#147/2016 I used to have more patience for shopping at Macy's but now the service is so abysmal, either non-existent (turning around helplessly in a no man's land, "Hello? Anyone here?") Or defiantly indifferent to the point of being nearly hostile that I've almost completely given up shopping this store. It's not just that consumers have abandoned big-box stores and malls in particular, Macy's has clearly given up trying to lure shoppers except by a price battle that no brick 'n' mortar retailer can win. Kudos to Macy's for providing space for the SPCA year after year during the holiday window display. I was told by SPCA volunteers that all of the animals were adopted and went to good homes. I have not step foot inside a Macy's in a long time. When I do, it's usually an online pickup that my Sweetie orders, or my Sweetie will have me pick up the annual Lancom products put together by Macy's awesome health and beauty specialist, Lisa. She's fantastic. It's also my few opportunities I get to have a free, quick facial scrub. Hahaha :p I wonder if Lisa still works there? Hmm.... I did get a chance to check out the Men's department while I was there. It looks to be about the same the last time I was there which was ions ago. I visited Macy's in Union Square, right before the Holidays. The entire store was decorated and very cheerful. We enjoyed lunch on the top floor at the Cheesecake Factory and then had fun shopping afterwards. The customer service is always excellent at Macy's. This year, I bought a beautiful glass ornament on sale and a pair of knee high boots. I love how the second floor is mostly shoes. SFPD does a great job patrolling Union Square and I felt safe walking around and going in and out of Macy's. read more

Unconscionable but solidly true - this gem of a store is architecturally stunning, immaculate, top notch service, and quality designer threads. Go to the lower level and there is a tourism office with access to unique Macy's San Franciscan goods... From a family where multiple generations worked at the flagship on 34th street in NYC (grandma for 40+ years), this is the best example of Macy's traditions more so than the flagship! read more

Rude workers (2) with straight attitudes. Made a few returns, got attitude.... The items were in separate plastic bags, not the bags that they were "delivered" in, the cashier wanted me to remove them from the plastic as well, after refunding items, I asked her to throw plastic away including the plastic that items were delivered in. She acted like I was supposed to keep it. She then informed me that the place to do returns was on the first floor as well but in a rude way, not an informative way. I asked her to validate my parking ticket and directions to the women's restroom and she was just unpleasant. After using the restroom on floor 3, browsing and trying on clothes, I proceeded to the first floor to validate parking ticket and encountered another rude person when trying to locate where I could get it done.... "It's way over there", well thanks, I didn't know, I'm looking for it. I don't usually shop downtown Macys, I can count the times on one hand. I'm sure tourists and visitors shop there and need directions, you would think the location would be lots friendlier and willing to give information and directions, remove items from plastic, etc. ‍ read more

Trouble finding any help. One guy was cool and pointed me in the direction of cashier but cashier pushed hard to get my info. I just want to pay and be on my way. I saw her put stickers on the bottom of boxes and should have payed better attention (on me), when I got home I realized I was charged original price for everything and not the sale prices indicated on stickers on top of the box. Service is literally the worst. I came in today happily to buy a swarvoski tennis bracelet. I was searching around and apparently I was not in the right area? Keep in mind it's my first time here. So I don't know where anything is. She repeadly kept screaming this is not expensive the area you are in? Completely and utterly disgusting to say the least the amount of racial profiling that is happening in the jewelry section. The store has consolidated the Men's department into the building that the women's is in. It's not bad at all. It has that familiar feeling as if you were in the other department. However it has awesome views of the outside on the 6th floor (see uploaded pics) and I can see where tourists would come in and want a picture in front of it at this time of year. I have ordered many stuffs from Macys for years. Shipping is very fast and price is reasonable. Good store!

One of the employees in this Macy are extremely rude, disgusting and disrespectful. When I was trying to find the restroom on the 3rd floor I went up to the side of the counter trying to ask a quick question of where the restroom is. But since she was working, I waited aside where she can obviously see. However, she "purposely" act like I wasn't there and whenever I tried to ask a question, she tried to find ways to turn her head away from me to avoid communicating with me whenever I tried to ask. What I meant by "purposely" was not only that she was avoiding to make eye contacts with me but also "act" like she was busy in the moment when she's just moving like a snail. At the time, I didn't think much and thought she was just busy trying to finish up her customer so I waited for a few more minutes to let her finish with that customer so I could ask a question real quick before the next customer comes. Then when I tried to ask again she give me an arrogant look and attitude telling me that she's busy. At this point why didn't she just tell me to ask someone else in the beginning instead of making me stand on your side like an idiot for 5 minutes straight waiting for you to answer my question. What makes you feel good about it? You don't even buy the stuff here and you're just a worker, working in a fancy mall doesn't mean that you'll be fancy as well. I do understand that you are busy because there is a line of customers that you have to do, but what do you mean by you are busy when you're working with your hands and I'm asking you by mouth, do you need to use your mouth to take money out of the counter or take out tags and stuff? I'm sure telling me where the restroom is only takes about 3-5 seconds to answer, I really hope Macy could hire someone who has better manners and attitudes, but also try to find someone who has the basic knowledge of human ability to communicate properly, which includes not being deaf and blind to work at the check-out area. In the age of dying retail Macy's is thriving. The store is well merchandised and the staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable and deals/sales are always available. They have numerous food outlets (some that overlook union square). As well as a full service tourist info center. Parking is available by many lots near by. Because he needs to see that he lost a good thing! And so, I seek out Macy's to answer my prayers to SKINNY-NATION! Freaked out Jenny: Umm... scuzzy me, I'm looking for some jeans that will make me look tall, skinny, sexy and shrink my butt down a bit. I'll even pay $100+ to look that way! Skinny but nice sales lady: Oh, you want to look like me? No problem, we have lots of options! Freaked out Jenny: Umm... hell ya, I do. What do you got? (she was skinny!) Skinny but nice sales lady shows me around and we pick-up armloads of jeans to try on. Jean after jean, there was something wrong with each one, especially, the waist area. Wah!!! I was getting uninspired and wanted to cancel my dinner plans with the ex. But finally, the skinny sales lady passed a pair of jeans over and told me to try them on...then something miraculous happened... I slipped into the PERFECT fitting jeans. I saw angels, clouds, and harlequins float above my head! The waist fit perfectly, the length didn't need hemming, I looked thinner (but not taller) and my a$$ was perky. Oh jeans, where have you been all my life? Unbelievable! Turns out, to look and feel my best, I had to move up a jean size. It's traumatic and relieving at the same time. Happy and sad at the same time. Happy that it fits beautifully, sad that its a size larger. But most importantly, it looks GOOD, it looks really really GOOD on me! So, good, I bought 2 pairs. Skinny but nice sales lady also hooked me up! She gave me a different coupon that I didn't have and ended up saving even more money than I thought I would saved. When I met up with my Ex the next day, I was relieved and happy to see that his head is more aerodynamic than ever! He was still skinny (hymph!) but what matter most is... I'm skinnier than his wife :)!!! Jeans or no jeans, I win! We both had a good chuckle over the good old days of HS and college. I love coming into this Macy's to window shop, browse and of course buy merchandise. Seldom do I have any issues with customer service. The employees are pleasant and courteous. Their inventory and/or merchandise, and the selections are far better than Macy's Bayfair and this store is the closest to my home. Driving to SF and parking can be hellacious in the Union Square area, but having access to public transportation works out very well for me One of the best time to come around to Macy's is around the holiday season when a certain section of the store (Holiday Lane) is very decorative and festive. I enjoy looking at the ornaments. I buy at least three for decorating gift baskets for the holiday season. read more

I really love this Macy's. I am a Macy's fan anyway, but this one has like 6 levels and the make up section has nearly every brand you can imagine with enough make up artists to go around. I love to shop for make up and have an artist there to apply it before i buy it.. the energy is great! I tried most floors... bought over 160 bucks worth of Urban Decay and MAC make up - okay, i went a little over board, i love sparkely things.. found a great blouse, and some cute shoes (they have an awesome shoe section.. everything from Betsey Johnson to Jessica Simps, to Micheal Kohrs..) stopped in the intimates for a purchase.. great selection there, and popped into the cheesecake factory they have on the roof top for a mojito and the view.. a really great shopping experience.. especially if you dont want to run all over town and need to get a bunch of stuff in one place.. plan to spend YO MONEY! As you can tell, I normally review food related places I frequent but I had to say that Jeffrey in the children's department made my experience a very pleasant one last weekend. We were looking for a b-day gift for a friend's son and Macy's was having a 1 day sale. I came across one item that ran up more than what the tag said of which Jeffrey offered to honor the tag price since it was their mistake. When we asked for a box, since they didn't have it under their counter, instead of just saying they don't have one as they normally do, he went over to another department to get one for us. This review is for the sales associate at Benefit Cosmetics counter by Stockton Street entrance. I dropped a hat and was retracing my steps thru various stores. When I let her know this, Melissa became very concerned & took the time to follow me to the Shiesado counter & the SF-SPCA adoption center. She then juggled ringing up a customer & getting my note which she was going to bring to security. She even gave me her business card to follow up the next day (Sat). Been contemplating of getting a couch from Macy's but friends insist I get one from Craigslist!!! wrong. I'd never do that again !!! Macy's got the style .. Can be the classic or the Retro Modern like the couch I got .. Service was impeccable.. The associate will give you suggestions .. They deliver and offer a 7year warranty that I feel comfortable with.. I take care of our furniture.. But this would help in case of accidents.. The delivery service was good too .. I was shopping in the linens department where there were many bed displays and children climbing on the displays. I asked a salesperson for help who said to check each brand for duvet covers. Luckily I asked another salesperson, Dion, who said it wasn't his department (I believe he works as a fashion stylist and in corporate sales), but he offered to check each area with me after I explained the color I was looking for. He conscientiously tried every area, even the sale area, and offered that there was an extra discount with a Macy's card. Dion really went the extra mile for me and is extremely helpful. After reading the news that Macy's will be closing the Union Sqaure I am not surprised that Macy's Corporation is selling the property. I love this Macy's for 45 years now and went shopping for Christmas presents this year. I specificaly was looking for men's fitted shirts, joggers, and a coat. I didn't wear coat because I was sure I would find the perfect coat at Macy's as I always have . I checked every shirt for the men, and NO fitted shirts like the ones on their online site. I looked for joggers, or Zella excercise pants, online, but not at store. I looked for the latest joggers for my grown kids as well. My family doesn't like Brand names all over the clothing in big bold letters. Found some joggers , but limited variety of sizes in MEDIUM. The coats were pathetic. They have very few styles, and lots of the same awful coats. The craftsmanship, the fabric were cheap. So, no coat. I did buy Parfum. The next time I went to Macy's Serramonte. I like the Back Stage at this store, housewears, and their furniture as well. Huge selection of clothes compared to Union Sqaure. I'm happy they brought in Toys R Us, good move. The restaurants are also a good choices. If Macy's , and all other stores, would have the selection in their stores that are offered online, the stores would fill with shoppers. As it is, the purchasers for Macy's need to get with the times and give people a reason to shop. I think the Corporation is in the real estate business now and really don't care. It's really sad, that during the Chinese New Year Parade, all the people waving from the windows, the Holiday window dressings, the store displays designed by so many talented people. None of these cherished memories mean anything to theses shareholders. They purposely carry more items online. So, like everyone else, they force you to shop online so they can whin nobody goes to the stores as an excuse to sell the property. I could've bought the fitted men's shirts online, but boycotted them, and didn't even buy them. I never got the coat, the right size joggers, or the shirts. I am disappointed to report that Macy's customer service and delivery was one of the worst experiences I have ever had regarding an online order. I will state the disclaimer that I understand that certain companies are struggling during this pandemic but Macys should have something set up to avoid the issues I have encountered. I placed my order back in April to have my SOBRO coffee table delivered in early May. I moved after the order was place and emailed Macy's customer service to have the date changed. This was weeks before the delivery date was even set. I received an email confirmation saying the change had been made and I would receive my delivery in early May to the correct address. A few days before my delivery I received an automated voice message stating that my delivery was being prepped for delivery and I would expect it in the next few days. I stayed on the phone to speak with a rep only to wait on hold for over an hour to find out they still had the wrong address. The Rep I spoke with was rude and continued to speak over me while I tried to explain what needed to be corrected. She told me the address was put down as a note but never applied to my order. I stayed on and off hold for almost an hour and a half with no solution to the problem. I ended that call to wait for the following day to try and call back to speak with a different Rep. I then spent almost another 2 hours on the phone to reach yet another unhelpful Rep. She continued to put me on hold and at the end offered no solution to correcting the delivery date and address. I requested to speak with a manager and he finally worked with me to get the problem fixed. The day that my delivery was scheduled I was told my delivery window was from 7-9. I waited that day with no call and no delivery. I called customer service to wait on hold yet again until I spoke with a Rep who then told me the truck was in my area and would be delivered between 9-12. I waited with no truck and no call. I finally called back to wait on hold again to find out it would be delivered between 3-5. The Rep told me I would receive a 20 min heads up call when the truck was en route to my address. At around 3:00 I received a 2 min warning that the truck was on its way. The delivery team was extremely kind and apologetic of the delay and helped to bring my order inside. When they unboxed the coffee table I notice a huge dent, multiple scratch marks, and broken parts. I inspected the box prior to the delivery team unboxing the item and it was completely undamaged. I had the team call their Rep to set up for an exchange of the product I have waited over a month for. The representative explained that she would order a replacement but did not have a delivery date for the new one. She explained she would reach out to me in order to set up the echange and I have yet to receive any emails from their customer service. It has been over a week now with no follow up. I sent a detailed email to Macy's explaining my experience and looking for information on how they are going to fix this issue only to receive an automated email back explaining that Macys was not responding to emails and to refer to the frequently asked questions page on their website. I refuse to waste anymore time on the phone. Until they reach out to address this issue I now have a broken piece of furniture sitting in the middle of my living room. I have spent a significant amount of money to wait on hold for hours, speak with unhelpful customer service reps, and get a product delivered broken and damaged. I still don't have a date for when the new product will be replaced and customer service hasn't responded to any emails. I'm interested to see how Macys will make this right but as of right now I am not hopeful. I would not recommend buying anything from Macys during this pandemic as they can clearly are not staffed enough to process orders appropriately. read more

This place is a jokeeeeee... I wanted to pay for something and I literally had to walk around the whole floor to find someone actually at a register.. and when I did there were 4 employees trying to deal with a customer who didn't have a receipt I'm assuming she wore it and runs a scheme occasionally and they were tired of her bs. So as that's happening the girl that's ringing me up isn't even paying attention and forgetting to take the sensors off. I had to tell her. I walk around the Ralph Lauren department per usual but I've only visit maybe 3 times in the past year because some weird old white lady was acting like I was gonna steal. Anyways.. I walk the MENS floor and I hear allllll the associates huddled up either at the nautica or tommy register going on and on about how the places sucks to work for and how they're not allowed to talk to any of their managers. I found that funny because EVERYONE at the Ralph Lauren department looked at me like I was gonna steal again. Look... I had Polo on head to toe, stop profiling and if you really want to deteriorate people from stealing maybe you shouldn't have a 60 year old little lady as your main form of scaring tactics. Nobody offered ANY help on ANY floor. Sadly Macy's just turned into a huge building where old retail people can just gossip and chit chat. Hope they have your sizes in the rack because they're not even gonnnnnna try to look for it if you ask. And seriously if you buy, make sure you check they take the sensor off. They got me once during Christmas and I had to come back to take the sensor off. Another old white lady on the first floor gave me attitude when I told her I had to go back to get it taken care of... she asked for my receipt and crumpled it back up and thought I was gonna take it back afffffter I handed it to her nicely folded! I berated her and told her that she needed to give that back to me the way I gave it to her especially since someone left the sensor on and I didn't beep on my way out... if you don't wanna deal with your coworkers mistakes or your company's bs... don't come to work. read more

This Macy's is one of my favorite!!! My #1 is of course the one on 34th street in NYC however this one has great services, outrageous inventory and this site is really organized clean plus beautifully decorated. I have used the customer return department and I must say WOW!! It separate by one of the entryway, there is great seating area plus the staff is always cheerful warm welcoming, my return was quick and efficient so thank you for the VIP treatment at customer return area! I love the way they have all of the different designers displayed, each designer has great inventory plus it's all so beautiful, my most favorite department is the handbags then shoes. The inventory in the handbag department is outrageous I WANT THEM ALL!!!!!! Lol ok maybe just two or three! They have a large range of bags in all types of prices so there is something for everyone! The sales lady is so helpful and welcoming you will get lost with all the high name brands, wait I almost forgot about the multiple sale inventory really great prices. I honestly only love this store Christmas time other then that I do buy my bedding from here (the hotel collection) and I must say they do have better prices then most stores. But this store really needs to work on their organization because it's always unorganized. We ordered two merchandise online. The cashier who was serving us was desperate because she left at 5pm and it was already 5:15pm. Only one order arrived and they charged us shipping. This is a pretty cool Macy's to waste time in. I liked the SPCA that is located upstairs. We played with the kittens after putting in a $10 donation. They keep it clean in the entire store and the staff is pretty nice. The restaurants inside are pretty nice too. We didn't actually eat there so I cannot mention the service or quality of the food in there, it looked nice though.
