. This is two inches here. It seems to me, a company such as Macy's can afford to cater to customers better and to afford their sales team and store managers a modicum of empowerment to make reasonable decisions that benefit the customer. But maybe this is why Amazon now has my business. The treatment I received from Elizabeth, Teri, and Kate was less than empatheticand revealed the true values of Macy's and their commitment to its customers. It was a horrible experience. read more

I ordered a couple of shoes from Macy's online during Black Friday and simply wanted to return my shoes for a smaller size. I came into their store after returning the show and went straight to the men's shoe department. Literally, right as I walked to the shoe department, the person managing that department left right in front of my face to go on her lunch break. There was no one manning that department in the meantime. I asked for help from the nearby employees, who tried their hardest to help me. (They are the reason why I'm giving this place two stars instead of one) They were very kind and definitely tried their best, which I 100% appreciated. I just found it very inappropriate to have an employee manning an entire department to just get up and leave without having anyone to cover. This caused utter chaos in the shoe department as over 10 customers came by to the shoe department trying to seek help from one person who didn't even know anything about that department. I feel it would be best to either have another person cross-trained at that department to be able to take over or help out when there is a rush of customers such as when I came. Another downside is that I ended up being able to exchange my shoes for a smaller size, but I noticed that on one of my boots there was already a preexisting scuff mark that I did not notice until I had worn out it outside for about 30 minutes. Store is Understaffed and managers need to actually work. Why so many managers just walking around?

When I tell you I love the holiday fragrance gift sets I mean it.. I will wait all year for them to come out. And today I finally went into this Macy's for some shopping. When I got to the fragrance counter I was met by some amazing people today. One in particular was Hilda. She was more than extremely helpful. I had a list of about 30 different ones I wanted to go through and she went through every single one with me.. AND MORE! Finally when it came down to a select few I couldn't decide on so just got them all.. when I got home I noticed one of the bottles was sadly broken so I rushed back to hopefully do an even exchange Thats where I met 2 more amazing associates Madaline and Clinique. I guess there was a small issue with the return because it was purchased same day but that's ok (not their fault just how the Macy's system is) also I guess the box I first went with was actually the last one however to try and make things smoother I went with the same perfume just a different gift set style/price. Madaline was more than amazing. She made the return and then exchange smooth and painless as possible. Especially during these congested crazy holiday times! I have to leave a stellar review for the women working the online pick up. Today I came in to pick up my online order and witnessed a woman throw a temper tantrum over shoes and when given a resolution she only got louder. The women working kept their composure while the customer went on a rant and continued to verbally attack one of the women working there. These women were awesome and managed to empty the line as quickly and as professional as they could while the customer continued to yell for a manager. Kathy and Shae are Rockstars at the Estee Lauder cosmetic counter! I went to this location specifically because the machine to choose your "perfect" shade of make-up was broken at the Del Amo Mall for over 5 weeks now! This would have been my first time using the machine, never the less when Kathy put it on my face in the 3 designated areas...the machine picked totally ugly and bogus shades, YUCK! Just the small dab she put on my cheek looked horrible! Way too light... talk about "Weekend at Bernie's, lol!" But Kathy with her expertise took control and used many years of making women beautiful to pick my perfect shade manually. After all, a computer is not a persons eyes in the real world. Long story short, I have worn my new make up and no one can tell the difference. It looks exactly like my tried and true shade I have worn for years that was apparently discontinued (sad face) If Kathy was not there I would have instantly walked out without any make-up using that busted color blind machine. This review is for the men's/furniture Macys. There are never enough people working. They are unbelievably short staffed. It's embarrassing. Every time I go in, there is only one person working upstairs in the men's suits and men's shoes area. You spend forever walking around trying to find someone to help you check out. It's very irritating. This past Sunday, a worker was helping me with a return and literally dead in the middle of the transaction she stops and says, "I need to take my lunch" and tells me I need to have another person help me.
